I love credit cards so much!

Finally got DH to listen to me about the business cards, so now I have a newbie question on them. Which one gives the most bang for our buck - it's not likely that he will want 2. CIP? Something else from Chase? Amex? Too many choices and now I'm a bit confused.

While your DH is still under 5/24, he should focus on Chase. But didn’t he recently get the Amex Gold Card? That’ll take him up to 5/24 in about two months. You need to decide soon what card you want to get from Chase while he’s still under 5/24 in Chase’s eyes. He can probably fit in one Chase card within the next two months; two if he’s feeling ballsy. I’m not sure when DH’s next card ages past 24 months. If it’s relatively soon, say later this year or early next, just treat that time out as if you would naturally space out apps.

I previously posted a reply to you on a similar question: One basic way to look at which card to get (first — because if you plan it right, you can eventually get them all), is do you value the initial signup bonus or the ongoing earning ability of the card?

Get the CIP for the big bonus, then sign up the CIC in a few months or a year if possible.

You got lots of good advice around then. Once you’ve narrowed down what might work for you, we can help you work through the details.

What?! Just spent $150 at Costco which is a lot for me.
i was reading on flyertalk that some ppl aren’t getting the 5x coding they should for costco. just keep a look out for the transaction and call if it didn’t.

edit: ymmv. someone here posted it coded 5x for them oct 2nd? or 4th

I get 4% cash back at Costco between my executive card and my Citi card.

So, I don't want to use the Freedom there.

I'd prefer to do the $1500 spend using Chase Pay or at a department store that sells gift cards or other stuff I might want.

So, any idea which department stores will credit?

And can I do Chase Pay at Walgreen's if I just want to do $500 on a Disney card? Will that work?

(It's my first year with a Chase Freedom. I paid no attention until I got one!)

I quit balancing the checkbook when my youngest was born and she is 16! I used to balance it to the penny every month. When Disney started the double points on gas and groceries in the early 2000s, I used to post each transaction in the check register (even though I put it on cc) and then adjust when I paid the cc bill. Once our youngest was born, I didn't have time to do that so I just tried to stay under a certain amount on the cc each month.
I still keep track in a register but I don’t “balance” it, more like just keeping a running total. And for new PNC account, online only, so I made a spreadsheet to keep track. Lol. I can’t let go otherwise I’d have too much trouble balancing a paycheck every week, mortgage, 15 or so credit cards, utilities, etc.

Have a great run! I did laugh...when I was running half/fulls I was up waaaay before the sun since it's hot hot hot here until Nov-Feb. Adding to the excitement was watching out for snakes in the dark :scared1:

I have to drive to a trail to run so I always wait for the sun, plus it was finally 50 when I finished almost 3 hours from the start. I hate running in the cold. Last 2 weeks in the 60's were great but that's done now. There were a ton of slugs out, some smooshed, most not, most normal to huge size. Between those and the falling leaves you have to be careful in the fall :)

This may be totally out there, but since I see of people going to Epcot, thought why not try LOL. Anyone going that is an AP holder? I am dying for the AP holder Goofy Food and Wine Raglan style tee, but they didn't release it until after we had left food and wine. Let me know if this is too out of line to post here

I'll be there next month and can get it if someone doesn't beforehand. Let me know :)

I've been seeing some recent DPs on Reddit that BoA is refusing to waive the AF even if you call to cancel right when it posts. If you're not planning to keep it, I'd probably cancel before it posts.

Wait, what? So I should cancel my card now because I'm pretty sure the af will hit on the next statement which is when I had planned on canceling. I hate that bank, dang them for having Alaska's cards.

I have an offer on Sears MC for 10x TY points at gas stations, restaurants, and grocery. Going to do gas stations for sure but deciding 3x UR vs 10x TY points at restaurants. I’ve only used TY points for Target GCs which were used for Disney GCs. Thoughts?

I would, yes. I'm not saying that's definitely BoA's new policy because I don't know for sure. But I have seen more than one DP, so that's enough for me to take notice.

Wow, good to know! Thanks!

Thanks again, for both your advice and your patience. I have my P2 here with me, reading it all. It's been hard to get P2 ready to deal with it all, and I don't have a P2 who just does whatever I tell him to do so having it all written out really helps. It sounds like (not today, but soonish before the AMEX get reported) he'll look into a CIP or a CIC. I'm guessing we will go for the larger bonus than the extra points earning since now with all these cards it's getting a bit complicated. And then it will be a few months for a card to drop off, which is fine really. We don't want to move too quickly here.

Oh, and he said that thanks to your input on the Apple wallet if I keep adding cards he will "need" to get a new iPhone (which, I added, will then help with the MSR of some new card). We decided not to upgrade at this point and now this!:rotfl:

OK, I'll work myself up to calling them this week. Going to have to be in the mood to deal with the annoyance I'm sure to have because I don't see it being an easy I just want to cancel call, but fingers crossed it is.

Ok, what is taking my SW Plus anniversary points so long to post! My statement posted on 10/3 and I can see the points on the statement but they are not in my RR account yet! My Points from my Premier were there the next day in my RR account. I need to them to post so I can close that account before the AF due. DH was having a hissy about it last night and I assured him I knew what I was doing timing getting the points, closing the account and not paying the fee. Ugh!

You need a Samsung phone to use the freedom as Chase Pay to earn 5x

I have the Samsung S8 and I have Samsung Pay and Chase Pay on the phone. I just need to know that it works for the 5X at Walgreens. I guess I can do a test purchase.

You can Google Chase Freedom department stores, and a list will pop up of all department stores that will trigger the 5x. I know for sure that Nordstrom and Kohl’s do, having already made purchases there with my CF this quarter and seeing the 5x in my online Chase account. BTW, I know the offer ends today but in case there is another one...I never shop at Kohl’s but I happened to be at the mall and saw a Kohl’s and knew there was an RMN offer for $5 off $40. Since this is more than 10% off, once I confirmed that Kohl’s counts as a department store for CF (by Googling as mentioned above), I bought a 4-pack of $10 Starbucks gift cards for exactly $40. I didn’t add any filler since I don’t usually shop at Kohl’s. The $5 hit my RMN wallet this morning and has been transferred to PayPal. The reason I was at the mall was to return my duplicate Macy’s order. Both of my $15 Macy’s RMN rewards also hit my wallet this morning and have also been transferred to PayPal. I’m really curious about what will happen with the reward attached to the return in terms of if and how RMN will claw that back. Guess I’ll find out in due course.

Yep...your correct....the good news is they are super easy to rent out if for some reason you do have to cancel and can’t use them

I know. That's what prompted my original question. The booked vacation is not for me. A friend is renting from me. The likelyhood of a cancellation is slim but just want to know where I stand in case.

if u have the means to complete the MSR without the Hawaii DCL, then i would rather put it on the CSR assuming it earns 3x. if you do not have the means, then Amex Plat would make more sense.
so yeah, put it on the CSR, keep working the plat on 1x category.

Unless u do plan on another card anytime soon. then finishing your MSR as quickly as possible would be the better idea.
Thanks for the reply. I had to pay by midnight last night so I was forced to make my own decision. :scared:
I put it on the amex plat. I do have another card on the way for MSR, so that is why. Plus I was thinking if I can hit the amex msr quickly I can use the points to buy those delta tix I am eyeing. :)
