I love credit cards so much!

So, we've both been getting 50 Marriott points every single day, and then today, neither of us got any!! What is up with that??

Count yourself lucky! lol My DH is probably 50/50 with no points and 50 points. One time for 1000 points. My account I got to go all the way through today for the 4th time, did not Error out on me, and I am 100% at no points each time it worked. So I am very thankful for that boost the rep gave me.

You will need a mailer with a code that has no restrictive language. You can make fake accounts to try and get some sent to you or buy or ask for them on reddit Tuesday code sharing thread. You can hold multiple cards at the same time so no need to cancel,

I had no idea. I figured I was locked out of the same card. DD gets mailers all the time and we ignore them. Such a newbie in all of this...

Enjoy your solo trip. :flower1::yay:
I haven't done WDW solo but I have done 2 solo DL trips and 2 solo US -Orlando trips and 1 US-Hollywood trip. I've also done NY, Chicago, Grand Canyon, Phoenix, Boston solo. Sounds like a lot once I type it out. I travel for work about once a year. I usually extend the trip by a few days to explore and have fun in a new place.

Going solo is great as you get to eat when and where you want. See the sights you want. Ride what you want as many times as you want (may have ridden Gringotts 5 times in a row in single rider line!). Toughest part was waiting for the parade as no one to hold my spot if I needed a bathroom break. I don't have any issues eating alone or being by myself. I am pretty introverted so that helps.

This isn't my first solo trip, just the first Disney one. Only child so used to doing stuff by myself and if I feel like I want a conversation I'll find someone to chat with

FOP has impressive technology and I look forward to seeing what they'll do next, but I wouldn't wait more than 30 min for it. Maybe the hype was too much and therefore my expectations but I wasn't blown away. It was good though but everest was more fun.

Just can't wrap my head around Hilton point values. I'm waiting for the hotel in Seattle to open award space for our trip next year and am shocked every week to see I need 70k Hilton for a single night on a queen Murphy bed. Murphy bed. Oddly enough it's on par with cpp valuations so it's not a terrible redemption (~0.48) but it's just under half of our entire point balance... for one night... in a Murphy bed. I know this is totally why we have points but it's hard to reconcile using so much at once, especially since if we hadn't opened the CC we'd have not had enough points! We'd have had to wait until we did another stay to earn the rest - that would have been 5 stays/13 nights for 1 free night. I want this hotel because it's very convenient so we're willing to spend the points, it just hurts doing it :)

In other news, dropped off hubby's car for inspection today. On the way he wonders if it's finally time to get hit for brake replacement. Sigh. It is! because we don't have a MSR to meet right now! cuz we can't think in advance! :p
So a hit for over $500 today. If he'd have mentioned this when I made the appointment two weeks ago I could have set the Disney card plan into motion. We didn't even need to cancel his Disney card I don't think, he's got an offer for the Premier card upgrade with a $50 statement credit. Probably could have taken that then referred him to the no AF version again. One charge to meet MSR, get the $200 off the brakes and make $100 in Disney money. It's been in my back pocket for when we needed to make large purchase we can't otherwise wrangle a discount on. (He's 3/24 and by the time we're interested in more Chase cards he'd be back to 3/24 so plenty of room.) Instead we'll get 2% back on my "new" Discover (although I'm rapidly approaching the end of the first year) as I don't think we have any better options. Whoop de doo :)

About a month or so. I paid my bill as soon as the AF and first purchase cleared. Then it was about 3 weeks for the miles to show up.

It’s the deal with one purchase and AF? You have to pay the AF. Also if it’s the Biz Card, the website is pretty wonky, make sure your can see the “master account” and your card, they are listed separately
Thank you both! Yes, it was the deal with one purchase and AF to get the bonus. I haven’t even set up the online account access yet, I need to do that. It is the biz card so thanks for that tip too.

For those of you that had the CIP expedited - did you receive in via USPS? I was approved on Friday morning, requested it to be expedited via a phone call on Friday morning also, but I haven't received it yet and don't see it in my informed delivery for today either. :confused3 I'm ready to get started on it!

Chase expedites always come UPS for me.

I got CIP last December and CIC in the Spring. I want to go for CIU soon (almost done with Amex Gold). Should I try to do CIU before canceling? Is it worse to cancel a card after one year or have two other open Chase business cards? I think my overall credit limit with Chase is okay relative to my income.

I'd try applying for the CIU before canceling either the CIP or CIC. Worst case, you get denied, have to wait 30 days to try again, and if you have to close the CIP during that time then you'll have freed up more CL for another biz card.

You can sign up for UPS My Choice (free) and get e-mail notification that it's coming. I get one the day before and again after it's delivered.

Question about trip insurance and the CSR.
I'm about to book a cruise (my first one!) for January 2019. I'll be flying out of Boston to Tampa. If I use my CSR for the flights and for the cruise and there is a snow storm that delays or cancels my flight causing me to miss the cruise. Would the cost of the cruise be reimbursed through the CSR trip insurance? I was thinking I'd purchase trip insurance through Carnival, but then thought maybe the CSR is good enough?? Thoughts?

lets say I apply and get approved for the Chase Southwest business card this November. if I complete the spend in January. will the bonus miles award that I would receive after January, count for the 2019 calendar year?

Yes. Any points earned after your Dec statement closes will count towards 2019.

No, it's not good enough for that. What you want is "missed connection" coverage. CSR has trip delay, but that would only cover additional expenses like a hotel if you're delayed.

You can download and read through the coverage here:
https://www.chase.com/card-benefits/sapphirereserve/travel

Cruise line coverage is usually more expensive. Would recommend also checking on Insure My Trip.
