I love credit cards so much!

I think there is a 100k offer if you go in branch and speech to a business relationship manager. But since you have a “business” idk if I would want to speak to a banker about it. Also, it may have expired. And u used to be able to buy 120k offers off reddit but it seemed like one guy figured out how to generate those and sold them.

this route is dead as well. friend tried it 2 weeks ago.

If I go the Swagbuck route, how easy is it to cash Swagbucks into Disney Gift cards? I haven't tried swagbucks yet.

Super easy and those of us in the SB thread can walk you through the options so we don't bring all that over here :) And there's always people going over the best way to do it as well.

depends on what kind of phone u have. you have a samsung phone with samsung pay enabled, it works almost everywhere. If its not, then yes, u are correct, only places that can scan the QR code. Chase Pay also allows u to pay using Chase Pay online as well... ie 5 guys.
Grr. That's unfortunately what I thought--I have an LG phone.

Thanks. That's why we are "rushing" a bit for this one. The AMEX card just arrived last night, so I'm hoping we have a bit of time.

Any advice on how to fill out the "business" application. Really no real business here at the moment.

Maybe @Lain or somebody else can give you a sense of how much time you have before that AMEX card will report... I honestly have never tracked that stuff.

usually 2 months, they report after the 2nd statement...

Is the CIP 80K points for a $5k spend the best offer out there? It's what I'm seeing, but I also know that sometimes there are better deals out there that are harder to find.

Also, I'm not seeing any referrals for this one. I guess there aren't any?

For reference, my latest Amex personal card was approved on 8/24, first statement closed on 9/19 -- today is 10/10 and the card still hasn't shown up on my credit reports. I expect Amex will report it within a day or two of my second statement closing date of 10/19.

I'm assuming you're having your husband apply for the CIP.

For Chase biz apps, when applying as a "business," it's very important to apply as a "sole proprietor," using your husband's legal name (first and last, middle initial is ok) as the "Business Name," and using his SSN as the Tax ID number. If you get fancy, Chase will want to see documentation reflecting a dba or legal entity. (That is, unless DH has a dba, EIN, or some formalized business entity.)

We talked about DH's business before. You told me he used to do tech consulting on the side. That’s a business. Find the appropriate category. If he's ever asked about it, he plans to get back into that line of work and, since he’s starting his business up again, could rely on his income (revenue) from the most recent year he did this work as “business revenue.” This is gross income from that side gig, do not deduct any expenses.

There absolutely are "support links" you can click through to apply for the CIP on DISchurners. The 80k UR points for $5k MSR in 3 months is the best offer out there. It's no longer possible to get a higher offer in-branch or by targeted mailers. The referral offers on DISchurners is the same as the 80k public offer, so there's no reason not to use a link from a fellow DISer who you feel has been a lot of help. It takes less than a minute to pick a link, but means a lot to whomever you decide to choose.

@mmmears - the in-branch 100k UR offer through a BRM expired in late August, and the 120k UR offer using a targeted mailer code expired, I believe in early September. The in-branch offer required you to go in-branch to apply through a business relationship manager, and the mailer codes were being sold and resold by some shady folks on reddit for ~$20-40.

Clearly I am on a GC hunt....and it would probably be better to be in the GC thread. But I'm here, you all are here. Why not? Anyone tried to link a "Happy" card to RMN? I am planning on trying later this evening so I can be a DP if nobody has done it before.

So we just decided spontaneously to go to Aulani for 3 nights in December with our BFF's. And if we go to Aulani then I definitely will need a massage at Laniwai. And If I get a massage I should probably pay in discounted Disney GC's. :rolleyes1 It's like "If you give a mouse a cookie".

Fact: I met my MSR in about 48 hours after being approved by renting DVC points for our stay. Thank you instant card number! Haha! Although now I am wondering if it will count--I paid the rented points via Venmo. But it's for a totally legit purchase? :scared: I dunno, I put a fair amount of organic spend on my Amex cards and will definitely be using my new Rose Gold card frequently.

Thank you. And I did find the links (it just took me a while so I'm glad I asked just in case I wasn't looking in the right place.) Of course I'll use a DISchurners link every time I can. :) I'm very appreciative of everyone's time and advice here.

depends on where ur flying to. short domestics, BA Avios on AA metal is the way to go.

Thanks! It would cost about 90k UR to transfer to UA and AA for the best deal on both. It costs 82k total to book through the portal (4 tickets).

Ok, so coming back to my Plastiq/PayPal renting DVC points dilemma. According to my calculations after subtracting the value of the points earned on the transaction the PayPal fees still eat up $200 of my $500 bonus point value after meeting MSR on Capital One. It also puts a good chunk onto my MSR on CSP. Would you consider this "worth it" or would I be better off paying cash and continuing to work on my MSR's with my regular spending? My goal is to transfer UR to SW to pay for most of our flights and to purchase the others with capital one and apply the points to that transaction. All in all I need 8 round trip flights. This is all such a learning curve for me, I'm not sure I am figuring things correctly.

Yes, SW offers free wifi to access some free tv and their flight tracker...not much else is free...but you need to be on the plane to access it. I don't think they turn it on until it's safe to get devices out...?? Maybe...
Bummer. Won’t be under 5/24 during our next SW flight.

OK, hivemind, I am asking for advice, understanding that things change (I'm looking at YOU Chase). Any insight would be appreciated. DH and I finally went through all the cards we could see out there that we might want to look into and these are the ones that really appealed to us. We are cautious by nature, and also need to cut back on some spending, so we won't be rushing into any of this.

Background is that we each have 2 dumb store cards that will be over 24 months in (1) March/April and (2) July of 2019.

Goal is to keep building our MR stash so we can fly comfortably overseas again, while also getting some Chase or hotel points so we don't spend a ton on hotels (which we did this last trip).

This is what looked good to us, but we can be flexible if there is a better way. P2's #3, #4, and #5 are iffy at best. And we have to take MSR into account.

P2 (currently at 4/5 until March or April 2019)

1) Chase Ink – apply for the CIP now and try to change it to a CIC in one year (after looking carefully this combo seems to max out the benefits for us with our spending habits).

2) AMEX SPG Lux – we have an offer that expires early Dec. for 125K bonus points.

3) Chase Hyatt – we would like the Hyatt points

4) AMEX – Hilton Aspire (or other Hilton) – again we would like the points.

5) AMEX Plat Business - if we could get the 100K but that 10K MSR is what's stopping us from trying so far

P1 (currently at 3/5 until March or April 2019)

1) AMEX gold – would like it for the grocery MRs, plus will pay for itself basically (would like to get this in 2018)

2) CSP – using a referral from P2 (assuming we can still combine the points).

thanks in advance! :goodvibes:

You received good advice so far. I have some food for thought depending on when and how you plan to use your UR points. It seems as though P2 has the CSP and you will be getting one via referral. If the plan is to use the combined UR points to purchase hotel stays and not transfer directly to an airline or hotel then you may want to run the numbers on this idea. Before redeeming the UR points at 1.25 with the CSP you may want to consider upgrading the CSP to a CSR. If you are going to purchase travel via the UR portal you would have the $300 credit. It is also possible that you might effectively save a lot more in UR points that far outweigh the difference in the fee since you'd be redeeming at 1.5. Let's say I have 7 nights in a hotel that is $200 per night, so $1400 for the week. I use my travel credit for $300 and then am going to use $1100 worth of UR points for the balance. With the CSR that would be 73,333 UR. If I only had a CSP it would be 112,000 UR for the full amount.

I still haven't used all of my 10% credit at lowes and staples, but I don't know how to maximize that. Any tips?

I purchased Disney gift cards at both. You could also purchase Amazon gift cards.

For me I’d consider it worth it...if I’m reading correctly your coming out $300 ahead plus meeting MSR...accumulating URs towards RR for your trip

P2 has the CSR and the CSP, so if we can combine the points I figured I'd take the card with the lower AF. Or that is the plan, anyway. I worry that we won't be able to combine points. It feels like every time we get something all the rules change (Chase ≠ Disney).

ETA - so far we have only used the Chase points to top off hotel points that we already had so we had enough to stay where we wanted to (both Hyatt and Marriott) for our upcoming trip. Also long term, I think we'd like to use the URs for hotel stays overseas (I'm a sucker for really nice hotels). No actual plan in place yet for the next "big" trip.

I think the difficulty some of us are having in giving effective advice is that you’ve signed up for cards we wouldn’t typically recommend for your desired goals. Please don’t take that the wrong way - I know you acknowledged that you may have made some missteps as a newbie (and that’s ok).

From what I recall, you are looking for flights for February. Given that fact, I would eat the PayPal fee and hit your MSRs as soon as possible. The sooner you earn your bonuses, the sooner you can lock up that ticket price with SW (and as time goes along it could go up). I’d probably focus on hitting the CSP first (that’s just my gut instinct).

Don’t sweat a mistake early on here either. Once you’re past these initial bonuses we can help advise on cards To get in the future to make this easier.

Can you meet the spends without this purchase? I think only you can make that decision. I have had times I have had to pay some hefty fees to get the MSR met. Obviously if you have any other way to meet the MSR, I’d wait.
