I love credit cards so much!

So my 20k self-referral bonus on the SPG Lux posted to my new SPG account (haven't merged with my Marriott account yet) this morning. Applied 8/24, noticed the points added to the YTD tally on my Amex SPG Personal account about 8/26, posted 8/29.

There's also an additional 20k points, so I'm guessing someone out there used my link and didn't tell me. Don't be a stranger; we're all friends here. Thank you so very much.
I see 20k on DHs too, I'm assuming since I self referred him to himself...

Side note: he hasn't noticed the approval email yet.

I'll be the data point I'm waiting on too :P If they do come through, then I guess I'll book one night at a Starriott in Nashville since I need one anyways, and then maybe that's what I'll look for when I go back to see my cousin's baby for the weekend...

How long does the status last? I never paid attentions since I thought I would just be meh gold.

Sounds like it wouldn't be too difficult for you to achieve the additional nights. Status will last until Feb of 2020 (earn in the calendar year, get next calendar year + January of following year. I think it may go to the end of Feb, but I'm not certain.)

Hopefully this is true since I did do the upgrade. I can't remember who else was thinking about it, but could be another reason to upgrade instead of get a completely new card.

To celebrate the new SPG Lux (and also because last weekend the girls fought and were crabby) we are taking the long weekend and going on a road trip! Just two nights at the TownePlace Suites. But should be fun. I actually ran airfare but could not justify the expense. But at least on a road trip the gas can be also used to meet my MSR's.
that was me....thanks for the link. I'm still debating my choices here...as I have to figure out if I can make this AF worthwhile...I'm trying to wrap my mind around the benefits of this card...it's pay $450(!) get a $300 credit so effective $150 cost....which is only $55 higher than current AF. So if I upgraded,I would get another 100k in my acct for an effective $55? (do I have this right?) plus a free 50k nite on anniversary next year? My current AF is due this month. So it's essentially getting 100k on my acct for $55....right? I guess my big question is can I use that $300 credit for gift cards at a front desk, and use them later one?(like after next year's anniversary date) So that by Aug/Sept 2019 I would have paid an extra $55,gotten 100k points, plus the ann. free night, and then I could cancel card after free night gets dropped in for a prorated AF refund on the next years $450? what do you numbers experts think? If I don't upgrade,I'm canceling this card anyway,so..... (sigh) ETA and fix all my acronym mistakes before I drank enough tea today:crazy:

Hm, I thought the SPG Biz before Aug 1 was still eligible for the 5 nights/2 stays. @jhoannam I think you got it for the nights when it was the $200 credit bonus right? did you ever get the 5 nights like you wanted?

Forever :p Or at least it feels like it, at least 6 years but I think it's closer to 7. Since this is hubby's card I'm a little fuzzy on it, I have to have him check on it so I can stalk the anniversary elite nights. But we've been getting our anniversary night cert on Dec 1 the last few years. So somewhere around there is where I'm expecting the nights to show up (way to wait until the last minute, right? nail biter)

Do you have any rollover nights showing in your detail breakdown? Like the Marriott Biz I was sure you got your nights at card open because that's what gave you Silver Elite status, and then each card anniversary year there after you got nights. So if you opened it in Dec, I'd have expected you to have 5 rollover nights in your total this year (need 10 to make Silver for 2017, anything left after making status is eligible for rollover) I wish I'd have paid more attention last year but when I calculated all our rollover, having the 5 nights from the card is the only way it added up. But if all the bloggers are to be believed, you should be getting your anniversary nights late Dec and may make it? You didn't upgrade yet to the Premier Plus, right?

You are the data point I'm waiting on. The not stacking card nights was supposed to go into effect 2019 so in theory we should all be good with this year's anniversary nights. Everyone says it should work, but I'm getting nervous with all the program terms changing and nothing being mentioned about this sort of "grandfathering" this year after the merge.
I did get the 5 nights, I had a total of 10, but then the merger happened and 5 are gone. I need to call, I haven't merged the accounts because I want this fixed before all the data disappears. I have 32 Marriott nights and 10 SPG nights. I have 8 nights booked before the end of the year.

I didn't pay much attention...have the Lux cards been expedited or are they coming snail mail?

See, perfect reason to get my Europe trip planed for Jan 2020... :rotfl:

Also, if I had realized this before I definitely would have booked one more night at the Dolphin for 12k SPG points instead of using URs for a night at AS Movies. Dang it! And then I could have done the Four Points by Universal for the first night instead of Cabana Bay... DH would probably have a heart attack if I moved things around now  Also 50k marriott points for Dolphin :sad2:

So I received my SPG Biz, confirmed it, log in, and see that it does not have my Marriott number attached even though I put it on my application. It just says "not available." When I click the only button available which says "earn now," it just takes me to the SPG page where I log in to Marriott account. What gives? Are my accounts not connected?

ETA: Never had an SPG account or number before, only Marriott.

My SPG Biz did that for the first few days, then my account number showed up.

Ok, so here is where I ended up for our Labor Day trip:

Officially booked for Labor Day trip :)
  • Flights on SW with CP:
    • Fri - 10651 RRs
    • Tues - 9054 RRs
  • Hotels:
    • All Star Movies Fri night - $137.11/9,141 URs
    • All Star Music Sat-Tues nights - $496.01/33,067 URs
  • Tickets:
    • MNSSHP - $159.76 (think I'll just use my gift card stash)
    • Volcano Bay - will buy UCTs 3 park, 3 day + 2 days free tickets and upgrade to seasonal pass for $0
      • Cost $279 each, vs the UCT we were going to get for Sept ($271) plus 1 day VB tickets ($90)
    • Disney Waterparks - $256 for 2 people for 4 days... might try to use UR pts... might upgrade tickets to APs early (we'll definitely upgrade one because discounts plus memory maker outweigh the cost)

Because I can't leave well enough alone, I was poking around and see I could get flights home Wednesday morning with Frontier for $98 or 6560 URs. Direct flight 7am-9am so DH would be able to work still. Then I would get back my 9k RRs for the Tuesday night flight (which is at 7pm). So I thought, hmmm, how many UR points is another 6-8 hours of park time worth (assuming we leave whatever we're doing around 3pm for a 4pm DME pickup)...

Well guess what. I can get Pop for Sat - Wed for TWO DOLLARS LESS than AsMusic is costing for Sat - Tues. So 127 less URs here, 6560 URs for a flight but get back 9054 RRs...

How can I not???? It's like they're paying me points to stay another night!
:rotfl2:

I typically do my own research on offers. Google, my own personal history, Reddit. If you are looking at an offer and ask here I’m sure we’ll be able to help determine where it stacks up historically!
I did the BCP offer last year with no AF and $200 cashback at 1st it was amazing. I just wish I maxed it out but I never got close to the 6k limit bc of MSR on other cards all year.... it's a great card.

I'd suggest watch the dis unplugged podcast from today regarding the MNSSHP and read the threads about them. Just make sure things are refundable (SW on RR would be, but also room) so that if the reports about the MVMCP come back like those of the MNSSHP this year, you can always change your mind. It sounds like the ride lines have not been like the years past so far at the 2018 parties.
I called Disney last night... there are no good rooms available. We were really hoping to stay at a monorail resort, and the only thing available at $650 rooms. Not happening. I'm going to keep the flights just in case something opens up. But at this point we aren't going.

Oddly enough, with all the things that could go wrong with the changes, that's not one I thought would happen. Possibly when you merged the accounted nights go missing, sure, but to just log into an existing account unchanged?

As I was searching around to try to find the T&C from SPG cards I got this comment on DoC's site with the excerpt about the SPG nights stacking: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/amer...ng-200-statement-credits-only/#comment-584059

If you've got the terms I hope this is an easy fix for everyone. Fingers crossed!

Thank you for the help! Here is how my activity looks but I don't understand it I guess lol!

ETA: I do have both the pers and biz spg but my biz one is new'ish. Maybe I haven't gotten the nights for that one?
I'm having the same problem, they are all the sudden not counting the nights from one card - they were counted before the merger. I hope they didn't all the sudden change the T&Cs because that's just BS.

That's exactly what my T&C say, and the 5 nights from the SPG posted on 7/31/2018.

And this is not what they are supposed to do? If I should have 25 nights and gold, then, by golly, I want that. Marriott already messed with me on the N&F's package and I'm still mad at them...!
Same here, I should have 42 nights, but 5 nights from my SPG account aren't being counted. I need to call - school started last week and our schedule is soooo crazy. Let me know what they say about those 5 nights if you call before me.

Hmmmm, I just combined both mine and dh Marriott/SPG accounts, and discovered that somehow there was 16k points in his SPG account I didn't know were there. Ugh, could have transferred those over to join my Marriott points long ago, before the merge. Am I seeing correctly that now I have to pay $10 to share them and can only do it over the phone? He is never going to call them :-(.
