Back at home at last. Train was on time, so we pulled into Union Station just before 7 AM, home by 7:30 AM. A good, long trip (Sunday - Sunday). I realized I didn't actually take that many pictures, whoops. Here are a few - boarding the train at Union Station on the way out, a daytime picture from our balcony at Dolphin (overlooking Swan), a nighttime picture showing the smoke from DHS fireworks, and back at the Orlando train station yesterday.

I'm iffy on Dolphin as a whole - it was ok but the Wifi was slow, and frankly, if you're gonna justify your resort fee by providing premium Wifi, it better be premium. Loved being so close to the Boardwalk though. Train was pretty typical. I was 2 hours late getting into Orlando. We got stuck in Richmond for a while because of a broken down freight train. It happens. We were early getting home though, and that's what really counts.

Bonus picture of me running the Wine and Dine 5k. Our first! Really enjoyed the runs and will probably do it again next year.

Next trip - February for the Princess Half Marathon Weekend, our first DVC stay - a split between Boardwalk and Kidani Village!

Just hopping back in here, the site was down over the weekend so catching up- question about a BCE MSR... We hit the 1k spend quickly(ack vet bills) and I calculate spending 1134- the credit is already on the page with $200 to be credited on statement date.... am I good? I was thinking since it now shows a MSR of 934 it's less than 1k.... or since the credit is there it's good to go? (that was fast)

You are good to go!

I got an email yesterday to upgrade to SPG Lux, getting 50k points for $2500. Previously I had the 15k/$1k offer.

Friday night we stayed at a Fairfield I&S. I held the reservation with DHs SPG lux so it could earn the extra points and also go towards MSR. When we got there they swiped the card but it didnt go through... thought that's weird, we never have trouble with cards just going back to NE. So DH gave her his CSR, same thing. Ok, it must be their system. We can stop by in the morning on check out, or it should charge to the original card. Nope, it went to CSR :badpc::badpc::badpc:

Sounds like a fun trip. I am considering dolphin for our late May trip to visit dd at her DCP for her bday...because it would be free. I don’t know that I can amass enough UR by then to cash out to cover a wdw Resort.

Can I ask why you chose to take the train over flying with the rest of the family? Seems like it really cuts down on the trip because of the long travel time.

I've stayed with that view before....oh I miss it! I LOVE it there......

IDK if it's just my computer or everyone but my Dis site was down all weekend (when I checked it) and now I can't use the search feature....is this happening to anyone else? I'm searching for (I think) it was @SouthFayetteFan explanation of why ALL spend for the SW CP should be in 2019, not starting now and finishing in 2019....b/c of the bonus amounts....(?) but as I said.....any help please? my search feature is kaput.... I've got Dh's new biz card here but I had planned on rereading that great post again....

I booked with the secret travel agency for Jan to drop dd at her dcp. We got WL for $928 AFTER tax for 3 nights. I paid for it with discounted GC that I acquired through the various means. I haven’t tracked my GC purchases but I am guessing they average out around 25% off, making the room somehwere in the $700 range. I need to start tracking my GC purchases somehow. Anyone have a good way of doing that?

My mom is toying with meeting us down there. If she does I will upgrade to GF b/c the last time she went to wdw (2004 for dd’s 5th bday) she said she’d like to stay there next time. Figured it would be a nice surprise.

Yeah the site has had major issues.

The reason is because if you spend now, and the statement closes in dec sometime, none of those points will go towards the spend for your CP. you need 110k points. The cards get you 100k, so you still need another 10k points from spend/shopping/dining etc.

ETA: if you do the in flight app for the personal you can get 50k bonus points though, so the spend points won’t matter.

Switched from two weeks to approved for the CIU this morning!! I think I’m going to call and get it expedited when I get into work this morning. I’m at $4250 on SPG Biz. I have two different $300 bills I’ll need to pay early next week that are non-category spend, so it would be nice to earn 1.5x back on those. I don’t think it’ll take me long at all to finish up the CIU MSR, so hopefully we can apply for the CSP for DH next month.

And for those of you who aren’t keeping a spreadsheet, that’s 3 Chase business cards for me in less than 12 months with no recon.
What’s # did you call? Just applied for the CIC so, of course, I need to check up on it.

Note that it's not totally free, they do still have that resort fee (and the list of things they give as justification is total BS to me). But, of course, paying only the ~$28/day resort fee is a lot better.

And sure. So, I have really bad balance/vertigo/motion sickness issues. I've flown in the past, and it's about a 50/50 proposition if I make it okay or if I get really sick. Last year I flew to WDW, my first time flying in about 8 years, and I got so sick on the flight that I was out of commission for the next 2 days. But flying home was ok. Go figure. Even when I make it ok, I still need a very large dose of Dramamine at a minimum, so I'll be sleeping the rest of the day after arriving.

So I can gamble on losing a couple of days of vacation from flying, or I can just take a little longer in the train, step off in Orlando, and be totally fine. And the train is not that bad, I'm very lucky with the timetables. It leaves here in DC at 7:30 PM. I board, have dinner, go to sleep, get up, and have breakfast, then it's only a few hours until we're there. If it's on time, it reaches Orlando at 1 PM. Last Sunday, unfortunately, we were delayed with freight traffic, so we got there about 3 PM. Still not too bad. DW flew on Sunday - got up at 4 AM to get to the airport for a 7 AM flight, got to MCO at 9:30 AM, and got to the hotel by 10:30 AM. I met her a few hours later, and I was definitely more well-rested than she was.

For the return, the train departs Orlando at 1:30 PM, so we had time to do a few last things in the morning. Got back to Union Station at 7 AM the next day. So yes, it is longer travel time, but I make it healthy and ambulatory, which is not the case with flying.

Approved for the CIP this morning! Thank you so much for walking me through my first business app.

Congratulations @DisneyMandC and @mamathompson! What wonderful news to start the week!

@DisneyMandC, welcome to the tres Chase biz cards club!

@mamathompson, you can call CIP's customer service line to request your new card be expedited to you: 1-800-945-2028.

I finished the MSR on my Amex Plat yesterday. The 100K MR already credited! I was not expecting that!

I was able to book our flights to London & I have about 24K MR left.

party:

Now to choose which card to apply for next... I have sold things online a few times & that CIP looks appealing... :scratchin

If I eventually want CIP, CSR, United & CF - which order would you apply in? CIP & CSR seem to be "the big ones" & I feel like I should wait 6 months or so between applying for them.

Just noticed my flight back from MCO in March on SW has my name misspelled. Is there an easy way to fix it? I recall someone here had a similar issue.
I had this issue with flights back in June. I noticed it well before the flights, it was my friend's first name and I'd made a typo and added an extra 'L' in her name. I was actually able to contact someone via Twitter (of all things) and she was very helpful and got it all sorted out. I'm glad I did, because my friend noticed the dude going letter by letter comparing her ID to her boarding pass.

I had tried calling, but there was always a problem with that or the wait was outrageously long. So I started poking around online and wound up on Twitter! I never go on Twitter, but I do have an account and was able to get it fixed.

I'm semi watching this... Now DH and I each have SW Biz and CIP, mine being 5/17 and 10/18 and his being 5/18 and 10/18. I'd love to do a CIC for someone next, though it would be a bit off still.
I need to start tracking my GC purchases somehow. Anyone have a good way of doing that?
I just have a spreasheet where I put the date I got the gift card, what store, a details column so I can mark if I used an AMEX offer, swagbucks GCs, RMN, a combo, etc, and then I have a column for the value of the gift card and one for what I actually paid. Then at the top I have it set up to total up the columns for value and what I've paid, so I can do a total percentage for my stash. I do calculate it as what I paid vs face value (67%) vs percent off (would be 33%) but that could easily be switched.

Here's a snapshot:

2018-11-05_8-00-36.jpg

I do add the cumulative AMEX offers and RMN as their own line, just as a negative number against what I paid, just so I can track to make sure it shows up. For AMEX I'm thinking the 10% Lowe's/Staples ones, or the BB one where it was $30 back after spending $300. So those Happy Guy purchases got 10% back eventually, and it's on a separate line.

I just applied and was approved for the Amex Rose Gold Card! Even more exciting is the fact that I DIDN"T GET THE POPUP!!!! I've been getting the popup since August and have since been putting spend on all my Amex cards. Glad to know I'm not on the naughty list anymore!

I would apply for the CIP first due to the larger sign up bonus....then every 2-3 months apply for another Chase card..maybe alternating a business card with a personal card
