We have never been to Universal, would it be too much to do both in one trip if staying 7 or 8 nights? It is just two adults no children but we do want a little down time and a golf day. I was thinking of staying on Disney property and we would have a car, any suggestions from anyone that has done both in the same trip.

We've done both while staying 6 nights. We stayed busy, but it was fun and it was worth it and it is doable. We are planning on doing it again on our next trip. We are also two adults with NO children traveling with us. We stayed on Disney property and drove to Universal. I might add that we use hopper tickets while at Disney, so we may visit more than one Disney park a day.

7/8 nights should be fine. You can do 3 universal 1/2 rest and 4 disney. Heck even 3 disney if you skip DHS and that would make 7 work with 2 off days for golf and rest.

We just did that last month. We stayed 8 nights, 3 at HRH and 5 at AoA. We had a great time at Universal and I really enjoy City Walk but I will not split stays again. I love Disney to much to take time away. If I was to take a day or two for Universal it would be while staying on Disney property and just rent a car or take a taxi. We said that if we go back to Universal it would just be a long weekend trip. I want my 7 to 10 day trip to be all Disney. Just my thoughts.

We split our 8 day trip to include a full and partial day at Universal. We leave Disney right after 6 am, spend the night at Royal Pacific so we can get the front of the line pass for 2 days (the day we check in and the day we check out), and we are entitled to enter the parks an hour before opening both days. Then we return to Disney sometime the next afternoon and, if not to tired, go to one of the Disney parks in the evening and use the 3 fast passes we booked for that day in advance.
I really like some of the rides at Universal, but the vibe there is different. The Disney Magic doesn't exist. I couldn't do a third day there.

How hard would it be to do both Universal parks in one day with express pass in early May? We do not do coasters or spinning rides.

There are perks, included; like early 'Harry Potter' admission and front-of-the-line, Express Pass, if you stay at one of the three 'on site' Universal (Loews) hotels. If it's a first visit, and you are going when it's crowded, you want the Express Pass. If you like water rides, it's nice to have a hotel room, within walking distance, to to dry off. One thing about Universal is that they have an up-charge for everything, mostly the Express Pass. One night at a Universal 'on site' hotel gives you the perks for two days in the parks. We are fans of Royal Pacific, the least expensive of the top tier hotels. The vibe is different but, once you get to 'Harry Potter Land' all is good.

Very doable. We did it last July, so peak time. We did the park to park and stayed at Hard Rock so had the express passes. We don't do the water rides but do the roller coasters. We had plenty of time to do all we wanted but we had been before so had the experience of the park layout. You can certainly find the park maps to give you an idea ahead of time. We find the vibe very different.

I can speak from five years in a row doing Universal first for 2 days then Disney for 7, it's not too hectic and we love it. We do a rest day in between.
In my opinion there a ton of great rides at both USO & IoA, we do not do coasters or spinning rides either. The Harry Potter lands are incredible.
I would never go to FL and not do both Universal and Disney :)

We did both parks in one day, but it was in Sept instead of May. We ride everything. It was tiresome for us since we ride all the thrill rides, but it is doable. Since you won't be riding the roller coasters it shouldn't be that hard.

I would recommend staying at Universal for at least a night if you go during a busy time. We found having front of the line passes and early admission to Harry Potter definitely worth it. Harry Potter world is incredible and Universal has several other solid attractions as well.
