I love credit cards so much!

Any idea if a real direct deposit has to match the name on bank account? I already did PNC for DH. Planned on doing it for me as well but his DD is easily changed online. So will it matter if his DD goes into my account?
I’ve a DD into my sister’s account to trigger a bonus for her before (Incredible Bank) and didn’t have any issues.

Ok DISchurner friends...I want to ask an off topic touring plan question :) Since you are all the DISers I trust most...

You know I booked a contemporary resort Magic Kingdom View room - girls were super excited to hear of this for Christmas! Now I have to adjust our plans slightly...We are in this room on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night and I want to watch the fireworks from my balcony one night. Being back in the room by 8pm any night was not in my original plan. Let me give you the rundown and I'd love some feedback!!
  • Wednesday - we are going to Magic Kingdom; Hours are 9am-8pm with EMH from 8pm-10pm. HEA is at 8pm
  • Thursday - we are going to Animal Kingdom; Hours are 9am-8pm (no EMH)
  • Friday - we are going to Magic Kingdom; Hours are 9am-9pm (no EMH). HEA is at 8pm
We want to watch HEA in the MK one night so that has to happen either Wed or Fri (we do not have a park hopper). We are going to Magic Kingdom for 6+ hours on Saturday so Friday is NOT our last park day in case that would affect your recommendation. We did see RoL last year so this wouldn't be our "first chance" at that show. We have no dining reservations or other plans that would affect these options below.
  • OPTION 1 -- Wed: HEA from the room (skip EMH); Thur: RoL; Fri: HEA from the park

  • OPTION 2 -- Wed: HEA from the park (then remaining EMH); Thur: RoL; Fri: HEA from the room

  • OPTION 3 -- Wed: No HEA, take full advantage of EMH; Thur: HEA from the room (skip RoL), Fri: HEA from the park

  • OPTION 4 -- Wed: HEA from the park (then remaining EMH); Thur: HEA from the room (skip RoL), Fri: ride until 9pm
Each option has a lot of merit IMO. I keep going back and forth between various options. I believe these are the only 4 options I can draw up...so DISchurner friends...what would you do and why??? :) :D THANKS!!!

I'm going with 2. I like ROL so would want the opportunity to see it, so that ruled out 3 and 4. I would also want the opportunity to do EMH, even if I didn't end up doing it. I'm also thinking by Friday you may be more tired as opposed to Wed and would enjoy an early night at the room.

It worked on Chase. I put part of my check in his Chase checking to meet the bonus there.

Ack, got my lovely instant approval this morning, and decided to try for DH for the Arrival Plus. Got the "your application is being reviewed message" :-(. Now what? Do they have a status number/page? He sure isn't going to call that's for sure. Neither of us currently has any Barclays cards, closed them both in the last year. He is at 4/24.

Barclays does have an online status app page. I got the same message as you and was approved less than 24 hours later. Good luck! I’ve already met spend on mine. Thinking my dh needs one now

ETA: found it quickly. https://www.barclaycardus.com/apply/cas/applications/search

I LOVED having a balcony on the cruise! Dh and I spent so much time out there---and also a lot of time out on a "secret" forward deck on the Coral Princess. That was our first (and so far, only) cruise. We used Costco Travel and ended up with a ton of OBC :)

I knew that I wanted Glacier Bay, which limited my cruise line choices to Princess and Holland America. I compared the northerly one-way itineraries and available ships. Basically the only itinerary choices were the ending port and the choice of Skagway or Haines. Dh wanted Skagway because he had always wanted to ride the train into Canada. I decided that going into Whittier (Princess port for Anchorage) would be more interesting than into Seward (Holland America's port for Anchorage) because of the glaciers in Prince William Sound. So that's how we chose our ports
@LynnTH I have never taken a cruise to Alaska but spent a lot of time up there. Seward is a quaint little town that caters to cruisers. Whittier has an amazing one way tunnel in and out of the town, the longest in North America. If anyone in your group has an interest in amazing engineering feats this would be the choice. The town itself is pretty lackluster though.

Does anyone here know anything about Alaska Cruises? Next year will by our 25th Anniversary. (not sure how that happens when your only 30..) I always plan our vacations and DH and kids just go wherever. (Usually Disney or Caribbean Cruises) DH has always wanted to do an Alaskan Cruise - I have always been hesitant because it does not have really warm weather and palm trees. But I hear they are great. So, I was going to surprise him next year with this cruise. Our anniversary is in March but would go in June/July. I still have CSR so could book on points at 1.5 redemption. I started doing some research and just keep getting more confused on where to go. I did read not to go out of Seattle but go out of Vancouver as it is more scenic and calmer. Any suggestions would be great... Thanks.

We’ve done both Princess (2018) and Disney (2015) to Alaska. The Disney cruise went to Tracy Arm Fjord and Princess went to the Hubbard Glacier and Glacier Bay. There is nothing in this world like Glacier Bay! Given that, we enjoyed the Princess itinerary more. Also, the Naturalist on Princess was terrific (she was a whale specialist). DCL had a Naturalist too, and I recall him being good, but I was just more impressed with the one on Princess. Having said that, I still prefer DCL in general cause you know, its DCL! For Alaska though, I think I'd go with the best itinerary. And I would 100% get a balcony stateroom (this is probably more affordable on Princess). It rains a lot in Alaska, so if you get a balcony room, make sure its covered (some are not).

On the trip we took last summer, we flew into Anchorage 10 days before the cruise and did some traveling on our own (we rented an RV). I actually enjoyed this more than the cruise to tell you the truth. If you can do either a northbound or southbound trip to allow for independent travel, I would highly recommend that. Denali is stunning + Seward was fun to visit as well.

PM me if you have questions. Happy to help.

For my family I would choose option 2, except I wouldn't necessarily watch ROL. We enjoy watching the Tree come to life as well as being in Pandora in the dark. As someone else posted being in the room Friday night would give you time to get packing done as well.

So since it looks like my DH :rolleyes1s application for a second CIP with EIN is going to either take a while with verification or be denied....and we have our insurance bill coming up in February....I decided to apply for my 4th Chase business card CIU and was instantly approved :jumping1:
CONGRATS!

For our benefit, Could you share all your cards (personal and biz) since you started and mm/yay that you applied? You’ve had such an awesome strategy and run here that I think others should replicate it :)

Did anyone else see the cashback deal on RMN for staples? Can we pair this with our AMEX offer?

What offer are you seeing? I don’t have any

OPTION 2 -- Wed: HEA from the park (then remaining EMH); Thur: RoL; Fri: HEA from the room

Option 2. ROL stinks but if you don’t want to watch it I’d hit a pandora ride right before close or Everest over and over lol. Everest is much scarier and better at night too lol

Okay these bank bonuses.....switching my DD from work is a PITA. So I don't want to do that. I do have $20k sitting in savings I could play around with to meet these minimum balance reqs. But I'm confused as to the work arounds on the DD. I see some people saying they are doing it with credit cards. How?

I'd love to get in on this "free" money since every little bit helps as a single mom. But I don't wanna have to keep changing up how I'm depositing my paycheck to do it.

Also when an account requires XXX of debit card transactions, are you guys doing anything special for that? Obv we want to put every dollar we can on our CC's to meet MSR or points/etc. So are you just doing stuff like a pack of gum? Or are you "scamming" some other way (like PP, etc). Oh and I did read the DOC list on ways that DD's have worked but it has my head spinning as some say things like PP work, and others say it doesn't. I'd rather hear from people what has worked.

Check doctor of credit for what pushes from other banks codes as a direct deposit. You could also do a lot of savings accounts with 20k to play with. I’d probably start with discover.

For purchases I do .50 amazon reloads.

Sure..since this is thanks to the advice of everyone here
.SW business 10/17(opened SW plus same day for CP- 2018/2019)....
Found you all in 5/18..so CIP 5/18...(personal CSR 8/18)...CIC 10 /18....CIU 1/19

not sure if it makes a difference but I also pay off most of the balance on my cards before they close and lowered credit limits on other cards about a month prior to applying and am usually at 15-20% of income...my last 3 cards were automatically approved...

Thank you so much! I’m on a similar timing schedule a few months behind for my wife and I’ll start a similar pattern myself in March! This is very helpful :D

I think you do as well but I edited my post to add I pay off most of my cards balances before they close so my utilization is usually 1-5%....and lower CLs on Chase cards so they are 15-20% of income
