I love credit cards so much!

I get into the strangest SW dilemmas. I have $80.01 in each of our names from a summer cash flight we re-booked. Our flight for 3 weeks from now is down to $114.98 (we are booked on points and it was $131ish initially). If I cancelled the points flights, and used the $80.01 plus $5.60 I’d get back from pts flights it would cost me $29.37 out of pocket...but I’d save all my points and I’d even earn ~$8 worth of SW pts on each of the flights.

These are the things I spend hours thinking about....LOL! I can pay about $90 out of pocket to save approx 22k SW pts and earn another 1,700 SW pts...hmmmmmmm

Wouldn’t it be better to use the voucher and then use the points to redeem for a giftcard or something.

There’s a $100 travel credit? I must have missed that somewhere.
Yes! It's towards incidentals. I used it mostly for EBCI on SW.
Get up to $200 in travel statement credit rewards

Get up to a $100 Airline Incidental Statement Credit annually for qualifying purchases such as seat upgrades, baggage fees, in-flight services, and airline lounge fees - automatically applied to your card statement

Get up to $100 Airport Security Statement Credit towards TSA Pre✓ ® or Global Entry Application fee, every four years

Well DH just got the dreaded Amex popup. Sigh. I tired to refer him off my Pink Gold. We are putting in a basement bar area and have some spend coming. It's his turn to get a card so it's back to the drawing board.

I have a long list of options but a lot of them are Amex so that is out right now for speed. We're locked out of Chase.

I'm at my limit with Barclays but DH is not except he put no spend on his Aviator. I didn't want to deal with a bigger minimum spend right now. I'm trying to keep our budget tight for saving purposes.

Considering:

Cap1 Savor One $150 back off $500 spend, no AF
Cap1 Quicksilver $150 back off $500 spend, no AF

Wait until next week for the new Citi card that is coming.

My top choices WERE the new pink gold, then either the Amex Cash magnet or refer from my no fee Hilton to get us another 100k points in DH's name.

So what would you do? Right now I'm leaning toward getting nothing new as much as that pains me.

Parts of our old fence fell on two sides of the yard. Thankfully all the new fence stayed standing. A couple sections of the neighbors new fence fell. These are all wood fences which are no match for wind. Couple sections broke off at the bottom and a couple sections came put of the wet ground. One section flew into the yard, not even sure what the wind did then and I don't want to know.

Just before reading this I remembered that our flights to MCO Thurs had dropped to $49 each, and I have $50 SW GC plus DHs Priority credit and maybe we should have used those...

I would probably just not get a new card and put the spend on Amex. See if you can get the pop up to go away. Painful but true.

I have the Quicksilver (downgraded from Venture) and have no complaints. There was a deal October through December on contactless purchases where made 3 get $10 rebate. I used it on vending machines and so right now have a negative $15 on the account (plus the diet cokes I got out of the deal). So that was a nice benefit if you really can’t help yourself and want a new card.

@disneymagicgirl wanted to tag off this post yesterday but forgot. If you're thinking of doing EPs depending on how many days, I'd compare EP prices vs a room at one of the EP hotels. We're going to stay at the Hyatt Place across from USO, which is just down from the Doubletree, for 8k points a night (from URs). We're looking at EPs for June for 2 days for us and ILs... For four people, Unlimited EP for two days, Uni wants $1320 with tax :crazy2: On the other hand, a room at RPR is $533 with tax for one night, which would give us EP for both days... so we will definitely be ubering to RPR the first morning and 'checking in' to get EPs, that savings is worth and extra 20 mins :) And you could even use URs booking through the portal if you want.

The Doubletree at the Universal gates was really nice, and points redemptions when we went were a great value. You could always do points for the stay and then purchase the passes for you and your son if you don't want to pay Universal hotel prices. The walk from the hotel would be very easy for just the two of you.

I found 2 S&S locations in MA and one in RI that are checking/refusing if it says gift on the front...cashier gave some lame excuse...I wasn't gonna argue but I may have rolled my eyes at the poor excuse given.
I haven’t run into this yet. I tend to look for the younger teens when they are working they don’t seem to care. The machines are kind of hidden by a large desk. One woman did comment that I swiped and not chip and pinned and I just said it was an old card

Noticed last night points posted on Amex Biz Plat. Woot woot. Anymore with Amex it is just a hold your breath and wait for them to post with fingers crossed. The 100k posted though before even technically met spend (they counted the returns and credits).

Famous last words but for right now I am really going to try to cool it for a bit on new cards. Just trying to use the ones I have right now is a little exhausting. In another month and a half I will be 4/24 and then might try for another Chase business. I really don’t want to have to talk to them again though as I am still a little scarred from the conversation on getting my CIP...if I don’t just get approved not sure I will answer the call. :)

I also asked about their rooms at Pop for the cruise trip with the ILs... They are $408 a room for those days, vs $464 at All Star Music. I'm thinking yes - renovated rooms, can pay with gift cards, and it's still the same cancellation policy as a normal Disney booking? Sold.
PoP is $408 per room??????? that's kind of high

Thanks for all your help! I need to get Ibotta I guess. And I had no clue MOs were that cheap. Was expecting it to be a couple bucks each. Now the profit is starting to make sense in my head.:teacher:
I usually do $500 even and pay the $1 fee cash. Right now with chase freedom you can get the visa gcs at 5% Walgreens or CVS ($25-6 fee-1 MO fee) so you make $18 on it. Good for some MS or to get extra points. Otherwise you could do PGR for 4x back and get it at a grocery store. I’ve only tried MO at s+s, my Walmart lines are way too long. @speedyfishy and @MrPTato are way more experts than me. Do you have a giant eagle? I think they are same company as S+S

I transferred all money out and SMd to close after it cleared. It’s 6 months to keep open to prevent the early account closure fee. There are reports of people who pull all their money out & close early not getting charged the $25, ymmv. Haven’t tried it myself. Make sure you pull the money & close all in the same statement cycle to prevent the monthly fee hitting your account in the middle of trying to close it.
DH tried to close in person yesterday and yes they wanted to charge $25. I’ll just wait until February I guess.

Guys, the Disneyland price increases have hit not just APs, but one-day and multi-day tickets too: https://wdwnt.com/2019/01/breaking-...ases-ahead-of-star-wars-galaxys-edge-opening/

LMT Club still has multi-day tickets discounted at the old prices. Might want to lock in discounts on the old pricing if you're planning a trip sometime this year. And remember, LMT Club codes as travel for 3x UR on CSR and CIP, 2x UR on CSP.
I’m so bummed we’re planning for 2020 and I can’t do anything now.

I'm bitter because I put about $12k of real spend on DHs Delta plat in 2018. That should be more than enough. Sigh.

Brutal increase on passes, good grief! Over $2k for the premier pass! The mouse owns us all.

OMG it was so scary windy last night! We had one of those little plastic kiddie pools in the backyard under the deck that managed to get out and fly into the front yard. The bedroom area of our house is surrounded by 100 year old maple trees that drop big limbs and creak when it gets windy and I just lay there waiting to hear something drop onto the roof above me. Oddly enough nothing major happened. The windstorm that was maybe two years ago we had one fall in the backyard, smashing the fence on the way down. Needless to say I am glad it is over!

Trying to catch up this morning but I'll post now and keep reading along.

This may affect some folks here — Disneyland has raised AP prices overnight, as well as MaxPass, daily tickets, and parking.

Yikes! Just awful. Their pricing (park, but esp. hotel) has kept us from visiting for the past 5 years. Every time I book something to DL, it just ends up costing waaaaay too much for what we get... and then we end up going to WDW or taking a DCL cruise instead. Not cheap, but I feel like there's more value there. So this isn't going to help with that. They are catering to the SoCal crowd and I feel like I'm not a valued visitor there anymore, which is sad since I grew up going there. And it's going to be worse once Star Wars opens. :sad2:

I checked dischurners and didn't see much there either. I don't have stop & shop, just need general MS info. I ventured over the regular reddit and it was way over my head. If any of you pros get time, and don't mind doing a little write up on dischurners, I think some of us would be appreciative. :daisy:

Yes, please. I'd love it if there was a bit more detailed info over there, too. :worship:
