I love the MyMagic+ and Magic Bands.

I don't know if you quite see the final result here. This is hardly an advancement in technology (RFID has been around for some time now; Disney just hasn't utilized it) but rather an advancement in profits. Upon full rollout, you'll see people paying upwards of $15 per person to get more FP+s, resort tiering, longer lines at typical "short wait" attractions, and more rigid planning and scheduling when you're on vacation. Realistically, I see the positives with this program alongside the negatives, but my feelings are really mixed at this point. These videos are just another reminder where the $1.5 billion dollars are going. Instead of making videos to help guests learn how to use this somewhat-complicated system, they're spending their time and money on moms bumping into doors and kids asking their teacher for an A on their final.

So, Disney is able to make more profit all the while integrating photo pass (also memory maker), your hotel room entry, ability to pay without card, entry to park and fast passes as well make sure people who they say they are for dinner res (scan at gate) for security. Sounds like a win for all involved. Sure, there are changes that may change operating procedure for some but, cry me a river you have to change.

As for the videos, it's just a stupid way of saying you will be addicted to fastpass once you get used to it. I remember the same joke with a cruise line and their frequent user card (so it's not original). As for the "system being complicated" I don't see what the problem is for the user. Login, pick fastpass like you pick a restaurant. Are people also mad about having to pick an ADR 180 days out? It's a system where a ride you are guaranteed little to no wait, why be mad about being able to secure it 60 days out?

Sounds like a first world problem to me. Also, RFID has been around but you have to look at all the components and mass scale this is on.

Yes....

"Really? you want me to tell you where I want to eat in 6 months. I can't decide at lunch time what I want for dinner, how do I know what I want in 6 months."

personally I agree I use to love to use the WorldKey booths for making same day ADRs. But times they are a changin.

How do you plan vacations? How do you know you want to be at Disney World 6 months in advance? Plane tickets should be the same price no matter what, amiright? ;)

meh. It's not even on the Quiznos' singing rodents level. They are meant to be cheesy but, hate advancement in technology based on online videos?

Nope. I actually thought the videos were kind of funny, especially the first one. Useless. But kind of funny. However, I hate this particular "advancement in technology" because it will undoubtedly make our future park experiences less pleasurable (and yes...I have tested FP+).

I wasn't even going to comment on this thread until you so nicely pointed out that those opposed to this particular change could "cry you a river." Then for some strange reason I felt compelled to share my opinion on how much I dislike FP+. :)

Fair enough. I don't mind people not liking it after trying it. I'm seeing most the people bashing it have never tried it. What makes this make your park experience less pleasurable? The great news is I think Disney is one of those companies who will tweak it if it means people will have a good visit.................................. and spend more money.

And the posted comments aren't necessarily glowing with praise either. Hmmm...

They're YouTube comments! I'm just amazed they aren't all homophobic, racist non-sequiturs written by illiterate 12yos.

Yes, I am aware it currently doesn't use one of the 3, but it's very possible it could happen in the future and it being shown as one of the 3 in their own ads makes it even more likely IMO.

From the beginning, the terms and conditions have mentioned that using a fP+ for a dining opportunity has been in play. It is only a matter of time before this option opens up for more restaurants, and it will be part of the three.

It totally makes sense in DHS, Epcot, and DAK - those parks don't even have 3 FP"+" available for every guest. So Disney needs a lot of people to pass on FP right now, but has that number of users grow - they will need to find more places to burn a FP.

I have a chart of FP allocations by park if you are interested.

Counter Service cuts in line at the World Showcase could be used to "eat" up some of that demand for FP.

Guess you haven't read all of this thread. More than one report in it of people that have just gotten home and not feeling so great about the new system of FP+.

Another point. I have enough sense to know our family won't like FP+ without actually having to walk into the parks. There is no way having only 3 FP+s, not being about to use in more than one park and not being able repeat FP+s for a favorite ride is ever going to be a positive for us. At MK last year, our family spent 14 hours in the park, rode over 20 rides and pulled 9 paper FPs with 3 each for my DS's two favorites. Just by going by that, I can figure out that FP+ isn't going to be an improvement for our family.

But I'm glad you enjoy it and it works for you.

Went in November and used FP+ (along with triple and quadruple dipping) and could see how it will take away from our trips in the future. I do not like FP+, but do like the bands. I thought they were convenient.

I did test the double dipping on Star Tours. Odd thing was you could get a pass for the exact time you were there and pull another pass a minute later. Must have been a glitch with the FP-.

~I finally watched the commercials and they're awful to me. Who wants feel "locked in" with anything? :lmao:

~Ugh... I hate the marketing for this, but I still love Magic Bands and FP+. :cool1:

you dismiss the fact that you cannot park hop or have more than 3 tiered ride choices a day as something insignificant. To me and to many others this is huge. It would be interesting to know your deal too---how many kids and what are their ages? For me, telling 2 boys ( 9 & 12 )that they cannot ride the only halfway thrilling rides more than once (if at all) will not be fun.

Generally those with tweens and teens are not fans of FP+ precisely for that reason. I have found that many of the supporters have only young children or no children, and typically do not do rope drop. Nor do they tend to have many kids, as this plan makes it very hard to make everyone in a larger group happy.

I actually think Disney is writing off the teen market with this plan. Which is risky because many families with tweens and teens also have younger kids.

Universal ought to go for the jugular and add another big land for the preschooler set. What they did with Seuss was spectacular!

You are so right Mom2rtk- We took them to Universal last year and they absolutely LOVED it. Much more than WDW as a matter of fact. They kept saying how much cooler it was. The only reason that we are headed back to the world this year is for my own nostalgia. My boys wanted to hit Universal again. I am quite certain this will be our last trip to WDW-I doubt I can get them there again-esp if their riding is limited. Instead of Orlando I think our winter breaks will from now on be more of a beach trip-better weather at least :)

~I'm not understanding why you have to tell your boys that they cannot ride the thrill rides at WDW more than once "if at all."

~I understand how you may be frustrated with the transition but this doesn't seem reasonable. There is nothing preventing you from having a great time at Disney World. It's different, but no two trips are ever the same, especially at WDW.

Wow, why all the hate?? I thought the videos were kinda cute, and I could definitely relate to the first one.....we wished our mb would work in the real world, too! Also, count us among the mb fans! We were there over Christmas, and have nothing but love for the new system. We'd usually go to one park in the morning, hit what rides we could with minimal lines, then hop over to the park we had fp+ for, go on those rides, and hit whatever other rides had a low wait time. It worked great for us, and that was in one of the busiest times of the year! Of course, we don't whine if we have to wait in a 20 minute line, either, lol. We were also able to change our fp+ on the fly, no issues, and absolutely no problems with the MDE app in the parks. If for some reason we couldn't switch the times for one, it was because it was a more popular ride, and there wouldn't have been legacy fp anyway at that point, so what's the difference?
