I love credit cards so much!

Regarding your hotel comparison...I assume the URs is through CSR so you're getting 1.5cpp. Booking hotels with MRs is typically estimated at ~0.7cpp but can vary I believe so your numbers above don't surprise me.

In my analysis of MRs I've found that there are only 3 good uses that deliver 1cpp:
  • Transferring to airline partners for flights - I honestly don't know much about this. I exclusively fly SW and have no need to truly research this option. All I know is there's always people on r/churning bragging about some crazy cpp they got transferring MRs to some foreign airline partner, LOL :rotfl:
  • Cashing Out with an AMEX Schwab Platinum - this is a guaranteed 1.25cpp and is very easy if you have the Schwab Plat card.
  • Gift Cards at 1cpp - not all gift cards cash out at this value. IMO the most general useful option at 1cpp is Home Depot. You can buy a lot of stuff at Home Depot, LOL! Target and Walmart are options but only at 0.7cpp (blech!)
  • I don't really think transferring to hotels are a good idea. All 3 transfer at 1:1 and even using TPGs typically inflated valuations: Hilton, Choice & Marriott all fall short of 1cpp.
It sounds like you have some international travel coming up so you may be able to take advantage of option 1 - which would be great! Good Luck in finding a good use...the Schwab Plat option is not bad either. I know A LOT of expert churners who have cashed out hundreds of thousands of MRs at that 1.25 option. :)

Yes hotels with URs were booked through my CSR 1.5 redemption...Like you we fly SW exclusively with the CP....

The 2020 trip to Europe will be a one and done for us.....was looking at the different MR earning business cards...but since I’m not even sure if we will be able to use the MRs...don’t want to pay any annual fees to earn them....really going back and forth between just putting all spend on Chase for the URs even if it’s not towards a MSR or opening some Business no fee MR earning accounts....first world problems :flower:

There's a grubhub promo code grubhubapp15 for $15 off $20 on your first order. I don't know when it expires and don't have my new Amex gold number yet (tried to get it over the phone but will have to wait until tomorrow) but thought this might work for those of us with a $10/month dining credit from Amex (at least until we know whether or not gift cards will work--I'd prefer buying $10 cheesecake factory gift cards).

I saw that but when I looked at the few places they deliver here there's nothing I would pay to eat even with the credit. Ubereats at least has more options but some of them are for places that already deliver which I don't understand.

Just noticed this gc deal in my ShopRite circular:

"Save $10 on your next shopping order when you purchase $50 in select gift cards with your price plus club card 10/7-10/13....Limit one per customer. Offer valid on Uber, GameStop, and Domino's gift cards."

It was a good few weeks for us. I think mine took less time than DH's, even though he applied first. It is a fairly lengthy process.
Does it take longer than TSA precheck? Are they checking for the same things? Same questions?

I applied 9/28,still waiting to hear about interview. DH and DS applied about 2 weeks before I did and heard back within a week. :confused3

I don’t know that it is so much entirely conflicting advice as everyone has different priorities. I personally don’t like to get a card just for the bonus and then plan on cancelling later. (Although I did make the exception with the CIP as the bonus really is the best way to get UR’s right now all at once). It sounds like you know MR’s and have a use for them, so that might be worthwhile to use Amex as a first business card. For Amex you just put the business name and income. On the Chase business card applications they make you go through and list what type of business and it is crazy specific and a little stressful. They also might call and ask questions about the business. That is why I say that especially if your P2 is a little hesitant an Amex card would be a good way to ease into it. Which one to get would maybe depend which MR earning card you have now and how much you are willing to spend for a MSR. There are a ton of options.

Exactly. I guess I didn't say it clearly, but we all have different priorities and find different ways to get there. I'm trying to optimize our points collection, but it's been impossible since we don't really have any concrete plans for future travel, just a desire to see more of the world. Thanks for the info on the business applications. That helps. :)

I need to figure out how to start selling some stuff on ebay. Any recommendations on where to start? Tutorial?

Me too. I have a few Disney Dooney & Bourke purses that I don't use anymore and thought it might be a good idea to sell those before buying any more :rolleyes1

On another note that is off topic: The Stranger Things House at HHN was outstanding!

I would guess they do the same but that GE does more since it's not just considering if it's ok for your to go through security without extra screening but if it's also ok for you to enter back into the country without additional screening.

I did nexus which takes even longer since your vetted by both the US and Canada. I have disboard friends that applied early last month or the end of Aug and are Canadian citizens living in the US and they are still waiting to get the ok to schedule their interview for nexus, so it could be worse. But that's a normal timeline for nexus.

heh, i think GE is like 2 weeks --a month
TSA pre should be within 2 weeks + no interview...
Nexus? i heard is at 4 months +.

Death of Chase Double Dip DP Summary

I know that not everybody here reads or follows r/churning regularly. They have a Double Dip Demise DP thread where people can report their double dip issues. There is nothing new on this front but I figured I'd share some recent (and random) DPs here so we all are aware that double dips appear FULLY dead in all situations:
  • applied 10/1; > 5/24; IHG & Iberia; Iberia was closed
  • applied 8/15; 1/24; CSP & CF; CF was closed
  • applied 9/22; 0/24; CF & CFU; CFU was closed
  • applied 9/13; 4/24; CSR & CSP; CSP was closed
  • applied 9/8; 2/24; CSR & CSP; CSP was closed
  • applied 9/17; 4/24; Hyatt & IHG; IHG was closed
  • There are numerous other DPs on there but I figured the 6 above were enough to convince us all that this is dead
What does this mean: There really is almost NO good reason to attempt a double dip now. It seems that regardless of 5/24 status and which cards you apply for...it won't work. We don't have any DPs of a Biz/Personal double dip...perhaps that still works. The ONLY reason I'd even attempt a double dip now is if you were at 4/24 and NOT going back under 5/24 for a long time (or ever).

I think I'm overthinking this like I tend to do but it's tricky trying to time this for the end of the year so we get the most out of the CP. So....the RR's we earn in December from spending the $4000 ms on these two cards are safe, nothing is going to "happen" to them. But, if we can't make that additional $6k in spending by December we should just wait to make that spend in January? I guess I'm looking for confirmation that the 100k sign up points earned in 2018 can be combined with the rest needed by spending anytime within a year and that's when we earn the CP. So if we don't spend that extra 6k until say March 2019 that's when we earn the CP? Sorry, just want to make sure I got this right.
Thanks to everyone who helped me with this. Im going to have DH apply for the first card in Nov and the second around 30 days after. That will give us a cushion of not accidently meeting ms in Dec on that first card.

Last night I decided to try for the US Bank Cash+. Applied, EQ pulled, went pending. Figured I might as well apply for something else to maybe combine the HPs. I checked the preapproval page and the Cash 365 came up so I applied for that too, also pending.

Woke up this morning to a HP on TU. Go figure. So much for combining pulls - I should have quad-dipped instead I guess!

I must have finally satisfied the Gyft gods since all of my recent purchases have gone through without any problem. Just bought a $200 GC for DH for B&N and instantly came through. Thank you Gyft gods!

My CIC application went from 2 weeks to 7-10 days. I may just go over 5/24 today. Ughhhh

My last chase card was in December so wth Chase....

We have a decent local burger place so I'm trying that. After the coupon and $10 credit from Amex it was $4 for the three of us. I also noticed I can use it to pick up chick fil a. We rarely eat out/order out so it will be a nice once a month treat.
