I love credit cards so much!

awesome.... I'm wondering, I saw on DoC that I can fund the first $100 with a cc, hoping to use my FU and it won't call it a cash advance....(?) but I can't lower the CA on that card lower than $100 so maybe not worth taking a chance on it. Anyway if I did cc fund that $100 would that count towards the DD,or would I still need the $500 for that?
DoC has data points on what card has coded what. you should check the list!

Isn’t it for every 60k Starriott points transferred, you get an extra 5k airline miles?
yup. its still there!

My $25 from my Fidelity account transferred into my new Chase account on Monday, but I'm still waiting on the bonus... Hope it shows up soon!
Might have been too close to post yesterday. If the bonus doesn't post next Tuesday might have to try something else, but I'm guessing it was a timing thing and sometime before then you'll see it.

Isn’t it for every 60k Starriott points transferred, you get an extra 5k airline miles?

ETA: so yeah, like @platamama posted, for almost all the Starriott airline transfer partners, it’s 60k Starriott = 20k miles + 5k bonus miles.

Correct, it's all down to the maths. They list it as giving you an extra 15k Stariott points on your transfer so it's like redeeming 75k to get the 25k on most airlines, but it's not a straight extra 5k airline miles bonus.

Unless my eyes deceive me there's only 3 partners not using the 3:1 rates, JetBlue, United, and Air New Zealand. JetBlue is 6:1 so the math is a little cleaner, you should wind up with 12.5 when transferring the 60k for them. Air New Zealand must have a very interesting program to be 200:1. o_O

Oh no... all this talk about burgers had me thinking Steak ‘n Shake for dinner. I just found out the two freestanding restaurants in the Bay Area, in Daly City and Campbell, have shuttered permenantly. The Daly City location was never too busy after the initial opening, and I guess I haven’t been all year, so I’m partly to blame. So sad... :sad1:

Oh yeah something else. A coworker used my referral link for the United card yesterday. She was mad and came to me and said "I got a message saying I will know in 30 days." I couldn't believe she didn't get an auto approval. She has one (yes one) credit card, which is a Freedom. 800+ score and two mortgages. She's in her late 50s and has a very long, clean credit file.

I felt bad and told her to wait it out. Chase is insane, I swear.

Thats how I felt referring my BF! I have been praising the churning game and trying to get her in on it for ages. She has yet to get an auto approval on any of the "easy" cards I told her to go for. In fact she has had to make about a zillion trips in to the local Chase branch to get it approved! It finally went through by the way. I keep telling her it will be worth it when we are laying on the beach in Hawaii.

Also--fun surprise! I booked our Anaheim AirBnB about a week back for our upcoming Disneyland stay. I put it on my Marriott Biz to meet MSR but before I booked I thought, why not go through Fred Meyer and buy $1500 in AirBnB gift cards for 4x fuel points? I did it all from the comfort of my couch , maybe adding only 15 minutes worth of hassle, and they came through immediately. Well my statement just closed and I found a surprise 6,680 in points for "shipping". I was so confused! Unfortunately Marriott points are not easily traceable like UR's are but after much backwards math I figured out that Venmo and my AirBnB gc triggered the 4x Marriott points too.

Now to figure out if my Marriott points are going to get into my account today or not. This was the day last month they posted, should be getting almost 90k, ans so far nothing. I had merged my SPG+Marriott and gotten a new number so I hope that flows over to my Chase card and my points won't be lost in limbo somewhere. I am not hopeful that they will show up later today if they aren't there already.

yeah, its pre merger. u have to multiple the amount by 3 if its SPG.

That's what I feared lol

The award number listed is what airline points you need. In the new SPG world most airlines are 3:1 transfer rate, so if you see 20k miles needed, you'd need to transfer 60k SPG into that airline program to get the 20k.

SPG/Marriott continued the bonus miles program, so for every 60k Stariott points redeemed they'll add another 15k so you end up with 25k airline points.

This page has the full list of conversions: https://www.marriott.com/loyalty/redeem/travel/points-to-miles.mi

Depending on your redemption need, the bonuses could be worth one or two award tickets (or more if you don't mind economy saver spaces :) )

Thanks for the helpful link :)

I find quite a bit of outdated information on that website. It's fine for a quick glance to give you ideas, but definitely requires much more research to find out what reality is.

You need to multiply the SPG miles by 3 because on the 8/18 merger date all SPG miles were tripled in number so that now 1 Marriott point is the same as 1 SPG point.

Now, with SPG points being treated as Marriott points, you can transfer 3000 Marriott points for 1000 airline miles, with a bonus for converting in 60,000 pt chunks. If you do that, you will receive an extra 5,000 airline miles. New system: Marriott 60K points gives you 25K airline miles (for the most part).

A confusing issue with awardhacker is that sometimes with these partner awards (e.g. redeeming BA Avios on AA award tickets) those awards are only available if the saver award is being offered. But awardhacker won't tell you that, it takes a lot more digging to find out.

I've been using awardhacker as a jumping off point for the airlines' websites (which can be another confusing mess :magnify:)

so much math :teacher:

Good gravy, 200:1

Thanks, all!

Hey now, that's not ice cream, it's custard LOL!!
We have Culvers everywhere, and eat there often. And again, have done it more than once in a day. I love Culvers because the menu is so varied you can eat there multiple times and get different types of food each time. And they do have some healthier alternatives as well. Custard of course is not one of those LOL, but it's so darn good.
Lol tomAto tomAHto. The cheese curds and chicken fingers are what I go for

ugh, so I've been trying to get my Fidelity account that I opened for the $200 bonus unlocked. They locked it because I transferred money in and out. I transferred money from Webster Bank, my main bank, to Fidelity and then to PNC to open an account there for a bonus. Fidelity is telling me they don't allow transfers (ok, then why was I allowed to do so) and my account is flagged for fraud/money laundering. I have now provided statements from both PNC and Webster and my drivers license. I mean, do they really think I am trying to smuggle $200 out of the country? What stinks is I am supposed to keep this account open for 9 months (for the bonus) and I was planning to use $25 to open a Chase account but they might come arrest me, haha!

Oh and inconclusive DP on UR for Disney. I had to make a name change on an existing reservation. The lady from Cruise & Tours, confirmed they can not book any new Disney right now. She said she's unsure if this is a permanent or temporary change. She said they had just gotten notice on Fri. 9/14 they couldn't book any Disney reservations. The way she was going on about they really weren't sure if this was just temporary, led me to believe it's not a hard no/never ever. So we will see.

So does that mean we can still pay using UR on an existing Disney vacation, just can’t book anything new? I have a reservation that I transferred to Chase awhile back but I haven’t paid it off yet. I was waiting till closer to the deadline when I would have more UR saved up...

So weird! I transferred $25 out of mine the other day for a Chase bank bonus and I know havaneselover did the same. No issues. Although I did get a letter in the mail from Fidelity yesterday about how I've set up EFT from my account. Lord, that bank loves to send some snail mail :sad2:

Went into the AAA office today to renew my car registration and noticed they have a gift card rack with quite a few places on it. On the bottom was either Steak N Shake or Shake Shack. I don't think we have either around me. I guess they are meant for the traveler and maybe all the locations carry the same assortment. I have a Navy Federal cc that codes 3% on travel purchases and thinking that could be an option for some people to pick up GCs.

Did anyone else get an e-mail from RMN's "product team" re: requesting feedback about their cashback offers?

E-mail states "these sessions only take 30 minutes, and you'll received $20.00 as a thank you". The e-mail came from research@userinterviews.com. And I got two of them (for both my RMN accounts).

:magnify:
I didn't get that, but I did get a random email saying I can take a survey and get a free year of Netflix. The email didn't generate from Netflix, but from newsletter@firmvip.com. I don't see any affiliation with RMN, Swagbucks, etc. although I have recently signed up with both of those companies. It is an email link so I am scared to click on it if it is a virus, especially because I am on my work computer. I googled that email address to see if it is a known spam source, but I didn't see anything negative. Anyone else get this or are familiar with the sender?

I can make the quick ride to Cranston and bail you out! :cool2:

ETA: it doesn't like the city Cra nston. lol

DPs I've read say they code as travel and will trigger the $300 on the CSR or if you beyond that the 3x for CSR and 2 x for CSP.

Cap 1 Venture is nice for erasing travel related purchases that you might not be able to pay with URs through the travel portal. They will do a hard pull from all 3 bureaus though. Personally, I see it as a card to get for a specific need and/or to diversify the portfolio of point earning cards. Between that and a Freedom, I find the Freedom more valuable. 5x categories when maxed out will give you 30,000 UR worth $450 when transferred to CSR or
$375 to the CSP. The same amount of spending on the Cap 1 will give you 6,000 points worth $60.

Venture is 2 points/dollar, so it would be 12,000 points worth $120. I got one this year when offered 60,000 bonus, but don't intend to keep it beyond the first free year.

I may be a data point on this soon! My reservation was transferred to Chase in July with intention of using UR via CSR. I have been holding off contacting the Connexions TA just to see what unfolds naturally, but I have a lot of points held for this and am anxious to find out what my options are!

Venmo also triggers the shipping category on the CIP. It looks like Fred Meyer/Kroger is using GCM to process their e-gift cards. Last I checked, GCM earns 3x on the CIP too.
