I love credit cards so much!

I'm rapidly approaching the end of my Discover first year. This is the first time I've done the cashback match so I'm not sure exactly when the cutoff is. I read some terms that said 12 statements but they've been saying the day after my statement closes in Dec as the date I'll get my match. So technically my 12th statement closes on 11/11 but my match doesn't deposit until after the next statement (12/11)? Or do I have some leeway and everything earned up to 12/11 doubles? It'd be nice if I didn't need to max out the last category tonight so it makes the 11/11 statement close but I'm prepared to do some damage if we must :)
I know this is a bit late but I messaged Discover today about my cash back deadline. My card opened 12/27, cash back match available 1/18. They said my matching will be thru 12/27

I don't know what the current rules are but in the past if you needed to move the award miles booked on a saver award it cost the same as a standard flight change fee. And usually 12.5K are the base line saver awards for longer distance domestic flights.

Edit: See below from https://www.aa.com/i18n/aadvantage-program/miles/redeem/award-travel/award-travel.jsp

Changing flight awards
Contact American Airlines Reservations for assistance with changing a flight award ticket.

Changes to the origin or destination or airline
  • For MileSAAver awards, origin or destination changes to the itinerary will incur a change fee of $150, even when retaining the same award type
  • For awards involving travel on other airlines, origin or destination changes or changes to the airline(s) in the itinerary will incur a change fee of $150, even when retaining the same award type
  • For AAnytime awards, origin or destination change fees are waived only when retaining the same award type
  • The change fee will be waived for Executive Platinum members using miles from their account
Changes that require a different award type
  • Changes to the itinerary which involve different AAdvantage awards than originally ticketed require a reinstatement of the original award ticket, payment of the applicable award reinstatement fee, and a new award ticket issued
  • The award reinstatement fee will be waived for Executive Platinum members using miles from their account
Changes to your travel date
  • If you change your outbound award travel date to within 21 days of the original booking date, a $75 award processing fee will apply, provided the new date is valid for the original award type claimed
  • This award processing fee will be waived for Executive Platinum, Platinum Pro, Platinum and Gold members using miles from their account
Changing mileage upgrade awards
Contact American Airlines Reservations for assistance with changing a mileage upgrade award.

  • Tickets upgraded with mileage upgrade awards retain all the original fare rules and restrictions of the original purchased fare
  • Changes to the itinerary which do not require a different mileage upgrade award than originally ticketed do not require payment of the award reinstatement fee. Any co-payment amount already paid can be re-applied towards the upgrade co-payment for the new itinerary. Any fare rules, restrictions or fees that apply to the original purchased fare still apply
  • Changes to the itinerary which involve different mileage upgrade award(s) than originally ticketed require a reinstatement of the original mileage upgrade award, payment of the applicable award reinstatement charge, forfeiture of any non-refundable co-payment as well as payment of any fees that apply to the original purchased fare
  • Reservations service charges paid are non-refundable.
Reinstating flight awards
Contact American Airlines Reservations for assistance with canceling your flight award reservation and requesting mileage reinstatement.

  • You can request to have your AAdvantage mileage reinstated for a wholly unused AAdvantage award ticket and if the ticket has not expired. For tickets booked on or after November 1, 2018, you can request to have your AAdvantage mileage reinstated for a wholly unused AAdvantage award ticket if your reservation is canceled prior to departure and if the ticket has not expired.
  • The reinstatement charge is $150 per account for the first award ticket. Additional award tickets reinstated to the same account at the same time will have a $25 charge per ticket.
  • This fee will be waived for Executive Platinum members using miles from their account.

If you cancel the ticket on aa.com, you must call Reservations to request the reinstatement of award miles and refund of any co-payment or processing fee paid.
  • The award reinstatement fee will be waived for Executive Platinum members using miles from their account.

Thanks so much for this info!

I can't decide whether to go ahead and book or not... I have a CP for next year so in theory I should use SW, but I also like the idea of hoarding my SW points. Also I would get free checked bags with my AA card, which most likely I will cancel when the AF is due next year. Might have to go figure how much the points are worth and math it out. The SW flights should be released this Thurs so I'll have more info then...

If your not going to keep your AA card and you don’t typically fly them I would turn your miles in to fly so they don’t expire and you loose them entirely.

Buying gift cards from Kroger stores online (I believe that's thru gift card mall?) Usually comes through as 3x points on Cip, right?

Went to look at the tablets at Verizon yesterday but I'm not terribly impressed. I cracked the screen on mine earlier this year and it barely responds except in one corner of the screen. Verizon basically has two sizes, one is pretty close to my old one but the screens are a good bit smaller, and the others feel enormous for my needs, which is basically reading and light web browsing when traveling. They're also all more than I want to pay, so I'm thinking of getting my same model off ebay and putting my sim card in it. But do to an unforeseen trio of things today (snow, birthday cake, and ticks) I'm home for the night and forgot to stop at Kroger

Thanks! I haven't been able to get messaging to connect so I'm waiting on SM response. That would be great to go by the calendar. I have some transactions pending that I don't think will clear tonight but would clear before my anniversary. I hope I get the same response :)

Yes.

As relates to this thread, my MR points for the Rose Gold card posted, as did 2 of the 4 AU Plat cards. Yay! Two more AU Plat card spends to go.

I missed something here--the Plat AU's get MR points? Or does AU here not mean authorized user?

(And I hope you manage to get Hamilton PR tickets, if only so I can live vicariously through your report . . . )

That’s a nice change!

Regarding the price down RR up thing...that is likely due to the base fare vs tax/fee components on a nonstop vs w/ a stop. Even though the nonstop is cheaper, it somehow has lower taxes/segment fees than the one stop and this a higher base fare costing slightly more RR points.
ooooohhhh, ok! I was really scratching my head over that one.
I just got back 500RR each for our thanksgiving return flights too. Yay for that! Seems prices constantly changing now. I think I am officially never getting up for opening day pricing again.

You can make separate purchases...the other day I did my normal shopping and got cash back for that, and then immediately after bought a few drinks at the cafe part and got cash back for that also. I did also try to then get gas just to test it out, but did NOT get cash back for the gas purchase (I wasn’t expecting to, thought I’d test it just in case!)
Gas works for me w/ dosh.

Ahhhh...didnt know you could stack Kohl's has so many stipulations on how you can use the % offs(no nike, no under armour, etc.) that we've soured on them.
funny you mention that. I just tried to order under armour after reading the kohl posts on the last couple pages. no dice. I never really bother with kohl either, and now remember why.

Amex occasionally targets cardmembers with bonuses for adding additional users and having them spend $x amount on their cards. See https://www.doctorofcredit.com/new-...r-bonuses-hilton-everything-you-need-to-know/

Note that Amex AUs have to be at least 13 years old, and you’ll be asked to add their SSN or Amex will eventually close the cards. (I believe some have opened AUs without SSN, met the MSR and received the bonuses, before Amex eventually closed the cards. YMMV.)

I was loving the RMN for UA purchases for DS. Plus you can use Kohl’s Cash on UA. My DS wears nothing but UA so the outlets get a lot of my business. I do think I am going to back to a Nike for sneakers though. He borrowed mine (sad that my 11 year old wears the same shoe that I do) for Halloween trick-or-treat since his as bright and mine are black and he was the grim reaper. He was commenting how much more comfortable my Nike’s were as I am having to make the trek in hus UAs. I definitely agreed with him.

AU is authorized user here. I received an offer to add AUs to my Platinum Personal card. If each AU spent $500 within 3 months I'd get 5,000 MR points and could earn 20,000 MR max for 4 AU card holders. I was going to add AUs anyhow so I said yes to the offer.

You and me both!

My AMEX points posted tonight! It makes me happy to see all 120K of them sitting there waiting for me to use them. :goodvibes

That's an amazing offer. Wish that one came our way. We are paying for 2 AU cards and never did get a bonus. I hope you can get those Hamilton tickets.

I have 2 boys who only wear UA too. I seem to do best shopping their website when they have additional % off everything, incl sale. The kohl's prices seemed so high.

I have two boys, 10 and 7, who are completely oblivious to ANY brand name, including UA. I think I am very, very glad!! Kohl's does seem to keep excluding more and more from using coupons.
