I love credit cards so much!

I had the Staples offer on several of my Chase cards so loaded up on Amazon because no plans for Disney. I knew that my Prime fee was due soon, so I thought it was a great way to save on that. Just looked and they charged my card instead of debiting from gift card balances. Grrrrrr Also forgot to cancel my free Kindle Unlimited and they hit my Visa for that also. At least I had loaded a Kindle offer on that card so I got 20% off, but hadn't planned on renewing at all. Double Grrrrrrr.

Pretty sure you can’t pay for Prime with GCs.

Those with a disinterested borderline unwilling P2 will understand this. For everyone else it might end up being an interesting data point.

In November my plan was to get P2 the Amex Gold for the dining and stores. It would have worked perfect. So I downgraded his CSR (did not want to pay fee) and got the Freedom (which I quickly maxed out at Costco). Fast forward to today. We will barely use up the 5 times points on my Freedom this quarter and don’t need his at all. He got the pop up for the Gold so no new Amex. We are leaving Thursday for a week and I want him to be the main driver on the vehicle we are getting and his friend to be the other driver, so I want him to have a CSR in his name for insurance. So I secure message them in a futile attempt to avoid the call. No luck I get the “you can change to CSR but have to call.” Today we call. Weirdest conversation ever! I am not sure if rep did not know how to do it, had a flag on the account to not do it, or if something else entirely. She would not say if could do it or not do it and it ended with “you will get a letter in 7-10 days.” I am not holding out much hope...which honestly is fine because it is not like I was totally excited to pay the $450 anyway. Is not being able to downgrade a Sapphire and then upgrade it later now a thing? Maybe our timeline was too short?

I have been thinking of using my emailed link to get him a Hyatt but now I am almost thinking not worth the effort. These joint conversations are painful enough as it is; if it is just going to be drama and difficulty with calling I might just be a one player for now.

Not CC related, but relates to the Disney dining talk from a few days ago. My DD asked me to make her a Snow White dress for our May trip, so of course then I decided that we have to go to the Storybook Dining to meet Snow White. I've been checking for the past few days with no luck. Just now I had this weird feeling that I should check again and I got a reservation at the perfect time! So excited!

Glad you got the ADR! We haven't met Snow White, but we've done Belle in a 'Belle' dress. And numerous others but not in their respective outfits.

DD got cotton dresses from Etsy. They were approximately $40 and then there was the Amex $10 of $40. They were cute and comfortable looking, being made from cotton and they received many compliments, especially when they both wore a Cinderella dress. She also got a Miickey/Minnie print, a 'Dorothy' dress - this was the most noticed as she had her little basket for Toto and her ruby slippers. I loved the Belle dress.

I used to sew but now I don't because of my sight - had cataracts removed and my distance vision is great, but up close not so great. I was not a good candidate for the lens that would have fixed this.

So birthday discount from Landry’s works at Y&Y? Anyone know when the discount is loaded in your account? Is it the first of the month of your birthday?

I was told it was the first of the month. We'll be going about a week after BIL's birthday. I saw some talk on here when I did a google search about purchasing the $25 Landry's membership card and apparently you get a $25 new member credit for the first time you use it. There seemed to be some debate as to whether you could use both the new member discount and the birthday discount at the same meal though. I wonder if you did separate checks if you'd be able to use both...

@AmyAnne congrats on your DVC. Hopefully they won’t but if your contract is taken you could always consider just getting AKV direct. I think it is only going up $5 a point to $176. With direct you would get the benefits, banked points, the most important thing with this thread the ability to put it on a couple different credit cards! I seriously think part of the reason I have been wanting to buy more and buy it direct is my tentative scheme to get 3 different cards and meet spends. And if I got cards with no interest for a year I would have time to pay it off. :)

DH had to have a sewing machine one time when they were good price on Amazon. It still sits in our garage unopened just like the mitre saw and table saw...

Sewing outfits for DD to wear to Disney is probably my favorite thing to do! For the Snow White dress I'm definitely thinking cotton, Snow White "inspired" dress rather than full on costume. May in WDW can be HOT!

I think I had read somewhere you can't use GCs for the Prime membership.

You can't use both on the same check as far as I know for the same person. If I were using 2 credits I'd probably do breakfast at AK and then Yak and Yeti.

Nice! I like the 'inspired' dresses. So cute!

Thanks! Might just use one or the other then. We're probably just doing breakfast in our rooms/snacks on the dining plan.

Thanks -- I am definitely buying one way or the other. If this contract gets taken, I figure I will wait and see what happens to resale prices after 1/19. If they go down, I might try resale again even despite the increased restrictions. Or direct is also a possibility.

I did put the $1200 escrow deposit on a cc -- I wonder if that will be credited to the purchase price if it goes through.

I just got my card and may have mentioned it here. All my research shows that it is "not allowed" to combine the discounts, but there are old reports of it happening so I am going to attempt it with my one meal at Yak & Yeti.

I was told in another thread that the $25 bday reward can be used at the Rain Forest Cafe gift shop. Rather than "lose" $25, I will find something there to purchase on my way out of AK if I am unsuccessful at my meal.

I am ok with just breaking even on the initial cost and $25 welcome reward. I really only got the card because I waited over 35 minutes with an ADR at Yak & Yeti in December and Landry Select members were seated before me. Lets see what happens with the ADR and the card!

Yes, it should be. If it isn't I'd be asking some questions.

I'd HUCA in your case.

Yes, it should be. If it isn't I'd be asking some questions.

I'm not worried about anything shady happening to it (going through Fidelity). I was just thinking that they might credit the deposit back and want the whole purchase in cash.

I seem to remember hearing of people using both offers. Just tried to copy my email that says you can't use both offers but I can't get it to copy 'all' of the email...for some reason it's coming out weird:

Ahhh….that's the best I'm going to get! Unless I piecemeal it together...
