Question: Looks like we're getting DD a new laptop next week. Will come with Apple Care. So, since we have that added, is there one CC that is better than another for this purchase? One that has better coverage in case of loss or breaks? Or should we just go for MSR?

I was looking into this when I was getting my new iphone Xs. Citi apparently will extend up to 2 years past any coverage. Amex will do a year. Lucky for me I was trying to meet a spend on a Citi card. Apparently the CSR will as well. From all the reading I did though, seems Amex and Citi are better with it (less hoops) than CSR.

I’m getting sandals no matter what. I already bought one pair that is open toed and have a pair I want that are closed toe. I’ll probably just end up getting those. I’ve got a good backpack from Eddie bauer so won’t need that. I haven’t researched into the electrical converters much. I honestly didn’t even have that on my list because I didn’t know if we would need one.
My daughter visited Japan last summer and is going to Sweden next spring. This is the converter she asked for for Christmas... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GYM7L6K/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=A3W15S426VVWJO&psc=1

Right now I’m pretty sure I will be home with our kids. Don’t the cloth diapers get really nasty? Did you have to wash them a ton?

Not at all! I had a sprayer that attached to the toilet water. I sprayed 'solids' into the potty and threw the dipe into the pail with the others. There are soaps that are best for washing with. Couple of washes (though one is usually fine) and a good drying. You will be good to go! I tended to stay on top of washing, like once a day...but that is just me. I don't like laundry building up even now that I have no one in dipes :)

Churners: more excited to meet MSRs tomorrow than to save that 10% on future Target purchases ;)

Oh my, you're right! I guess I'm officially a churner. :rotfl:

I don’t have a tablet since I just use my phone for everything. I don’t mind the smaller screen. I was going to order sandals but that’s a lame thing to get on Christmas. I always love getting Barnes and noble gift cards but idk I just can’t decide. Dh and I ordered luggage locks since there was a lightning deal on amazon for a 6-pack for $17.99 or something like that.

Someone tell me what to ask for lol

You will be in Japan while the weather is nice, so some good walking sandals would not be an odd request. B and N GC is good for downloads to read on the plane. A good backpack. Packing cubes. An electrical converter thing- a- majig like @gottalovepluto suggested. A gc for somewhere like Eddie Bauer, who carries lightweight travel clothes that resist wrinkling.

Was going to recommend packing cubes too, if you don't have them already. :)

I was going to recommend the electrical thingy that was already mentioned, and packing cubes, which were also mentioned. Also a thin, packable rain shell (like North Face or other technical gear from a place like REI).

We generally get checks in my family, and I'm quite happy with it.

Thanks! That seems a little pricey but I put it in our amazon cart so Dh can look at it

ETA:after lots of looking online it seems like we probably won’t even need an adapter in Japan. I don’t think I have any appliances that use a 3 prong plug in so I should be okay.

I do my laundry like once every week or two because it just doesn’t fill up that fast. Dh on the other hand I do his laundry a lot more often and he has two different laundry baskets that he fills up.

I don’t currently have packing cubes already so maybe that’s what I should get! It’s gonna be really hard for me to do but I’m gonna try my best to only pack like a week’s worth of clothes. I’m bad when it comes to packing because I want 5 pairs of shoes and different shorts for each day lol

ETA: found a pack of 7 packing cubes for $20 on amazon so I’m pretty sure I’ll be getting those. I love the idea of everything being organized

I haven’t decided if I want a thin rain coat or if I’ll be alright with just a poncho. We recently bought poncho type jackets from target for $9 each so I might just stick with that since we didn’t get to use them in Orlando.

@Haley R I have 4 kiddos and I cloth diapered the last two. If you plan to stay home with your babies, I really recommend it. We saved a bundle over disposable dipes and I really loved putting cloth on my baby's bums!
LOL Same here. CD'd my last two. Is it sad that I look forward to grandbabies so I can CD them?! There are so many cute cloth dipes these days, probably even more now than when I stopped. You can meet MSR investing in dipes ;)

I saved all mine!!! Is that crazy?!? I figured that they won't go bad and yes, they are so cute :D I didn't spend a fortune, like I know you really can, but just enough to be good. I actually used disposables at night (after one too many nights of baby would have slept through the night if the cloth dipe hadn't leaked...). I cannot wait to use cloth on my grandbabies :D

I was so excited about my first grand baby I went and bought quite a nice assortment of cloth diapers. I would say I got a little carried away. Fun styles
https://softbums.com/, I got a few yards of bamboo velour fabric and my best friend made liners and washcloths. This grandma was all set....
DD had no interest in cloth, imagine that. My friend’s son and his wife used them for both of their daughters. They were well loved and now they are just put away.

That price seems low, which makes me wonder if it'll hold up well? I have the eBags ones. Sometimes I stuff them really full and feel like I'm abusing the zipper, but they've held up over 10+ years.

I only kept a few custom pockets. Part of my switch to cloth was because my son was a heavy night wetter so I was able to stuff a pocket dipe just right and use a wool cover to prevent leaks, finally a dry bed.

Well, a bit off topic but some international intrigue last night, so I'll share!

A few days before Thanksgiving, one of older daughters 3 cats went missing. Her house has four outside doors so no telling when Monica escaped. Monica is 10 years old and primarily an indoor cat all her life but occasionally has walked onto the patio or deck when a door has been open, but only momentarily.

Anyway, the search was on, flyers put up, all the area animal facilities searched, and notified and no success until yesterday evening when husband spotted her under the deck. He couldn't get her as she went into some kind of hole or crevice near the foundation. After contacting daughter who was now in Dublin for the last two nights as a way to avoid the high BA fees (avios) (theres our churning connection), daughter contacted a rescue group in her town, who in turn contacted me as they couldn't then reach husband. I am babysitting the grandchildren and couldn't go but sent younger daughter to the house at about 9pm to meet the rescue crew.

By the time younger daughter got there, husband was back home and with the rescue crew. After getting mud covered all determined to set a trap with food to capture her. A few minutes after the rescuers left, younger daughter and husband checked the trap prior to coming home and settling in for the night and there she was! The rescuers returned to get their cage and rejoice in the success. Last night was day 12 and I was sure she was not returning! She's in decent shape and just has a few fleas (one of the many reasons we prefer to keep cats indoor and treated in this area) and will see a vet shortly. A pic was sent via WhatsApp to daughter who texted back and forth with me for too long last night through the whole process. She's overjoyed that her Monica is safe and will be home this afternoon. Landing at Dulles around 4pm.
