I love credit cards so much!

I got to hit both the Disney outlets by WDW last April for the first time! So much fun and such good deals!! Can't wait to go back with a car again. We hit both stores at about 10am and it was a total zoo! Well worth it though.
Dang, now I’ve got to save some gift cards for the outlet. Anyone see any DCL stuff there?

I used a gift card just a couple weeks ago when we went. Since you have a car you should definitely go. Just avoid a weekend and either go early or late afternoon. Apparently deliveries of new stuff is Monday and Thursday. We went on Tuesday the 24th about 4 and it was not too bad; just be prepared to look for parking and pay. Good deals though. We went then and Halloween merchandise originally at $32 was on sale for $15 at resort ($32 at MK) but at warehouse it was $5! I seriously wanted to go twice last trip but my sweet husband shut down that idea pretty quick. Since I didn’t want to go enough to drive and go on my own I guess I will have to console myself with one outlet visit per WDW trip. Since going for the first time last January the outlet is my new obsession! :)

Thanks! That would actually be perfect timing for us because we'd be going early afternoon on Thursday!

Unrelated: I must be going crazy. I could've sworn I had a $25 off Plated Amex offer on my SPG biz so I charged a box for next week to that. Looking now, I realize I don't. It's on DH's Amex. I don't know how I messed that up. I'm going to call Plated in a few and see if they'll cancel that charge and move it to DH's card.

@Lain What is the highest bonus you have seen for the Chase United Explorer Mileage Plus? I have the 50,000 mailer offer expiring soon. I can hold off and take a chance that they might offer a better promo as I don't need the points for immediate travel plans. The only other problem with waiting (besides not getting a better offer) is that I am now at 4/24. I would have to not get any new card until I am 3/24 to save a spot for the United card.

Last year, 70k. This year, 60k. There may have been some variation of the offers with AF waived or statement credits.

I have been only been to the Vineland one but have gone 3 separate trips now. They have stuff from all the resorts and DCL. There was actually quite a bit this last trip from DCL. Last January when we went a lot of stuff from Christmas season, in May a ton of stuff from the recent opening of Shanghai. This last trip more of a mix but definitely a lot from DCL. Derek Burgan of Touring Blogs does a monthly outlet report that details what he finds. https://blog.touringplans.com/2018/10/31/mmm_oct2018/
What he got in October is some different stuff then what we found. I would have bought that Peter Pan pillow without a second thought. But more to the topic $150 if my gift card stash was gone within an hour.

@Lain What in the world are you doing answering questions at this hour? lol But, I was wondering that too. Just got my mailer yesterday, it took 5 weeks from signup of MileagePlus to get my 50,000 United offer. But I just got the CIC, so how long do I need to wait to get the United Card? Offer says it expires 12/31 Or should I hold out for a better offer. Like @trenty, don't think I have immediate use of them, just trying to get some saved up.

Yeah the site has had major issues.

The reason is because if you spend now, and the statement closes in dec sometime, none of those points will go towards the spend for your CP. you need 110k points. The cards get you 100k, so you still need another 10k points from spend/shopping/dining etc.

ETA: if you do the in flight app for the personal you can get 50k bonus points though, so the spend points won’t matter.
thanks...

A special king of crazy goes over me when I step into the Character Warehouse or the VS Outlet. I could be in there scouring for hours and it's never a low cost affair.

A few quick questions from an overwhelmed newbie:
1) DH has had a SW Premier card with me as unauthorized user for years. AM I able to apply for the SQ card myself and get the bonus, or do we have to close that card for 2 years?

2) DH is a a blogger and we were denied the Chase Ink Preferred ( we have great credit and personal income, also I have a Disney Chase and then he has the SW chase obviously )but he does not make much off the blog, maybe $1000/year) They did say we could appeal and asked us to proof business expenses like office rental/utility bill etc, but he works out of our home so I'm not sure how that works? My DH is not hugely onboard with churning. so hes not going to go to great lengths to get this card. Should we try for a different Chase card? Any suggestions? And any downside to applying right away ( the business card does not count toward the 5/24 right?)

Thanks in advance for your help. The information for a new person starting out is overwhelming!

1- You should be able to get the card. Being an AU does not preclude you from the bonus.

2- Did he apply as a sole proprietor using his name and SS number as Tax ID? It sounds like maybe you used a company name? Use his name as company name and they should not ask for proof of business stuff.

ETA you need to wait 30 days from his first CIP app to apply for another biz card.

I received an offer from Citi Bank with a 60,000 point bonus (equivalent to $750 in travel…or I assume $600 cash back). I think I’ve exhausted Chase for the time being as I don’t want to apply for business cards nor do I want a card with a high annual fee. Thoughts??? Any other information you need from me?

Newbie Question:
I have a new Chase Preferred card and a new Capital One card with the bonus points successfully earned. I want to buy three airline tickets for a family trip next summer. What is the best process for doing so?

I hope this isn't too dumb a question, but as I started looking at potential flights, I realized I didn't know the next steps.

TIA!

I really hate the end of daylight savings time. It really messes with my sleep, so my body is waking up an hour earlier than it usually would.

The one major thing that I value from a United MileagePlus card is increased award availability. As a MileagePlus cardmember, you have access to additional award inventory that's not otherwise available to the general public. Also, UA opens up their award seats about 335 (or 338?) days before departure, so if you have any travel plans that include United in the next year, it's a good idea to have your points in place and a MileagePlus card added to your account.

I'm not sure this helps, but I'll offer a few personal anecdotes and some thoughts on what we plan to do.

My wife, who's never held a United MileagePlus card, but flies United often for business, received a targeted mailer for 60k UA points earlier this year (iirc, early summer). I should have had her jump on it, but we were working on other MSRs and I wanted to keep her file clean of personal cards to get through the CIU and CIC first. Since then, the offer she sees on her United account and app bounces between the 40k and 50k offers, and she's received a few 50k mailers (the most recent one about 3 weeks ago), which we've shredded. (Strangely, my wife may have a valid mailer for 50k or better, but still see only 40k online or in app.) I'd note that there's a link to the 50k in-flight offer, that supposedly works even if you're not in-flight, so that may be an option if you don't find yourself targeted to 50k or better when you want to apply. At this point, I think we're going to wait to jump on a 60k or better offer.

We can afford to wait on my wife because all her travel is booked and paid for through her company, so she doesn't need the award miles or extra award availability, and her bags are expensed. She's got a little stash of UA miles going and I'm still sitting on about ~395k UA miles to tide us over, so we're not in desperate need of miles; and if we do, we can transfer UR points over to UA.

Personally, I've never been targeted with anything better than the public offer. I've held a United MileagePlus card since college, so I'm never going to cancel it, and even though it's been downgraded to the no fee card, it's like Chase/United knows I'm not a new customer they need to attract with better offers. (I still get increased award availability and a 25% bonus on MPX with my no fee United card.) I'm going to drop back under 5/24 early next year, go for the CIU, then probably round off my 5/24 with a United card -- even at the public offer -- just to top off my miles.

I would still put 2-3 months between apps. If you decide to take the 50k mailer offer, you should be fine to apply at the end of December.

I think with the recent changes -- death of the Sapphire and SW DD, Sapphire bonuses extended to once per 48 months, the Marriott/SPG restrictions that went into effect on 8/26 -- the choice of what personal cards to use a 5/24 slot for has become a lot more limited or not as compelling, and there are only so many biz cards you can go through before Chase starts declining you or you have to resort to the EIN trick, so it's easier to justify using up a 5/24 slot for the United card.

the SW personal card..... which is the best choice? I'm thinking either the $69 card or the new fancy one...why would the newer one be worth the extra AF?
