I love credit cards so much!

I have a couple big expenses coming up and thought I was at 4/24 so I applied for the CIP on 9/9. Got the 30 day notice. I checked my credit report after and it turns out I'm actually at 5/24 because of a Banana Republic card opened 9/25/16, which I thought was supposed to be a store card only but it's actually a Visa. I'm assuming I'll be rejected for the CIP. Do you think I can reapply on 10/1? Or do I need to wait a full 30 days from 9/9? One of my big expenses is car insurance which is due 10/16 so I'm hoping to get the card before then to help meet the MSR.

Does Chase pull Experian for you? They do for most states. One fun thing is Experian back-dates all of your accounts to the first of the month. What this means is, when Chase pulls your credit, they see 9/1/16 for your BR card, and think you're actually 4/24.

Wait this one out. You might not be rejected. If you are - no big deal, recon again after 9/25/18. You can recon the same app up to 30 days.

I'm about to crap my pants. I'm on hold with Virgin Atlantic since they spelled Dh's name wrong. The guy told me with this kind of booking they can't make a name change.... Are you kidding me?! After all this crap and now they're saying my husband's name is going to be spelled wrong?! They better fix this or idk what I'm going to do...
I'm so sorry Haley for the additional headache. You really have been put through the ringer with this reservation. On the bright side....every other redemption after this has got to be a piece of cake!

I agree with @Lain - call the automated status line. If it doesn't say 7-10 days then you were not denied due to 5/24 (doesn't guarantee you won't be denied, just not due to that reason).

I you opened a card on 9/25/16 it likely would back date to 9/1/16 on the credit report and wouldn't count in your 5/24 anyways at this point.

Lol thanks. 57 minutes later and I finally got things fixed, but I don't think I'll be leaving the country again any time soon. Someone clearly doesn't want us going to Japan! The guy had to cancel Dh's reservation and somehow magically was able to make him a new one. We are on the same flights and everything and I have our seats picked out, but it was weird that he told me at the beginning there was no availability and almost an hour later was able to find something with his supervisor. I'm not sure I will ever use Virgin again. I haven't had that bad of problems with Frontier :sad2:

So I've been on hold for about 25 minutes off and on. He said they have to cancel his ticket and book a new one, but there aren't any available. Now he is meeting with a supervisor and they even listened to the phone call from last night when I made the booking. If they don't fix this I have no idea what we are going to do. He tried looking for other dates to book us, but couldn't find any. I feel like this is all their fault and they are responsible for fixing it. I don't understand why it's such an issue to change one freaking letter of a person's name.

That is completely ridiculous since it was their error that caused the booking with the misspelled name. I would not give up until they make it right. Keep telling them it was their error that they need to fix!!

Sapphire double dip is dead? I’m going to cry. I shouldn’t have waited to try and get the CIC before I went for it. It’s time for me to just move on from Chase there are other good bonuses out there.

Was just about to post this, I've seen chatter from /r/churning yesterday and today, and more than one solid DP. Sounds like Chase is about to close the loophole. The rejections have come from manual review. This isn't surprising, and I'm honestly more curious why it lasted as long as it did.

Yeah, I would move on from Chase. If the double-dip really is dead, and the 48-month language rolls out to all cards (like I suspect it will soon), there's no reason to stick with them anymore.

So glad they finally fixed their error...hopefully now you can start enjoying planning your trip !

I just saw that! And there was somebody else earlier today on reddit with a CSR (or P?) and a hotel or airline card

Ouch. I hate to see this, but I kind of thought that it was just a matter of time. Anything that relies on exploiting a loophole is going to be closed eventually. With Chase putting in 48 month language on Sapphire bonuses, it makes sense they'd target the only way to get two Sapphire bonuses in that 48 month period.

I'd also add that this basically kills double dipping two Southwest personal cards as a way of getting the CP, although the signup bonuses on the personal cards have been too low to do that anyway.

Wow. Never knew about this hotel. Not as convenient to WDW as Disney Springs hotels, but close to I-4.

Just searched with my Wyndham rewards and yep, available for 15k points per night, or $516.75 + 3k points per night (lol). Gonna keep this one in mind for off-property stays.

You can go right in on Sherbeth Rd to Animal Kingdom. Looks like it is pretty new construction. It is also right next to Silver Lake Resort which a friend of mine has traded into and been satisfied with for the price paid - she gets it as one of those RCI extra deals. It's got quite a few good reviews, so if I needed a room I would certainly take a chance on it.

Yup, bye bye Chase. I’ll MS on their cards until they shut me down, I really love my URs for Disney trips, but with all this DVC talk I should just redeem MRs for cash and buy DVC.

RE: Death of Double Dip
I shared thoughts on the situation here on r/churning: https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/c...doubledip_what_it_means_for_churners/e5v33n4/

Basically saying this has minimal affect on experienced churners...

Unfortunately we have a VERY different demographic here than on r/churning. We have a lot more SLOW churners, a lot more people actively remaining under 5/24 and a lot of newer folks. I'm very sorry that this will affect your plans moving forward. That said...the $8k MSR was very high...and given the current rules you can still get CIP, CIU, CIC, CF, CFU in addition to CSR so there are a TON of UR earning opportunities out there!

I started the free trial with Expert Flyer and was very pleasantly surprised that they did not ask for any credit card info to start the trial. I thought for sure it would be one of those situations where I had to provide payment info and then it would be my responsibility to cancel before the trial ended and they started charging me. Anyway, so far it seems fairly intuitive. I was able to do a query for award upgrades on our Emirates flights (none showing available, butt search results were easy enough to decipher). I was able to save that query so I can come back and check myself any time. I was also able to set up alerts for each leg of our flights so I will be notified if upgrades become available. I set up alerts for each leg and for business and first for each. This is actually really helpful because, although Emirates is supposed to have a feature on its website to set up a similar alert, I cannot get the Emirates ones to work. Even though the agents on the phone tell me it should work, I think it is because I booked using UR, and so Emirates thinks my booking was made via a travel agent and won’t let me make changes online. I was not able to set up alerts for our outbound flights on Swiss to see if first opens up. At first I thought maybe these were only two-class flights, but when I look at the seat maps, I do see first. But Expert Flyer won’t pull up first as an upgrade option to even search. So my reaction so far is that Expert Flyer could be very helpful for the Emirates flights ad not so helpful for the Swiss flights (although I’m not sure I’d even upgrade the Swiss from business to first unless it seemed like a bargain with regard to the number of miles needed). But at least I can check the Swiss flights for upgrades to to first very easily on the United website. I’ll see how I feel in a few days, but right now I’m inclined to sign up, at least through the booking of our Japan flightss for 2020 and see how much value I get out of the subscription.

If you’re actually 5/24, your CIP application will be denied. Have you checked the automated status line?

Check Chase's automated status line by calling 1-800-432-3117, follow the prompts and press #, 3, 1, SSN. This should give you the status of your application. If it's pending at "30 days," your application is still being reviewed; "2 weeks" is still looking good, with likely approval; "7-10 days" is likely denial and you'll get a letter explaining the decision.

If it looks like you’ve been denied, wait for the letter to see for what reason. If it’s because of something like too many accounts in the past 24 months, that’s the 5/24 rule at work. It looks like the BR Visa will age past 24 months on 9/25/18. That’s in less than 2 weeks.

You have 30 days from submitting your application to seek reconsideration. If you feel confident enough to call recon, you can call Chase after 9/25 and ask that they disregard the BR Visa since it’ll be older than 24 months (and thus drop you back under 5/24). However, Chase could ask you about your business on the recon call, and I don’t know how comfortable you are about such questions.

The reconsideration line is 1-888-270-2127 and should be on any denial letter you receive.

Recon really is the best shot you have at getting the CIP approved in the next 2 weeks; and if approved, you can ask Chase to expedite the card to you so you can put your big expenses on it.

If you don’t feel comfortable calling recon, you’ll just let the denial stand and reapply 31 days after submitting your previous CIP application. You won’t be able to reapply on 10/1, because that’ll run afoul of Chase’s 0/30 rule. Wait 31 days from 9/9. Keep in mind that Chase business card applications can be approved instantly or take a few days to get a decision. Once approved, you can request the CIP be expedited, and that takes about 2 days.

Thanks! I called the automated status line and it's still saying 30 days. I'm in CT so it looks like they pull Experian. It's nice to know there's still some hope. I'm not sure how I'd feel about calling recon if I had to since it's a "business" - I've sewn some baby clothes and blankets that I've sold to friends/family. I'll see if it gets to that point. I figure if worst comes to worst, I'll have my fiancé apply.

Just bought a new (used) car a couple weeks ago - a good deal popped up sooner than I expected so no time to apply for a new credit card. $5,000 downpayment that I couldn't apply to a MSR :worried:

Let's put some numbers on those cards. CSR (50k), CIP (80k), CIU (50k), CIC (50k), CF (15k), CFU (15k). If you're willing to dabble in Chase business cards, that's 260k UR in signup bonuses, at least 16k UR more from MSR, and at least 30k UR from referring P2, who can go through the same slate and get another 260k UR in signup bonuses and 16k UR from spend. That's a total of ~582k UR in 2-Player mode.
