I love credit cards so much!

It was easy for me, but I stuck to one card and one transaction after a weird experience at Office Depot the day before. She did check that my ID matched my credit card, so that might be helpful to know. My location only had fixed denomination cards, so I bought a $50 Disney GC and a $10 Google Play GC for my husband.

My Staples only sells Disney gift cards in denominations of $50. I got 3 and asked to do $75 on two cards. The cashier did it no problem. YMMV If you have to breakup transactions maybe do a $50 on each card with the office supplies you need broken up to get as close to $63 for the maximum return

Our local Staples only sells $50 Disney GCs

Thanks for the quick responses. I might get 2-$50 DGC's plus the few things I need. I have never done split payment before, so hopefully that won't be too much trouble depending on the cost for the other things I need.

hahahahaha!! Good thing I lowered all that credit LOL, seriously Chase???

Erika, you're approved!
You have been approved for the Southwest Rapid Rewards Plus Credit Card. You will receive your new card, a paper copy of your Cardmember Agreement and other important disclosures in 7-10 business days.

Your credit line is $28,400.00

My stomach was in knots when I filled out the app, how stupid is that??
You play the game seriously...I still get a little bit of butterflies when submitting any app haha!

Very happy for you - something super strange happened with that last application, glad to see you're back on the up and up with Chase!

Thanks! And now I am at 5/24 LOL. But only until the end of March.
Now...I used the 50k link posted here, do I SM to confirm the amount of my spend needed, or just let it ride and hope for the best?

I truly don't think there's any harm in confirming your offer. I always do it in a very unassuming way (i.e. "Can you please let me know how long I have to meet my $2,000 spend?")

I think the doomsdayers on r/churning think people say something like "I just used this shady link - can you tell me the bonus is attached"...UMMM no - it's perfectly fine to ask an innocent question!

Credit reports are once a calendar year, correct? I might pull my Equifax since that's what Chase always checks, but I think I pulled it last July.

I think it’s fine to confirm. I used that same link for my sw plus and never confirmed it. I meant to but then we went out of town and I forgot. I spent 1k on the card in the first couple days, that was over 6 weeks ago and I never got 40k rr points so I’m thinking I’ll see 50k here very soon.

Referred my wife yesterday for Hilton Honors and she was approved. Instead of having a new separate Hilton Honors account for her, I just put my existing HH account number for her when it asked for a HH account number. Trying to keep all HH points in one place. I hope I did not make a mistake, but it seemed to process and went through with no problem. Will this be an issue?

I used that link and confirmed the next day without any problems. Like @SouthFayetteFan said, I just asked very innocently, and asked about timeline to meet the spend and oh, by the way, the offer is 50k after 2k spend, right? :) I did intentionally wait a day to ask because the day I applied I was "on a plane" and "traveling" :rotfl2:

@tink1970 welcome back home. That sounds like if your Lux credit goes through that might be the best redemption of the travel credit yet on it. Jury is out but I want to either be you or @calypso726 when I "grow up."

@schmass I don't know which business card to recommend. We only have Amex or Chase. Maybe one of the Citi business cards? Did you ever get it worked out with Amex and your personal Gold card? Did points post? I have thought about trying to get DH another Amex but the whole pop up/no pop up but still no points thing scares me. I don't need that aggravation.

Can't say definitively, but I have read in the past that this is not a good idea as they can get upset if names on credit card and loyalty account don't match. You might be OK, but it is a risk.

In any event, it is now easy to transfer/share HHonors points with a spouse so no real reason not to have the points go to your wifes account. Not sure if at this point it is best to let it ride, or call Amex and explain you used the wrong HHonors number by mistake and see if they can correct it.

Thanks, I will look into Citi! I was thinking about the Capital One biz card with the $50k spend, because even with Plastiq fees I'd come out way ahead. But then I saw that it's still reported to the credit report, which I'd rather avoid.

I didn't receive the bonus points for the Gold card. But I did get the 100 credit for the SW gift card I purchased, so between that, the monthly dining credits, and the 4x at restaurants and grocery stores, I've made my peace with it (mostly).

So I'm canceling my existing WDW reservation in light of my new one and will get the refund for the deposits back on my SPG Biz. I only have a balance of like $60 on that card right now, so I guess I'll be using the credit to purchase up GCs at Staples or Lowes!

I would agree that you don't want to attempt to use somebody else's loyalty number on a new credit card. This comes up on r/churning from time to time and the feedback ranges from "no big deal" to "you've committed fraud and are going to jail". The truth certainly lies somewhere in the middle there but it has to be a violation of the T&Cs and could be grounds for cancellation of the card or the loyalty account if they wanted to be jerks. I'd imagine if the issue arose, an innocent explanation could easily get it corrected though.

Plus as @GZanta77 said, it's VERY easy to move points back and forth with Hilton. I wouldn't advise anybody to attempt this maneuver as IMO it's too risky :) I happily have my points and my wife's points and then figure out how to navigate it from there.

Hi all, does anyone have any suggestions for a new Biz card for me? I will be spending about $10,000 per month this year, so a big MSR would be fine. No AMEX, as they don't like me right now :(

Chase Sapphire Reserve 1/18/2018
JetBlue Plus 1/31/2018
SPG Biz Amex 3/27/2018
CIC 5/15/2018
Amex Biz Plat 7/31/2018
Amex Biz Green 8/2/2018
Barclay Arrival Plus 9/25/2018
Amex Rose Gold 11/5/2018
Chase Ink Preferred 11/20/2018

Thank you!

I’m wondering while you decide on your next move, if you throw a few months of $10k spend on your Biz Plat (and earn 1.5x MR for $5k+ transactions), whether that will get you off Amex’s naughty list.

Advice requested please :) I currently have 3 Chase biz cards - SW Biz, Marriott Biz, and CIP. I would like to apply for either CIU or CIC in the next few months after DH meets MSR on his Arrival Plus. My SW Biz AF just posted. I haven't called to check for a retention offer yet, but I'm wondering if I should cancel it even if I was offered one so that I would only have 2 biz cards with Chase before doing my CIU/CIC ap? Opinions? I'd hate to leave SW points on the table but getting CIU/CIC would be more valuable. On my 11/2 CIP app I received an instant approval and a $9k credit limit if that matters. TIA for any advice! :goodvibes

@SBWB48 has 4 open Chase Biz cards all under her SSN (no EIN), so she might have some suggestions.

If you want to keep your SW Biz (and Marriott Biz and CIP), or its not time yet to cancel other cards, but you want to go for the CIU/CIC, the trick is to lower your credit limits on your Chase cards to as low as it’s acceptable to you (one billing cycle on the cards before you apply for a new card), and space out the timing of your apps.

After all that drama over your denial last month?! CONGRATULATIONS! I’m so happy to read you’ve got some good news coming your way, and what a way to start a new year!
