I love living in a small town

I moved here about 8 months ago and I just continue to be surprised by the neighborly behavior and community spirit. Just 10 minutes ago, Santa Claus came riding by our house (on a small cul-de-sac) on a firetruck, sirens screaming, handing out lollypops to the neighborhood kids! How cool is this?

They do this in my town too...last Satuday actually. I was driving on a road 2 streets over from mine, and I heard the sirens before I saw the truck (DH is a firefighter, I'm trained on the sound! heheh) I thought "dear lord - another fire?" there was one in a home that morning.

Nope - it was Santa! hehehe As I pass them I of course wave like a fool.

He drove around ALL DAY...I was in our office later that day, and he went by AGAIN.

Small town living is a wonderous gift! I live in a town of 10,000...you couldn't find a bunch of nicer folks if'n ya tried!

Let's hear it for all us small-town folks!!

Yep, our small town does this also. What's so great is that our firefighters are all volunteers and they take time out of their schedules to do this for our community. They also ride around on Halloween passing out bags of candy. The kids love it!

When I was young in a small town, we all got to ride on the firetruck at Christmas, hanging on the side and sitting on the bumpers. I wonder if they still do that.
