So this is kind of sad but my mom said she will spend $100 on Dh and I each for Christmas. She basically said she will give us cash or we can pick out our own stuff and ship it to her house. I don’t want cash but I literally can’t think of anything I want. I guess it’s a good problem to have but there’s gotta be something I want lol. She’s spent around $30 so far and $17 were things I picked out for Japan.

Traveling stuff is what I've been snatching up this year as well. For me I haven't settled on a electrical converted thingy (yes, showing off my mad electrical skills with terminology!) but I did pick up a fire tablet so I don't bring (aka risk!) my laptop for entertainment and a carry on backpack so I'm not rolling my suitcase + my carry on.

I don’t have a tablet since I just use my phone for everything. I don’t mind the smaller screen. I was going to order sandals but that’s a lame thing to get on Christmas. I always love getting Barnes and noble gift cards but idk I just can’t decide. Dh and I ordered luggage locks since there was a lightning deal on amazon for a 6-pack for $17.99 or something like that.

Someone tell me what to ask for lol

@Lain our spouses sound really similar. As well stated for those who want simplicity Amex is hard. In fact just with Chase I ended up taking his new Freedom (downgraded Reserve) to Costco to use. They don’t check identification and he kept using it instead of his Unlimited. One Amex and one Visa is about his limit. The Apple Pay idea is a good one. I might just need to kidnap his phone for a bit.

@elgerber just so sorry. Everyone who is on here understands the little thrill and satisfaction you get with an approval. And it sounds like you definitely needed a win this week. Stupid Chase!

@tink1970 DH and I had a similar conversation about Target today. He wanted to get his prescription. I’m like no way we need to go tomorrow for gift cards. Your medications can wait!

In the category of not with the wait put down my SPG Lux that finally arrived. Upgraded middle of August and finally got new card today. Maybe just used to the metal but it almost flimsy!

I will think about it on how to deal with Amex and DH. I might have him use one of his Amex’s to get the gift cards at Target and then try again. I don’t want to give up on the Gold completely but am leaning that way. I agree it is such a good card and my 20k referral bonus would be nice. Frustrating though because the pop up is just so random. I already have 7 Amex’s of my own to worry about putting spend on; I want Amex to still like me since there are more cards I want so money on his too is a pain.

At the risk of being shunned forever I am seriously contemplating just having DH have his Visa card right now be the Disney Premier. One card that has gas, groceries, and dining is what really works. I left ours as upgraded when we bought DVC on it this summer and took some time to pay it off with the 0% for 6 months. He will have two cards. I better go look on amazon for a bigger wallet...

So around 7 tonight DH decided he wanted me to come along on his work trip to Las Vegas the entire time. It's a good thing I never canceled that speculative Frontier flight I booked. So I've been running around, trying to pull stuff together and get the house "travel ready." DH says I'm nuts but I don't like to leave a messy house. And I'm sure I don't have enough clothes packed. I've never done this before - throwing stuff in a bag with no planning for so many nights (8). Plus dragging my work computer so I can telecommute AND my personal laptop because I need both a PC and a Mac (first world problems).

Now I need to cancel my United flight for Wednesday AND the car service that I had literally JUST reconfirmed 1 hour before DH said I should just come along.

Honestly I wouldn't have switched my plans except I've been very ill the past week and I have vertigo and I'm honestly afraid to stay alone. I'm nervous about flying with that and nausea. We'll see what happens I guess.

AND I just remembered I need my Priority Pass card!

LOL! On our way to dinner DH mentioned buying something at Target tomorrow and I was horrified "No, we have to use our gift cards but we can't until 10 am Monday." DH "It's still 5% off with the RedCard." Me "Nooooooo." This is where I'll also share we are down to our last rolls of tp and I'm hoping we can make it until Monday at 10!

Fingers crossed for ya! I did that a couple months ago, I think I was waiting for a coupon to show up because hubby is a little picky on brands. We got down to the just the roll in both bathrooms when I asked if I should grab a couple of off-brand rolls or wait it out - but at least hubby was on board and didn't look at me totally crazy. We just made it, I think we were on the last roll in the house when I finally got to the store to use the coupon I have faith you can do it!

@Haley R I have 4 kiddos and I cloth diapered the last two. If you plan to stay home with your babies, I really recommend it. We saved a bundle over disposable dipes and I really loved putting cloth on my baby's bums!

You will be in Japan while the weather is nice, so some good walking sandals would not be an odd request. B and N GC is good for downloads to read on the plane. A good backpack. Packing cubes. An electrical converter thing- a- majig like @gottalovepluto suggested. A gc for somewhere like Eddie Bauer, who carries lightweight travel clothes that resist wrinkling.

In an effort to get my hands on $75k liquid cash to fund a Sapphire Account I think I will carry a balance on Dh's CIU for a bit. It has been DECADES since I have carried a balance on a credit card. Do I need to apply for or request this feature, or just make the minimum required payment for a few months? We are about $750 from meeting the MSR. Will carrying a balance affect getting the sign up bonus? I assume this will negatively impact his credit score - Or will it since it's a business card? Anything else I should be aware of?

My day trip was worth it but I felt like the border agent interrogated me a bit considering I have a nexus card. He didn't seem to like that I went up for lunch and christmas decorations and wanted to know why I couldn't do that where I live. Then he didn't seem to get/care that I wanted Boston Pizza. Sorry I haven't found somewhere like that down here. So he ended up having me shut the car off and searched my trunk, which just has rollerblades, hockey skates, my emergency roadside kit and a beach lounge chair. I don't understand it since I was coming home. Going into Canada this morning all he asked was if I had anything to declare, I said no and he told me to go, didn't even look at my card or my passport. People go down to Portland shopping for the day since they don't have sales tax and it's the same distance from my house as Vancouver, so I don't see the big deal.

At least I've started in on the MSR I have.

I’m getting sandals no matter what. I already bought one pair that is open toed and have a pair I want that are closed toe. I’ll probably just end up getting those. I’ve got a good backpack from Eddie bauer so won’t need that. I haven’t researched into the electrical converters much. I honestly didn’t even have that on my list because I didn’t know if we would need one.
