I love credit cards so much!

When you go to the upgrade site, you put in your info and click through to see your offer before you actually submit anything. My guess is you won't have anything and the email was just in error. But I am now curious... but yeah if the SPG Personal is a goal, maybe not the best idea, can't have that within 30 days of having any Marriott personal card.

Yup, it was an error. I put in my info and it came up that they couldn't offer me that card or something to that effect.

In other utterly randomness, hubby got a AA mailer yesterday. :confused3
First one. I guess create an account, use it once, forget about it and never log into it again for 4-5 years, then cross fingers? Honestly have no idea how they picked him up now, I'm pretty sure we couldn't get back into his account now even if we remembered the login info. The credit world is weird.

I’ve been gone a long while from the thread but popping back to ask you knowledgeable folks a question. Last weekend I showed up at a Hampton for which I had a reservation and the hotel claimed I cancelled it. I did call to change it from two nights to one night but I double checked online that they had not cancelled the whole thing. The online account showed the revised reservation as one night. The confirmation number stayed the same.

Anyway, the hotel was full and basically told me “Too Bad, not our fault, hit the road.” They were very rude to me. I had booked a group for that night, and everyone else stayed there but I was forced to go elsewhere. Anyway now that I’m home I see that I made a screenshot of my “final” reservation online. Should I call Hilton again to complain and send them my “proof” or is this just par for the course? That night I did call The main reservation number but they told me the same thing. They were just nicer about it. I think they should give me some extra bonus points. Otherwise, I may have to stick with Marriott properties where they treat you better, lol.

Exactly. I was thinking that since we are going to Uber from AKL to RPR, we might save time by starting with Uber at AK (rather than use Disney transportation) but not sure that's a good idea.

I know you can add a stop to your trip, but I've never done it so I don't know how it works exactly. You could probably let your Uber driver know that you'll just be getting your bags and then going to RPR, if they are up for that trip they would probably wait near by... We ubered from RPR to Movies on our last trip, hopped out to drop our bags then called an uber to DS to meet some friends for brunch, and we got connected with the same driver because he was still in the drop off area :) I haven't done much bag drop off/pick up with deluxe hotels so I dont' know where AKLs is.

You can add multiple stops to a ride, but each stop should be limited to no more than 3 minutes, or the driver has the right to cancel the ride. The luggage in both Kidani and Jambo House are right when you walk in and to the left so a fairly quick pick up if no-one is ahead of you in line.

ETA: If you can keep the stop under 3 minutes, you will save on the booking fees and possible the minimum fare from AK to AKL as opposed to getting a "second" ride.

I have a related (Uber/transportation question). On our last WDW day, we will be going to AK in the morning and then heading to US/RPR early afternoon. Staying at AKL. What is the best way to get from AK to AKL (to pick up luggage--I'm assuming there is nowhere to check/store it at the park) and then get from AKL to RPR? My first thought was Uber but I'm concerned about an Uber driver not knowing how to get from AK to AKL, and also would that be two Uber rides or one with a stop (is that possible)?
I’d take the Disney bus from AK to AKL & then call for your Uber to go AKL-RPR. This keeps it simple, people can take bathroom break if they need one at AKL, you have time to check your luggage and make sure Bell services didn’t screw up anything. (AKL bell services ripped a small part of the zipper on my laptop bag and the iPhone charger inside that pocket disappeared. I grabbed my stuff and went to my room and didn’t notice until it was too late & obviously they denied everything. Certainly wished I’d taken the time to check everything before I accepted it!)

Does anyone know if the Hyatt Chase card counts towards 5/24? I applied in July and just received the bonus points (for the second time!) for meeting the MSR in August.

Will definitely apply for the Rose Gold AmEx but need to get my timing right since I just completed the MSR on my CIP (received in September). I don't want to have my cards spaced too close together.

Also can I transfer the MR to my dh's account? He accumulates way more points than I do so I figure they'd be more valuable there than in an account under my name.

I know some people like Lowe's GCs in general, right? Newegg has eGC $100 for $90

I didn't know all of these details! Thanks!

Not that it's a big deal but Citi Travel doesn't always have the access to all rooms/room types. So if you happen to be picky about where you sleep :guilty: the 4th night free may or may not work out for you. The only place I stay for more than 2 or 3 nights is in Edinburgh and I have what one might say very specific rooms I prefer. Sadly, they were never available through citi travel so no free night for me. Just a psa from room diva here :)

So do you think there is any reason it wouldn't work on like a 2 bedroom villa? We always share condos on vacation with our best friends and what started as cheap, offsite rental houses is morphing into onsite 1-2 bedroom villas . I am just thinking a deal like the 30% off room only+ a fourth night free split stay of 4 nights at one resort 4 at another could be a pretty sweet gig. Or maybe Aulani :hyper:

Between DVC and churning I have gotten SPOILED! It wasn't that many years ago I was flying Frontier red eyes to save money and being oh so impressed with myself for scoring a rental house in Davenport and splitting it with family--ended up being like 50 bucks per couple per night.....and took like 25 minutes each way to drive back and forth to the parks!

Now I look at a $500 per night DVC villa and think 'Well, if we split it it's not so bad'.

I am not normally a complainer but I certainly would in that situation! That is terrible.

The hotel walked you. Any hotel chain can and does do that. With Marriott you might have been due some compensation depending on your status. Personally, heck yes I would raise hell with Hilton over that. You were repeatedly called a liar, given no alternatives & yet they took all the rest of the group YOU brought them.

Amex offers this week:

Spend $750 get $150 off at Salvatore Ferragamo - wasted on me
Spend $5 get $5 Hulu
Spend $100 get $20 Clyde's - last year I had spend $75 get $50 - three cards
Spend $150 get $30 Cole Hahn
plus more

And no new wine offers!

Plated, Hello Fresh, etc are now filling up my numbers. I've looked at all of these and can't make them appeal although the idea has appeal. Thought about trying to get a box delivered at Disney. But couldn't find one with food choices we would all enjoy.
got the hulu offer:cool1: but only one out of 10 cards..... so I started up a new hulu acct to combine with the 5.99 per month(1st month free) offer for the next few months....(4x 5.00 credit!) good deal!

I'm sure it's possible but hard to predict...whatever you can book is going to be based on whatever is in their inventory. I'd look for you but I just cancelled my account last week of course.

Oh, this is really good to know. I'm kind of picky, too, and I can imagine they wouldn't have what we wanted most of the time. And if you have to book from them, does that mean you end up paying rack rate for the other 3 nights? Or is there a way to stack a discount with the free 4th night?

Yes, or last year that was the case-online (terrible IT!!!!) or on the phone with Concierge (bounced me around a couple of times :sad2:). They use Connexions I believe. It was sort of an incredibly frustrating experience, tbh. Maybe it's just Citi's IT and me though!

Here's a good article from last year so if nothing changes with the program I'm guessing it's still pertinent.

Yikes. Thanks for erasing my FOMO.
:offtopic: Kind of. I saw a post by Gary Leff at VftW that UAE is going to require advance approval of prescription medications for anyone (tourists and residents) there. I've seen some chatter on this board about visiting UAE regarding (un)acceptable PDA and drinking; this is another requirement to be aware of. Tagging @calypso726 since you mentioned going to Al Maha; don't know if this would even apply to you but you're the only one I know of planning on heading over there.

Wow. It's not on our ever expanding, long, long list of places we hope to get to some day, but it's always good to have yet another reason. What a pain for those of us who need to travel with meds (I need them to breathe... :( ). I also tend to bring extra stuff "just in case" when we go far away. Thank you for sharing this info.

Yes, any personal card will count towards 5/24 with Chase. There are certain Chase cards that don't apply the 5/24 rule for approval, but your Hyatt card will certainly count toward the 5/24 accumulation.

Amex doesn't have a 5/24 rule, so that shouldn't matter for your Amex Gold application.

MRs cannot be pooled. If one is an AU, then MRs can be transferred to one's loyalty program (airlines, hotels) but the MRs themselves will not get pooled together. So if you open your own MR earning account and add your DH as an AU (not that I'm recommending this, it depends on what your goals are), then you could transfer your pool of MRs into one of his loyalty accounts, e.g. his Marriott account (or whichever loyalty accounts he has), and combine points inside that program.

Wow, that is terrible! I would complain more and escalate. I don't know that it will get you anywhere but I would at least try.

Wow, I was not aware of this! I am an AU on DH Biz Gold, so I could transfer all his MR's to my Delta account? I would really love to have them in one place!

I would absolutely fight that, that's so not OK!

That's based on what I've read on blogs (that link goes to a TPG article). I'm not an AU on any of DH's MR cards so I can't test it out myself. Have you tried logging in to see if you can do it? I don't know if you have to log in on yours or your DH's account to do the transfer. I'd love to hear what you find out!

Did you try pulling it up in the app to show them the proof of a current ressie when you were onsite?

I agree. It is such a short bus ride I'd just do this. That way you don't have to rush. IME bell services can be quite slow.
