@mmmears those considering the Hyatt card before the current 60,000 points offer apparently disappears I sent the email to my husband on the refer a friend and it has the current offer and says to use by January 24th. So while I do think the current offer will expire that is another option.

so you're saying you (and prob others) can send a referral and get the deal thru the 24th? Can it be used more than once (on different people?)

I haven’t been keeping up to date with the Hyatt 60k offer expiration, these posts reminded me of some things Chase has done previously:

Chase Using Dynamic Bonus End Dates To Create Urgency

Temporary Workaround on the new Chase Sapphire 48-Month Rule with Email Referrals.

First, Chase has used dynamic offer end dates to generate a sense of urgency to apply now, but this date could change based on how and when you view the card application. Since there seems to be rumors from credible bloggers (e.g., VFTW) of what the bonus on the Hyatt card will be when the current offer ends, the 60k offer will probably end sometime soon.

Second, it’s been possible in the past to email referrals for Chase’s cards with expiration dates past when a change in offer terms happens, and the email referral will take you to an application with the old terms. The above link shows how this was used as a workaround to the new 48-month restriction on the Sapphire cards (now dead), since the email referral took you to an application with the old 24-month language. Note that Chase did eventually take down the apps that the emails referred to before some of the later expiration dates passed.

Not saying either will extend your window to apply for the Hyatt 60k offer, but it’s a possibility based on previous ways of doing things by Chase. I would email myself a referral link anyway (if you can) just in case.

I can still refer from app on my Hyatt.

Really? I don't see any refer links on there anymore. It was under the 3 dots, correct? I am only seeing View Payment Activity and See Statements for all of them and Redeem rewards also for the UR cards.

It’s missing on my app too. I also thought it was under the three dots before.

Comcast here is $192for internet, basic cable and home phone (it’s actually $5 more w/o phone) No DVR, no HD, no movie channels. I just cancelled and signed up for basic internet (still $90) and Hulu live though I’m quickly finding out there are still channels I’m missing. Ugh.
This is about what I'm paying for fios for the same services. I need to cancel in a couple months when my contract ends

OK, I need help with some DLR questions and I thought I'd go here first before asking over on the DL board as I know you all understand wanting to maximize points as much as possible. I'd like to plan a DLR trip for April 2020 as both girls have off the same spring break that year. Problem is it is the week before Easter so not ideal crowd wise but what are you going to do??? I wanted to get some feedback on hotels and trip length before I started building a plan out - I need to have some info before I pitch this to my DH as this wouldn't likely be his first choice of a trip (he isn't opposed to Disney, he's just kinda burnt out right now).

I'd like to build in some time during the time we are there to maybe see some sights in LA and we have a cousin in San Diego that we'd like to try and see. I though maybe bookending the weekends with these activities and then spending the week at DLR in the hopes that avoiding the weekend might help with crowds. I'm not opposed to flying in and out of different airports to make the trip efficient. Right now we have a lot of UR's and Hilton points but with a plan in place, we could earn more specific points if we needed to. Oh and build up a stash of Disney GC's in the meantime too.

So, with all that being said:

- Whats the ideal amount of in the parks time for WDW vets who've never been in DLR and most likely won't get back for a great while?

- What's your favorite non-DLR hotel? I have been in Anaheim so I understand the proximity.

- Are there any must do ADR's? I know they don't require as much advance planning as WDW but I'd still like to make them as soon as possible.Character meals aren't a MUST have but a cute character is always fun.

- What's the most cost efficient way to buy DLR tickets? Does UT sell them? I understand that getting MaxPass is a must.

- Any other advice you can give?

Thanks!

Unfortunately, we don’t have a lot of options since even though my drive is directly off of an interstate road. Comcast only ran cable on the opposite side. So when we moved here, our options were DirectTV or Dish. Internet service sucked until recently when AT & T came out of these WiFi boxes/routers so we can finally stream at our house. Still not as fast as cable or Fios internet but 100x better than what we had. So I am adding to call Comcast to list my to do list for Wed along purchasing our propane tank and switching propane delivery services. Our neighbor is paying $.35 less a gallon which at 300 gallons a fill up, it I should a lot of $$$$ difference.

I know some people disagree with me on the amount of time in the parks, but DH and I have been twice now. Our first trip we went one day to DL, and our second trip we did two days with one day each at DL and DCA. I think three days would be the MAX amount of time I need to see everything in the parks. I don't feel like there's anything I missed on my total of three days there, and we enjoy riding stuff multiple times in one day. If your kids are young and you want to meet more characters in the parks, maybe you'd need more time.

I've only stayed in Anaheim once and that was at the Hilton Anaheim. It was fine. I posted a review on the DisChurners Hotel thread. It's a further walk than many of the hotels, but it was only about $124/night for the member rate and that was in July during peak season.

The only ADR I've done there is Blue Bayou. It was a good meal, but I don't think it was anything to write home about compared to some of the nicer restaurants at WDW. DH and I ate mostly quick service on our recent trip and had great meals everywhere we went.

I have a little Florida trip fast approaching that I was going to cancel when the accident happened. I haven't canceled yet, and after looking at availability to rebook my points this evening, I'm thinking of first tossing the reservation on the rent/trade board. It's only 3 nights at BWV in a studio Jan 11-14, Fri to Mon, so not too big a deal. The flip side is maybe I'll still go as I doubt anyone is coming home before mid January. Decisions, decisions! I have 11 nights booked going to and from Florida included, but not all DVC.

That'll probably go quick, as they're still selling registrations for Marathon weekend! We're renting DVC for the first time (at AKL, where we've never stayed!), and I'm really excited about it! Now just hoping for much cooler and drier weather than we're having now, so the races won't be so brutal! :)

I really want to buy DVC, but the cost is the main factor that keeps me away. My friend bought SSR years ago and does not regret it. I get overwhelmed trying to read up on it with direct versus resale, etc. I wish I had bought sooner, but I feel like if I keep waiting that's what I'm always going to say.

ETA: When I called for my phone tour and the gift card recently, the gentlemen I spoke too said I should buy CCV now as the prices were going up soon due to Riviera. I don't know if that is what some people are referring too with the reallocation, I'm not educated enough on DVC to know exactly what he meant. I was assuming price per point was increasing.
I know the guy on our cruise that did the dvc presentations said the cost would go up in Jan by $6/point.

We were also WDW vets who went to DLR for the first time this past summer. FTR, we had an absolute blast and cannot wait to get back there. We had four park days (no break days). When we go back, we will do five park days (and build in one break day). We didn't get to do everything we wanted to do, and also really love to do favorites more than once.

- What's your favorite non-DLR hotel? I have been in Anaheim so I understand the proximity.

We stayed at the HOJO, which we really loved, other than I did feel the distance at the end of the night. Others here go pretty often and will have better hotel recs.

We did the Minnie character breakfast at the Plaza in DL. I was less than impressed. The characters were great but we had to basically go ask for characters, and that was sad and not something you should have to do. Others reported similar experiences there about the same time as we did so maybe it would be better when you go.

I'd also say that while everyone says you don't have to get ADR's as early as WDW, we had a hard time finding reservations...could never get Blue Bayou...and the Minnie's breakfast didn't open up until just a couple of days before.

LMT.club was the cheapest we found. Yes, MaxPass is a must. I hadn't planned on adding it everyday but realized how nice it was and just sucked it up and paid the extra $60 every day.

DLR is very much a locals park, and RD is very much a golden time (more than at WDW). We did RD every single day, which we do at WDW as well, and there were times at DLR that I would snap a pic of my family walking ahead of me and there were no other guests in the picture. It's so worth it to do RD there!

There are lots of DLR vets here on this thread and I received a lot of help here and on the DLR forum.

Thanks!

Thank you! I think we are past the character meet stage (or at least 3 of the 4 of us are) so character ADR's or meets aren't as much as the must do's for us. We'd like to at least make sure we his the only DLR rides/experiences and enjoy the difference in DLR if that makes any sense. Now, if a good meal were to happen along the way, Mom and Dad would really appreciate that!

Im really not much of a help with a lot of these I haven’t stayed offsite and I always do the full five parks days but that isn’t necessary. I can’t make any recommendat

I am a pro with food though. My favorite restaurant is probably Carnation cafe pretty cheap for Disney, good food and we love sitting outside right on Main Street. Steakhouse 55 has amazing steak if you are into that. We also loved doing the fantastic package at Blue Bayou not the greatest steak ever but decent and we loved sitting with butt cushions. Fantasmic in Disneyland is way better than world.

Also, the quick service is way better than Disney World. My favorite is probably Ranco Del Zocalo. I also love Bengal Beef for a snack. In DCA Flos V8 and the Cozy cone places are great places to eat too. And get a mint julep and beignets in Disneyland.

Would you say that a Fantasmic dining package is a must do in order to see the show and not line up a long time in advance? I'm all about maximizing our time in the parks.

Thanks for the heads up about quick service, based on these suggestions I think quick service might be the way to go, the kids don't appreciate sit down meals anyway. Mint juleps and beignets are a plus!

Well, I thought and thought and thought about the Hyatt card and then went ahead last night and applied. Even if Chase extends it by a month or 2, DH won't have dropped to 4/24 by then, and we really did want this card. I think it'll be a pain having it in my name, but I want the points.

I just went to the dvc presentation a week ago on the cruise and shockingly (yeah right) there was no mention of this. I just went for the $50obc but I recall him saying the major selling point is the costs of your trips never rise, while those paying cash do. All I could think about was how I would never pay the prices he was quoting as the cash price for rooms anyways so he didn’t reel me in one bit.

Yep. I have had the same experience.

I have to assume most people have some sort of discount, so he really should factor that into the presentation to make it more realistic.

Totally agree.

I get how DVC can work for some people, and not for others. I think I fall into the "others" group. Spending now for future potential possible vacations just doesn't work for my family. And I don't want to be locked into Disney trips. There is a big wide world out there that we want to explore. Also, learning how to use/rent/trade points, not finding availability when I want to go a month out, figuring out use year when the time of year we like to go has changed a lot over the past years, etc. just makes my head spin. But for those who love it, I'm glad that you have it. Just like all the stuff on this thread, I like that we can have different goals and different methods and it's all good. :goodvibes

Idk if it’s necessary you could also try for a fastpass but those go quickly. We tried to do the fastpass route our first trip and didn’t get one 15 mins after park opening and we didn’t want to wait a long time so we skipped it. I’m hesitant to say Blue Bayou is a must do because it’s expensive and you do have kids. It’s a great view tho but maybe compare menus for the other restaurants and the pricing.

If you were to only do one table service though I’d do Carnation cafe. Kid friendly food and I love eating on Main Street it maybe a good way to kick off the start of your trip. I get the burger which is $14 at Glactic Grill the burgers are $12. So I think for the extra $2 Carnation Cafe is the way to go.
