so tonight younger dd and I spent the evening at Barnes and Noble. dd simply HAD to have Double Fudge , the newest Judy Blume book. we bought the book, and had a snack in the cafe (cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory! yum!). she sat and read for quite awhile before we came home. and she got into bed and took out the book and continued to read until she fell asleep.

...Judy Blume is still alive?
This is super news...I have to go get this book!

I absolutely loved Judy Blume growing up!! I have all her books just waiting for when my little girl is able to read them!! :)

did you like Fudge a Mania and Otherwise Known as Sheila the Great?

dd liked them all. she also enjoyed the Pain and the Great One, Freckle Juice and Also Starring Sally J Freedman as Herself.

tonight I found out that she'd read Are You There, God? It's Me, Margaret. I bought that one for her older sister.

You know, I don't recall if I've read Fudge a Mania or not. I've read all the other ones though. Judy Blume is a great author.

I read Are You There God, It's Me Margaret when I was like 8 and my mom read it after I did. She was so mad because she felt it was too "mature" for me. In retrospect it probably was but it didn't cause too much trauma. LOL

If you loved Judy's books as a child - and now are all grown up - read SUMMER SISTERS!!!!! It is a wonderful book! Right now I am reading her other 'adult' book - SMART WOMEN - so far it is really good!!!

Summer Sisters is one of my favorite books and I am reading Smart Women right now too! LOL!

Briar Rose, you brought back so many memories for me...I loved Sheila The Great and Freckle Juice...Also Deenie and Tiger Eyes...oh man, I have this urge to go read one of her books right now! LOL

I will definitely have to get Double Fudge and keep it with the collection!

I was just on the website, I am amazed at how many of her books I had read. Blubber was my absolute favorite in elementary school! I remember checking it out over and over again! And I did a dialouge from Tiger Eyes in a Jr. High Speech Meet!

Too Weird! Thanks for the reminder I'm getting old!

I read most of her books when I was young....ahh...the memories. LOL

My DSs have read some of her books too.

Didn't she have a book for adults a while ago...."Wifey" or something like that?? I'll have to go do a web search and see if they list that book.... Hmm... Now I want to read the other 2 mentioned in this thread :)

I just finished reading Fudge Mania to my reading group. They (and I) absolutely loved it. We are reading Super Fudge now because they begged for another Fudge book. I'll be on the lookout for Double Fudge!

Judy Blume was my favorite author growing up. I have considered reading my DD (6) Super Fudge, but I think I want her to read them on her own like I did. Maybe I'll buy them now and read them myself!

Judy Blume gave me one of the most significant memories of my childhood. I came upon a copy of Are You There God, It's Me Margaret shortly after I had moved from NY to NJ . I thought I was the only person in the world who felt those things and reading her book kept me breathing some days. It was as if she was in my head. When I was in college, I used it for a class and there were so many young women who also loved her . My younger daughter who is now 12 read it this summer and said it was the best book she ever read. WHat a treasure she is. I will have to get Smart Women and Summer Sisters was a fun read also.

Yep I read alot of those books too. "Margaret" was my "mom" as far as that topic. I had my dd read it a couple of years ago. I checked out a whole stack from the library, lol and reread a few.
I also liked the TV show "Fudge" with "Jan" from the Brady Bunch as mom.

I loved reading the Judy Blume books as a kid. I read her Forever when I was 15 and my mom read it later and decided it was much too old for me! I also have read Smart Women and Summer Sisters and loved both of them.

I have to agree that she has a real flare for writing. I've read all her kids books and then her adult ones too. I wish she'd come out with a new adult one now.....

Ah, wish I had a daughter to enjoy Judy Blume with. Oldest DS doesn't seem interested in reading any of her books. The jury is still out with the little one.

Oh well, maybe I'll get a granddaughter one day to read these wonderful books from my past with.
