I love credit cards so much!

I am thinking that would likely come to fruition with the release of a premium card, since it has been a trend we are seeing a lot within Chase.

They would probably allow for upgrade at least. If they changed the bonus rules to 2 years with a dis card you wouldn't lose out on the bonus since it probably wouldn't be much better than the 200. I can't imagine them doing 500 since that's more than twice a deposit.

Isn’t there a part on the SM where you can make comments? Maybe if we all did that and expressed the frustration about Disney it could make a difference?!? But yeah I am probably just dreaming too...and backsliding from acceptance back into denial.
I went straight to Twitter- for whatever that’s worth but it was more convenient than a SM for me. A couple days later they even responded with “we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. We’ll be sure your feedback is heard.” All I could think was “inconvenience” is not the right word here...

Are you near a Best Buy? Swagbucks is offering 750 bonus points for $100 purchases plus 2 points per dollar so 950 points for a $100 card. Plus if you use Chase pay 5x this month for purchases greater than $25 you get 1500 bonus points.

The Freedom also is 5x points on chase pay this quater.

I haven’t tried this yet, but I plan to get some giftcards in the next few days.

My husband has a Freedom, so this should work out well. Do I order these online or have to go in store? If you could PM me with the process, I would super appreciate it!

I don't think we've covered it too recently but fyi for those looking to meet MSRs remember donations. Many organizations accept credit cards these days (some even say "hey this incurs X fee to process, would you like to cover that as well?") so consider moving up a later in the year donation if you're trying to hit an MSR.

(This came to mind when I saw AA running 20x miles per dollar donated to breast cancer research via the Komen foundation promo for the month of Oct https://www.aa.com/i18n/customer-service/about-us/let-good-take-flight/be-pink.jsp )

ETA: some organizations even accept amex ;)

Anyone gone for the Barclays Jetblue biz card with the 50k offer? I think I'm going to apply for it. I have a $500 bill I could put on it so that would knock out half the MSR. Barclays gave me a really low limit ($1000) on my Aviator Biz though, so I'm not sure they'll approve me. I could really use that card though, so I'm going to go for it.

Yeah - I can respect that. Everybody has to make their own assumptions in this game and given the recent pattern this raises a fair concern. However, they also have recently had a pattern of offering upgrade offers when they came out with these new cards (Marriott & Southwest) so that mitigates the concern a bit. Good luck with whatever you do there!

Every so often somebody comes on to r/churning asking if this is a good way to meet an MSR. Thanks for pointing out that it is an option :)

I'll also share the obligatory reminder...there is likely no way that your return on the MSR & potential tax savings will actually make you money doing this. If this is not a donation you wanted to make out of the goodness of your heart, there is likely no way to "win" this game. I'm not saying "don't donate"...just Don't Donate if you were doing it thinking you were getting something of greater benefit monetarily out of it.

Put some spend on that biz card if you haven't prior to your app! I was denied my AA Biz because I didn't have any spend on my other Barclays card since I opened it (which was like 7 months prior to the biz app). Reminds me, I gotta put some spend on my AA card and re-apply for that Biz card! The phrase the credit analyst used was he'd "like to see if I use the credit responsibly that I have on my current Barclays card"

hahaha, omg yes! This is only a good MSR helper if you were already going to make the donation!

Wait...am I now about to be shunned?

Haha - I remember one time there was somebody on reddit thinking it was a good idea to open a card and hit the whole MSR by doing a donation. They were convinced it was a new method of MS. We were all like, No...do you understand what Manufactured Spending is? Getting $1,000 back for making a $5,000 donation is still spending $4,000!!! It was a frustrating exchange to say the least.

How long is the hike and are you going to want to drop your luggage off before doing it? It seems after hiking I'd be more interested in getting back to a room and showering than traveling a distance. Plus it's the cheapest. I'd also rather be outside the room than inside looking at a view.

I don't know but I would go into the app and see what questions it's asking because that might help you figure out what he did. If he's going back to school soon have him do the student card, that may be the way to get it done with such a low income.

I think the others that have had kids apply did student but I can't remember correctly. Do they ask for proof of enrollment?
The hike will take like 3.5 hours in the morning. We decided we will be doing the cheaper resort with the golf course. I think we might send our luggage to Kyoto and have small bags with us for the one night in hakone.

I've put a couple charges on, but not much :scared: That's my other concern. Hard to justify putting any spend on this when I'm working on the SPG Biz MSR. I've had at least one charge on each statement, but obviously that's not much.

Have been lurking here for a few weeks after I got the CSR. Started looking at it because a friend was posting on FB about all the free food he got at SFO with Priority Pass. Now I feel I'm a bit down the rabbit hole. Got the CIP too and will probably eventually get a few more (DH is willing P2). Hit the MSR for CSR and waiting for my statement to close (the bonus already show as pending). Transferred over DH's UR points from his old downgraded CP account. They've been in there for years waiting for the opportunity to redeem at better than 1:1 (and I kinda, sorta forgot about them...lol). Will be getting one-way tickets to Iceland x4 on Icelandair, with points left over. Yay!

Anyhoo - I was hoping people can share the logistics of using Priority Pass, if the restaurant or lounge is at different terminals, going through security again, etc. I want to eat my annual fee back! At SFO, my flights will be from the International Terminal, but the Priority Pass restaurants are at Terminal 3. Is that going to be a big pain?

Here are our flights if anyone has any feedback about the other airports we'll pass through. TIA!

SFO-KEF Icelandair
KEF-EDI Easyjet
ABZ-LHR-SFO British Airways

The Churners struggle:
"Wait you mean I need to put spend on these cards after the MSR...like regular spend...like non-bonus spend...you mean like a regular person??"
