I love credit cards so much!

Obviously, she will have to have a huge wedding - otherwise there won't be room for all her friends from the board. @speedyfishy - when can we all expect our save the dates?

I really only want like 40 people but I gotta invite my whole extended family. I hope most RSVP no lol. I’d much rather have my friends on here come.

Banking question...

As I have been opening accounts for bonuses, I have been moving accounts over from Wells Fargo and closing them. For example, DH's discover account for bonus is now on of our kids' savings accounts and I closed the WF one. So I am doing it slowly so I get a bonus each time. Our main savings is at ally. I also have a discover savings that I keep my bonuses in. I am trying to decide where to move out checking account to. I am leaning discover b/c of the 1% rebate. We obviously rarely (never) swipe a debit card, but it is nice to have in case debit is required somewhere. The other one I was considering is ally since our main savings account is there. I also could do fidelity since I did the bonus savings thing there recently and also have rollover IRAs there. Anyone have experience with any of these checking accounts? I'm not so worried about getting a bonus for this particular account opening, just want a good checking account to get away from Wells Fargo.

I love my Discover checking. You can get that 1% buying MOs and it will be good practice before you start really MSing. Lol

I’ve given up on that at this point. SW should just make a special announcement & load then up the first day they can. I feel like every time we see schedule announcements are later we go “ooh, maybe they’re waiting for HI flights?” Fool me once SW.... (“whose this we pilgrim? You don’t fly SW...” one might ask me. Being CA I’m excited for what these HI flights will do to all other HI flight prices!!)
Well I believe they are at others’ mercy in getting all approvals for those flights. So it is possible that each time, they are hoping as well that they get to start booking Hawaii flights.

I have been 30-40 pages behind since vacation in July but I am jumping ahead to ask for advice on booking AA award flights. My window has just opened for our flight out but I still have a few days before I can book our flight home. It will be myself and 2 boys flying from PHL to MHH for a scout trip. Should I book 2 one way trips or wait for the round trip to open? The troop will be getting trip insurance as it is hurricane season, any advice for insuring a trip booked on points? Anything else I need to know? I have cancelled and rebooked SW flights several times, but this is more intimidating. :)
TIA
One ways. Much easier to find award space on AA, at least for me. If you find outgoing flights at sAAver rates, you can put them on hold for 5 days and keep looking. Sometimes more opens, sometimes not.
ETA
Trip insurance will usually cover fees to cancel your points bookings and redeposit your points. Not sure of fees these days, but when it happened to us, it was $150 and travel insurance paid it.

Can DAH tickets be purchased via Chase Tour/Cruise department? I'm thinking about going Dec 10.

If you're sure of your origin & destination, I'd go with one-way redemptions for the flexibility. AA will allow you to change your schedule (dates & times & routes) of an award booking with NO FEE as long as the origin & destination remain the same, and travel has to be done within 12 months of original booking.

Trip insurance on trips booked on points would only cover your penalty to redeposit your points. For AA, that means $150 for the first person + $25 per add'l passenger on the same PNR. If you book one ways, you get a PNR for each one way.

Was it Peggy K? She was great when I booked our hotels for Labor Day weekend. She kept telling me she was jealous of our trips  I wish I'd gotten her extension.
Good question. I had been able to see her name when I added the reservation to my Disney experience but I can't see anymore. And you just reminded me that I never received the email confirmation from them. Luckily, I wrote down the Disney confirmation number while on the phone with her.

Totally, off topic...but I can only locate DH and my MagicBands from many years ago (they are the old, skinny design). Will we receive new MagicBands at check-in since there was no time from them to be mailed or will I have to purchase DS a new band?

Do you maybe have a local trustworthy credit union?

I've been a member of a MS coast credit union (http://www.kfcu.org) for many years. The nice thing is, I can initiate a transfer from my CU account, and they will often credit our checking account later that day. This is especially nice when I'm using a real direct deposit to trigger a requirement on a different account, because I know I can get it back into our main account right away. CUs tend to be a little better about this sort of thing.

For a publicly available CU, Alliant is popular. Reasonably high rate checking (0.65%), and a high-rate savings of 1.8%. I've been thinking about moving all of our funds there.

You should get new MBs. We had one night Poly at the beginning of our trip, then 3 nights Dolphin, and got new MBs. I think they give them at check in.

They are also quick to take your money. Lol. Our car loan is with a credit union. I drop off a check at 3pm and it has posted to my Chase checking account before close of business that day.

Awesome! Will we get to choose our color? I believe there are more options available than previously.

I'm looking for my next bank move too. I'm still waiting for my HSBC bonus to post, but I cannot wait to move my money out and close the account (even through I'm getting $350 for doing it I've been hating having $$$ tied up over there - they're icky and I hate even checking my balance on their website...) I would, however, like my next move to net me a bonus, if I can manage it :)

Slowly working through. I did receive nights for this stay I booked for my grandpa, I just had it under my name and added him as the second guest so he could check in on his own... you know, because he was arriving before me... This was at the beginning of July. I never actually stopped at the desk or anything.

We talked about doing this but these are international redemptions so we don't want to take any chances with the possibility of something going wrong while in Spain. She's moving/driving from hotel to hotel - Barcelona to Madrid to wherever over a weeks period and it's kind of important that the nights are seamless with less possibility for errors. She does speak Spanish and taught English as a second language in Spain (at a catholic school) back about 5 or 6 years ago and lived there but has only visited the other cities a couple of times.

Hoping you guys can help me with the best way to proceed on this.

So, was at our MN State Fair this weekend and ended up buying a $200 Steam Mop. Looked awesome and some people there were saying it was great. We have had ours for about 9 years so time for a new one. Well, I tried it out and it is awful. It cleans just fine and lots of steam comes out but it was so hard to push that my arm and shoulder is still sore a few days later. ( I should not have to go to the chiro every time I mop my floor). Of course - no returns. I did call the company anyway and they said they would let me return it for 25% restock.

I had used DH's new AMEX Gold Premier (the one where I may not get the bonus because I ignored the pop up). Anyway. I contacted them and asked if something like this was covered under their purchase protection. She said I could file a purchase protection claim of they could file a dispute with the company and put a hold on the charge until it is resolved. I have no idea which way to go on this. Any suggestions? Or is it not worth it at all and just lose the $50 and send back.
