I don't know if you want to travel to eat scrapple. lol
Hahaha! My rule* is try it once! Biggest regret on my time in Beijing is I never made it to the market where they sold scorpions on a stick. (Although apparently that particular weird food craze is hitting state fairs so maybe I’ll see it in the US first?)

*I do have my limits- blood, organs, bowl of bugs- solid no!

I started a new temp job Monday and already hate it, not a good office culture, going to be boring, similar to last job I quit just dif industry, have to take a min 4 hours to use pto, an hour for lunch and other stuff. At least when they try to go perm I can say no. But it's money which is the important thing.

Thank you for the thread not exploding though I'm sure it will now that I've said something. Training all day with little time to go on the boards etc, clearly they don't understand the need for sanity breaks. At least I have wdw next week so only 7 more days of work including today. Going to be so hard to come back though.

Still hoping for that othet job, they still haven't posted it but I also haven't heard anything. Guessing I should jist leave it and then if they post it I'll send something again or at least make sure they have my resume for it.

Sorry about the bummer temp job. But at least you have WDW to look forward to! Are you going for the W&D race weekend?

:rotfl:agreed!
To be fair I don't think some places are using as much 'scrap' in it and it's mostly meat, but it's more of a quirky thing you try when you get here, not necessarily the point of a trip like Pizza in Naples or Escargot in France :)

I haven't read them personally, but I've seen great reviews about the Percy Jackson series. They're always near the top of the young adult/children's lists on Goodreads!
Thanks. We actually have that series but I had to pack up his "playroom/library" for the upcoming hardwood floor install. He can read that sometime next year when I get his room back together.

IDK this is way OT but when I want recommendations I always go the local library and ask....I Love librarians! they always have good book advice-
Good idea. I'll also email his school librarian and see if she has any recommendations. I'll continue my hunt on Amazon for now so I can get something in his hands quickly.

Ok PP lounge and restaurant usage.... I've had a PP card for a couple of years and never really used that perk (!!!!) but upcoming trip is gonna take us thru LAX and BOS....both of which I see have lounges and restaurant options. I have a PP thru my CSR,so that covers me+2 fam members(?) and I also have 10 PP options from a Hilton card for our 4th fam member..... How do I use these? Just show the card at the restaurant of choice ,or lounge and get in? What else do I need to know? FWIW we'll be flying a combo of Jetblue,American and Alaska..... How many uses per airport visit is the pass usable for? Like if I'm at an airport for many hours b/c of a delay, can we visit a restaurant using PP,and then later on another PP restaurant? Or is it only one usage per airport visit?
PP tracks by restaurant/lounge visit, not airport so you could visit all the places in an airport if you so chose.

Even though you have 2 PPs in your name you can’t use 2 PPs in one place. Person on the PP must be using it. Could you use 4 visits on the Hilton PP? Something to look into.

At LAX specifically google up what terminal you will be flying in and out of and then look at lounge locations and maps of the airport to see if it’s even feasible to visit the PP spots. (Fwiw AS LAX lounge is usually, but not 100% of the time, closed to PP.)

Really :offtopic::offtopic: but looking for recommendations for a book series for DS11, 7th grade to read. He just finished the Horizon series and Harry Potter. He told me to pick something since so far I've had good picks. (He really picked out the Horizon series himself when I made him get a book at the school book sale and not just crap :)). We have the upcoming Fantastic Beasts on pre-order so he needs something to hold him over for the next month.

This is what I was going to say. My 12 year old really likes Percy Jackson.

I'll second the rec for the Percy Jackson series. Lemony Snickett series. There's a great podcast called What Should I Read Next and I know there's been a few episodes in the past that focused on middle grade reading that you may want to check out!

*googles Scrapple*
You know guys, I felt decently cultured prior to discovering their are staples of the regional diet in parts of America I’ve literally never heard of. I obviously need to use these points towards some more domestic travel!
I think scrapple is something you have to grow up with in order to like it. I moved to the midatlantic when I was in my mid20s. I still cannot stand scrapple :crazy2: We get a half hog each year from a local farmer. Apparently the scrapple made by the butcher is The Best my dh and kids have ever had!

I think I have figured out how I'm going to meet my Plat spend! Seven friends and I are going to the Hershey Spa! I'll pick up the bill since I have a season pass discount for 10%. I get the CC points and my friends get to save 10% on their services. Seems like a fair deal to me :) Plus it will be awesome to have a relaxing girls spa day with terrific friends!

I can at least say I have heard of it but I have tried or will try it. Just like grits. My friends in AL ruined a perfectly good Krispy Kreme donut be putting grits. Such sacrilege!
Wait what? I love grits and I love Krispy Kreme. I can’t imagine putting grits on KK. Is that what you meant? Gross.

I have lived in the mid-atlantic my entire life (PA and MD) and have never touched the stuff. But then again I have never tried sausage or hot dogs either.

You got it! They cut the KK in half and put the grits in the middle so it was a KK and grits sandwich :sad:It was more of a joke since my friends know I am not a grits girl and teased me royally about it. And, luckily, there were plenty that were not contaminated.

Thanks. I ended up ordering The False Prince and Mark of the Thief both by Jennifer Nielsen since she wrote one of the Horizon books that he liked very much. I started to get The Hunger Games but I wasn't sure if his teacher would be ok with that series.

Go figure, I knew pork roll was a regional thing but I thought by now people knew of it - kinda like scrapple. But I guess some stuff doesn't get the notoriety of others.
Pork roll is almost a staple, I'm gonna have such a hard time moving if people don't at least have pork roll :p I moved to the middle of the state for college and went through soft pretzel withdrawal, and I looked it up once, a few of my favorite brands are totally regional. I told hubby there were only 26 states we could consider moving to until they expand their footprint or start shipping out of state

Oh....I love pork roll..although growing up on LI my parents called it Taylor’s Ham...we had it for lunch almost every day when we were kids

During the summer, we were in PDX and went to a restaurant there with 4 of us. Only 3 of us ordered, but she charged us for 4 people. I called Amex and argued my case and they refunded the extra charge after I sent them a copy of the receipt. If you can't use the extra Hilton PP, I wonder if you can have one person at your table ask for a separate check and only order a coke? Of course, this would only work for a restaurant not a lounge. Looking forward to hearing other responses!

What is the PP charge again? I'm trying to figure out things for next summer, when we'll have 4 people at one of the restaurants.

Going to have to agree with @disneymagicgirl on this one. I love grits and I love KK, but not together. Yuck!
