I love credit cards so much!

Interesting. I recall DoC posting about this sometime back but few people were targeted to be able to offer referrals and I think the offers were on the low side for Chase Bank offers. I didn't receive anything so I can't check, what are the offers this time?

$50 up to 10.

friend gets $350 for checking and savings acc. not that great since it's $600 for checking savings account

I’d kind of like to know this for the LAX lounge since we will be going there before Japan.

ANA will most likely use the Star Alliance lounge. it's a nice lounge with decent food. unfortunately if u look the floor below from the balcony, u see fooseball tables to play in a different lounge. :(.

great lounge to plane spot too, they have an outdoor area! been there twice, let me know if u have more questions.

Any Nashville recommendations for someone who hasn't been there since she was 16? :) DH has never been.

I figured we'd do the Country Music Hall of Fame and Ryman Auditorium for sure. The concert we're seeing is at 8pm on Saturday. I know nothing about food, the only place I remember going with my family was Loveless Cafe.

Fly in Friday at 11:30pm currently (might try to move that to landing at 6:30pm as it gets closer, it'll depend on DHs work) and fly out Sunday at 7pm.

We just came back from a 3-day weekend over Labor Day. We had 2 toddlers with us, so we couldn't do much in terms of night life. But we waled around downtown and the kids enjoyed running around the Parthenon/park area. We also highly recommend The Wild Cow (a vegan restaurant). DH thought he was getting steak, but was pleasantly surprised. He said if all vegan food tastes this good, he'll have no problems giving up meat! If the menu doesn't sound appealing to you, there's an ice cream shop right next door. :)

What card should I get next....and other ramblings.

So I never actually attempted to purchase any sort of Disney tickets through Chase before and I know you can't now--but what about those CityPass type attraction tickets? It would be so amazing to not have to pay almost $1500 in tickets when I have the UR's to cover it. I didn't see them online but didn't know if there is more options when you call in. Being the millennial that I am I absolutely do not want to talk to real humans on the phone if I can avoid it :rotfl:

Also, I am trying to come up with a plan for upcoming travel spend and I have sort of been at a loss for how to go about it. I don't necessarily need more flight miles so something to erase part of these purchases seems best. In the next few weeks we need to purchase 4 SoCal city passes ($1379), book two nights at Aulani on rented points because I am perpetually out of my own :charac2:($2200), and purchase 2 10 day PH+ tickets which we will bridge and upgrade to DVC Gold in January (about $1100). We also have annual dues of about $1400 in January also.

It just seems like it is a waste to not put this upcoming chunk towards a MSR, ya know? I just can't decided if I am ready to blow 5/24 yet though... I am currently 4/24 and have FOMO shutting the door on Chase. Maybe the PRG would be a good choice ? I am saving DH's sweet sweet 3/24 status for a SW biz/personal combo towards the end of the year. I was also toying with the idea of an App-o-rama come summertime for my DVC add on.

My current cards: Discover IT (2015), Arrival (2014), Freedom (2015), CSR (12/17), BCE (2015), Ameriprise Plat (8/18)
My biz cards: Barclay Aviator (7/18), Marriott (7/18), CIP (5/18), Amex SPG (3/18)

TL:DR-- at 4/24, need to spend 5-6k. What card(s)?

You definitely have to check out Broadway & 2nd. I actually like to go around 4/5 in the evening before it gets too wild. Acme has a great rooftop bar. Stoney River is my favorite steakhouse - and we've tried plenty, even the more expensive ones. We always come back to Stoney River. The Southern is also pretty good as well as Bakersfield. For a quick lunch, Edley's BBQ is great. If you have time, visit the Parthenon and check out the park around there, it's beautiful!

I'm trying to set up Chase Pay on my iPhone. After I enter the code, it says either my username or password is incorrect----after I had used both to sign in correctly in order to get them to send the code to my landline :badpc:

I tried 3 times on Friday with no luck. Assuming there was some kind of a glitch, I stopped trying until just now.

Any ideas?

Just got an offer on my Capitol One Quicksilver card. This card has been sock-drawered, but I have decided to bring it out to make a few small purchases over the next 3 months.

Get a $10 bonus per month for tapping to pay 3 times each month through December 31, 2018. Earn up to $30.

Fine print:

This limited time rewards offer runs from October 1, 2018, 12:00 a.m. ET, to December 31, 2018, 11:59 p.m. ET (Promotion Period), and is valid only for those account holders that received this promotional email. This offer is non-transferable to any other person or Capital One card account. If you upgrade or change your account to another credit card product, or if your account becomes delinquent, closed, restricted, over the credit line, or otherwise not in good standing, you will not be eligible for this offer. Qualifying cardholders are eligible to earn one (1), one-time $10 statement credit upon completing three (3) Qualifying Purchases each calendar month during the Promotion Period, for a total of up to $30. For this promotion, Qualifying Purchases are defined as contactless purchase transactions made using your eligible Capital One contactless Visa card at a contactless-enabled checkout terminal. To qualify, the transactions must: (i) be completed as a contactless transaction using the contactless Capital One Visa card; (ii) be identified as Qualifying Purchases as determined by Visa; (iii) post to the Capital One Visa card account referenced during the Promotion period; and (iv) be an amount of at least $1.01 or more. A Qualifying Purchase will be based on the date of the transaction and does not include pre-authorization transactions. Your Capital One Visa card account must remain in good standing in order to receive the statement credit. Returns for credit and purchases made through digital wallets, such as Apple Pay and Android Pay, are not Qualifying Purchases. Qualifying Purchases made by authorized users on your account will count toward this offer, but only one statement credit each calendar month during the Promotional Period will be applied to your account. The card used to make the third qualifying transaction will receive the statement credit. Most credits will post within 5–7 business days after making the third qualifying purchase, but please allow up to 90 days to receive your credit.

Can you only go in the lounge that matches your airline? I’ve never done this before obviously lol

Maybe being in England helped after all ... I was (finally) able to pull the 50,000 PRG offer! I'm so excited, and already have my card loaded on my phone for use tomorrow. I wish I'd had it a few days ago for all the stuff I've been buying DD19 to get her University apartment settled. That $2,000 would be half gone, LOL. I took screenshots of the 50,000 just in case :) Yay!!!

Edited to add: Used Chrome incognito and pulled it up the fourth time.

I was where you are for a long time. Major chicken churner when it came to Biz cards. I believe I started several apps and changed my mind and didn't finish. Finally, earlier this year I had major FOMO on the high offer of the SPG biz. It was so easy that made it easier to try for CIP several months later. I dont know that I will ever do as many cards as most do here, but it is a start. And I hate to say it aloud, but I am still in the "thought of a business" stage. I do have lots of stuff I could sell on ebay/fb yard sale so that was my initial "business", I just have not gotten around to actually listing anything. My DH was firmly in the no biz cards until I got my 2nd one. Then he said do whatever you want. lol He now also has SPG biz and doesn't know it yet, but will get a Southwest biz in a few months.

Thanks for this. It makes me feel better. I think I’m almost there. Baby steps......

Since you're flying business on ANA, you can go to their lounge. Priority Pass is not dependent on who you're flying with. It includes the lounges that they have agreements with as well as restaurants at some airports (~$28 credit/person). There are 2 restaurants in their network at LAX.

I noticed a lot of Amex offers expired yesterday. Was hoping for some exciting new offers today but I don't see any. Is there any rhyme or reason when new offers get added?

AmEx offer for MR cards on Gas:
Get 500 additional Membership Rewards points by using your enrolled Card to make a single purchase of $35+ at US Gas Stations by 12/31/2018.
Can do 3x for a total of 1500 MR points.

Fine print - "The following are NOT considered gas stations: superstores, supermarkets, and warehouse clubs that sell gasoline. For more details please refer to https://www.americanexpress.com/us/content/rewards-info.html. "

So you think if I went to Speedway and bought a $35 gas card in the store I'd be good?

I had this offer on my Amex Plat (personal) this morning, and it was also on the AU cards for both DD and DS. It's been a while since I've gotten a worthy Amex offer...

I don't think we've covered it too recently but fyi for those looking to meet MSRs remember donations. Many organizations accept credit cards these days (some even say "hey this incurs X fee to process, would you like to cover that as well?") so consider moving up a later in the year donation if you're trying to hit an MSR.

(This came to mind when I saw AA running 20x miles per dollar donated to breast cancer research via the Komen foundation promo for the month of Oct https://www.aa.com/i18n/customer-service/about-us/let-good-take-flight/be-pink.jsp )

ETA: some organizations even accept amex ;)

Good point. I've contributed to a few GoFundMe campaigns lately, and some of that definitely helped meet the MSR on my Biz Plat. Totally understand the point about these not being money makers in the sense of return, but if they are donations you are going to make anyway, it is a really good way to put some spend toward MSR. One was a fairly sizable donation for a very close college friend who was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer at age 50 (which is just so sad and scary, although his treatment is going well), and then a couple of birthday donations, one for my sister and one for a work colleague and friend, both to very worthy causes. And I was able to put a little MSR on my Hilton Aspire last night when DD asked if we could make a donation to a sea turtles cause in lieu of a birthday present for her. So proud of her for that request!

Wondering about links over on Reddit. Went to update and Chase is telling me that several cards don't have a current promotion, including Sapphire Reserve, Freedom and Freedom Unlimited. Is this correct?

Does your login have both business and personal accounts on it? If its still working the way it used to (and thats a big if - it was a long time ago when I was dealing with this), you need to separate them and use the login tied to your personal accounts for Chase Pay. Not sure if thats the same issue you're having though. You may have to call . . .

Have been lurking here for a few weeks after I got the CSR. Started looking at it because a friend was posting on FB about all the free food he got at SFO with Priority Pass. Now I feel I'm a bit down the rabbit hole. Got the CIP too and will probably eventually get a few more (DH is willing P2). Hit the MSR for CSR and waiting for my statement to close (the bonus already show as pending). Transferred over DH's UR points from his old downgraded CP account. They've been in there for years waiting for the opportunity to redeem at better than 1:1 (and I kinda, sorta forgot about them...lol). Will be getting one-way tickets to Iceland x4 on Icelandair, with points left over. Yay!

Anyhoo - I was hoping people can share the logistics of using Priority Pass, if the restaurant or lounge is at different terminals, going through security again, etc. I want to eat my annual fee back! At SFO, my flights will be from the International Terminal, but the Priority Pass restaurants are at Terminal 3. Is that going to be a big pain?

Here are our flights if anyone has any feedback about the other airports we'll pass through. TIA!

SFO-KEF Icelandair
KEF-EDI Easyjet
ABZ-LHR-SFO British Airways

KEF doesn't have a PP lounge. The airport is small and crazy busy, probably because it is small. I didn't have a ton of connection time so I wouldn't have gone to the lounge anyway unless it had bee in just the right spot.

If you have enough time and don't mind going through security twice, terminal 3 won't be bad. @Lain will answer better, but I think there's a train you can use to get between the two.

My CF referral doesn't work and I can't create a new one.

Has anybody ever gotten more hotel availability by calling Chase than they can see on the UR travel portal? I'm looking for hotels in Besalu, Spain, near Barcelona. The UR travel portal doesn't have any Besalu hotels listed, but I have seen them on other websites. I also mapped the hotels that came up in a search for Girona, another nearby city, and only one of them was near Besalu. If DH calls (since it's his card), is it possible there will be hotels the agents can see that I can't see on the portal? I just don't want to ask him to call if there's no chance of success. Thanks!

No, just personal--thanks!
