I love credit cards so much!

DH got some of the targeted spending offers on his personal SPG... the extra point on grocery and restaurant spending on up to $2k, and now the 10k bonus points for $3k spending.

Alone, I didn't care. But thinking of them stacking... If I can do the $2k through grocery/restaurant, then the last $1k on whatever...
  • 2pts/$ + 1pt/$ groc/restaurant on $2k = 6k pts
  • 2pts/$ on $1k = 2k pts
  • Get bonus 10k pts
Total is 18k points for $3k spend? Did I miss anything?

Yes, but if you can buy VGC at grocery stores with your AMEX then you can use the VGC at Costco. I've done it quite a bit.
Oh, perfect. I have been reading so many posts about VGCs and MCGCs that I know I want to try that route.
Do these act like the VISA prepaid cards I sometimes get in the mail for rebates, that you can't use at the pump and seem a pain to use, lots of stipulations?

I think so, yes. I have no problems at Costco or at my grocery store (I've bought VGC at the grocery store if I couldn't max out the grocery category in a given quarter, then turn around and use it later on at the grocery store). Gas pumps are problematic - you have to go to the cashier and put a fixed amount on the pump; I don't like to do that so I don't use them there. Some restaurants and doctor's offices have problems with them but some don't. I use them for online purchases a lot. Most recently I've been converting them to MOs for my contractor.

Basically I'll use them for anything that is consumable and that doesn't take Amex.

Ack, I messed up. That screenshot was for DH, the quote above was supposed to go in that post. But overall I am seeing $100ish more a night at the Dolphin in 2019, for the same days we stayed in 2018

Oh that is interesting about the deposit! Yes the price is crazy. It is more than the Epcot resorts for my dates in Dec, and the same price as them for my Jan dates. :sad2: As I mentioned about a week ago, I think marriott broke Swolphin like they broke alot of things recently.:headache:

What would you say is too small of a volume for the 6qt?
A cup or two. Like whipping cream is not so easy with 1/2 cup or cup. A regular batch of cookies is fine, a double batch is great. I do a recipe for 6 lbs of pizza dough easy peas.

And of course none of the deals are on the SPG Biz I'm still working on MSR on lol. I'll just grab Disney GCs from BB&B and Lowe's though. I need to read the fine print for the supermarket purchase. I have another $10 off $50 Walmart grocery coupon so I may use it on that if Wal-Mart will work.
I’m still working on my SPG Lux and really no good deals. A few restaurants I saved ‘just in case’ but most are either far away or places we never eat at. Of course I still have 10% off Lowes and Staples but those are on SPG Biz, not Lux :(

How do people feel about the Disney CCs? Seems like a low return on spending
If you are looking to build reward points and cash back, there are much better options. It was the first card I got, just to earn some cash I could use on disney trips. Just read here for a bit and you'll get an education. I'm learning so much from everyone on this thread.
Thanks for posting.

I noticed the DH has an upgrade offer in his Hilton Amex account for 150K points with $3k spend on Ascend and $4K spend on the Aspire. Any thoughts of one versus the other?

Even though they are a pain, we would use the Delta credits. Not sure we would use the resort reimbursement unless we switched to Bonnet Creek for our Christmas Disney trip. It would be nice for him to have a PP membership, but was planning to get him the CSR in January right before my AF is due. He has diamond status right now, but will be gold based on stays this year. He originally signed up for the no AF Hilton in January of 2011, so will his resort credit reset in Jan/Feb?

Apparently this is the new 100 year anniversary one, so that's why it has the special bowl :)
Does it have a “special,” ie more expensive, price too?
As others have said, I’d be likely to break it. Within 1 week of installing new tile floors in our kitchen both DH and I broke something glass Fortunately the floor wasn’t damaged.

Ugh I loved how easy it was to meet my CIP MSR with PNC. Went to do same for DHs new CIP that arrived but getting hung up on the security part. How long should I wait to retry?

Wow!!!! Crazy turn of events. I’m currently sitting in the emergency room waiting for a plastic surgeon. My for year ran smack into the front door and require several stitches. We fly out of dca Monday morning. Does anyone know of a good hospital in Orlando to remove the stitches? May be Tuesday or Wednesday. Thanks. Sorry this has nothing to do with cc.
Sorry for your kiddo. Probably can get stitches out at Urgent Care. It not a difficult skill to acquire (I am the go-to suture removal person in my family)
