I love credit cards so much!

If you transfer 60,000 (old spg 20,000) points you'll get a 15,000 point additional (which translates to 5,000 miles). If you transfer 45,000 points then you'd only receive 15,000 miles. The numbers are all just multiplied and divided by 3 so 60,000 is the new magic number for the additional points (15,000/3= 5,000). Sorry if that's confusing...haven't had my caffeine load this am yet.

***note most airlines are 3 Marriott:1 airline mile but United is 3 Marriott:1.1 airline mile

Crack open that Dr. Pepper! :drinking1

How early does Chase announce the next quarter's category(ies) for the Freedom 5%? Is it a couple weeks ahead? Or like Friday for the Monday?

If the Q4 categories are something we can easily max out on two CFs, I will refer dh for his own.If not, I'll have him get a different Chase card in September.

If I take the upgrade one thing that would be handy is PP access. I have it on CSR but DH does not. He is an AU on my current SPG, if I upgrade with him as an AU could that affect his 4/24 status? Not worth it just for lounge access....

That's okay, the bonuses are the most profitable part of the business!:rotfl:
I'm so sorry...at least your 'business' is successful at getting you CC bonuses :) I've had mostly good experiences selling on eBay but I don't like selling on CL or offer up or anywhere else really.

I wonder if our "revenue" should start being the total cost saved using our points. :teacher:

I just self-referred myself for the SPG Lux, and was approved.

Amex gave the option to get the card number now, but I declined since I've still got a slog on the Hilton Biz and Biz Platinum. Amex says the card will arrive in 3-5 business days, but some folks on r/churning report Amex is saying the SPG Lux is being expedited to everyone.

No ineligibility pop-up warning, even though I've opened 5 Amex cards (MB Plat, SPG Personal, Hilton Biz, Biz Plat, Biz Green) since April and now a 6th Amex card this year with the SPG Lux.

The site isn't letting me add the card to one of my existing accounts, though, and I don't really want to create another login (even if Amex can merge accounts later) now that the Amex Offers multi-login, multi-tab trick is dead.

This should take me out of the game for a few months. Player 2's getting called up next.

What else...?

I need more coffee. :surfweb:

Oh, you should have taken the instant card option! Sometimes Amex's website errors out and you don't get it, so Amex gives you a statement credit or points as compensation.

You won't be able to add the card yet. Amex is finicky. Save that email and wait a few hours (or possibly as long as tomorrow), and you should be able to add it.

I’m confused if I upgrade do I ge the $300 now and again on my anniversary or not until my anniversary? The language is confusing. Also the free cert would be what I get from the regular SPG the first anniversary. That language is pretty clear.

ETA: sorry so many questions!!!

Has anyone stacked an Amex offer with a portal like topcashback, or Ibotta? I want to use the Amex ebags offer with Ibotta, but the terms say it has to be directly through the merchant.
Done it many times, even with Ebags/AMEX offers with topcashback specifically.
What was your spend on the 100K upgrade? Mine was $1000 for 15K. I had already applied before they put an upgrade out for me. I wonder if I could do both? Slip it in before they look at it again? Sort of a double dip? That would be 2 of the 50K nights for me - worth $150 each. $150 is peanuts on those redemptions.
This would be interesting. I also got the 15k/$1000 upgrade offer.
I think most of the terms say digital wallets and other 3rd party charges might not count. Like if you used your AmEx through PayPal it wouldn't be picked up. They are looking for a charge from eBags to trigger the credit. Sometimes you do have to go through a special Amex site to get the deal, other times it works on any charge even though it gives you link to follow.
So you can do most AmEx offers through shopping portals, as you are shopping directly with the merchant. I've done a few through Swagbucks with no problems.
I've never had a problem using Samsung Pay with an AMEX offer. But I can't think of an offer where, if it hadn't triggered because of Samsung Pay, I would have been upset over having to go again, if that makes sense.

Someone else mentioned Cap1 being slow which I have no experience with, but I can say Ally transfers take several business days as well. It's just the way they are. It's annoying. I was planning to switch to Ally as our main checking, but with the amount of bank bonuses/transfers we do, I just couldn't deal with that. I'll just use their high interest savings for our emergency funds.
I haven't tried another Amex yet, but I will be soon. I assume I'm going to be a candidate for that popup because I have been hitting Amex hard this year, but we'll find out for sure. That Hilton Biz offer is really tempting.

This particular transfer was ally to cap one...double whammy. haha!

I've been resisting the FOMO of the SPG Lux - I don't need another $450 AF, but I really could do with replenishing my Starriott stash, and I do have a Starriott stay planned in a couple of months. No rush, though, because I haven't gotten a Marriott bonus within the last 2 years, so I can wait and do it later, right? Its just going to start the 2 year clock when I can get the next Marriott card a little later, right? I did get the SPG Biz, but that doesn't seem to limit my ability to get the Lux bonus, right? Breathing deeply...

Here's the new restriction in the SPG Lux's Offer Terms:

Effective 8/26, welcome offer not available to applicants who (i) have or have had The Ritz-Carlton Rewards® Credit Card from JP Morgan in the last 30 days, (ii) have acquired The Marriott Rewards® Premier Plus Credit Card from Chase, The Marriott Rewards®Premier Credit Card from Chase, or The Marriott Rewards® Premier Business Credit Card from Chase in the last 90 days, or (iii) received a welcome or upgrade offer for The Marriott Rewards® Premier Plus Credit Card from Chase, The Marriott Rewards® Premier Credit Card from Chase, or The Marriott Rewards® Premier Business Credit Card from Chase in the last 24 months.

1. Have or have had the following card in the last 30 days
  • The Ritz-Carlton credit card
2. Have acquired the following cards in the last 90 days
  • Marriott Rewards Premier Plus
  • Marriott Rewards Premier
  • Marriott Rewards Premier Business
3. Received a welcome or upgrade offer for the following cards in the last 24 months
  • Marriott Rewards Premier Plus
  • Marriott Rewards Premier Credit Card
  • Marriott Rewards Premier Business
If you haven't gotten a Marriott card bonus in the last 2 years, and don't plan to open up any Marriott cards within 90 days before applying for the SPG Lux, you're not disqualified for the SPG Lux under the new rules. The SPG Biz doesn't affect your ability to get the SPG Lux. The SPG Biz also doesn't affect your ability to get the SPG Personal. However, the SPG Lux and Personal are personal cards that will add to your */24 count with Chase, although Amex can take up to two months to report these new cards to the credit bureaus, so consider how this fits in with your 5/24 strategy.

They only give 2-3 weeks notice before the next quarter. It’s strange...not sure why chase thinks it’s such a big secret!

This. Happened with my last two Amex cards. Wouldn't add to existing account upon approval, but after a day or so, was able to add with no issues.

You know, I was just reminded of that last night when reading the new Hilton Biz thread on r/churning. But [in]conveniently forgot it this morning. I apparently didn't have enough coffee.

A question to those that accumulate Delta points - Are there any ways to get points besides credit cards or shopping portals?

For example - in addition to various credit card points and shopping portals, I get SW and JB points through surveys; United has the MPX app....

Wondering if Delta has anything. I don't fly Delta but DS would like to use them when commuting to and from college. I can't get a co-branded CC now. I already transfer Amex MR points now and then.

We get a few miles from Georgia Natural Gas, Rental Cars, and Parking at the airport. There is a Suntrust Debit card that will get you miles as well. There is a fee for the card. We had it for several years, but have cancelled it. If you have the Amex Biz Plat, you can use MRs to pay for the flight and then get 35% back in a month. The best part of paying this way is that you get miles for flying. If you have a business, you can sign up for the Skybonus account. You have to have 5 people flying each year and $5K in Delta spend. The Skybonus miles accumulate separately and it takes 90K miles for a ticket. Perhaps your DS could get a Delta card.

Yeah, usually it's around the 14th or 15th of the month before the start of a new quarter. Should be around 9/15. There might be some leaks before then.

Lately they've been stingy and we don't know until the 15th when you can activate it. It'll leak on the 14th usually. Really not much point in a "calendar" anymore when all it says is 'Holiday offers'.... um thanks?, wouldn't have guessed that.

Done it many times, even with Ebags/AMEX offers with topcashback specifically.

This would be interesting. I also got the 15k/$1000 upgrade offer.

Yeah I think they're covering themselves in case something screwy happens as tech changes. Stuff like Google/Apple/Samsung pay should work like normal. I should think the Checkouts should to (Amex, Visa, Amazon (maybe?)) but I'm not really sure how similar or different they are to PayPal type methods. In theory I think they are meant to be like the Pay apps and should work too, I just never took the time to set one up to try it out.... incentive not big enough yet

Thank you. I cannot go the Delta (co-branded or Amex) CC route at this time since I am focused on earning United Points for an upcoming family trip and will use my Chase 5/24 slots for new cards that will help with that. I do not want business cards either.
DS cannot meet the MSR even if he would be approved. I cannot help with MSR since I am working on MSR for other cards (again - United Points).

We have lots of SW and some JB points he can use to fly with no out of pocket expense so he would use those before we pay for flights on Delta. Flying Delta is something he WANTS - not something he NEEDS. He NEEDS to get home and back to school several times a year. He is in an area where there are plenty of options.

I was just curious if there were other ways to earn points. I earn a lot of "free" points on SW and JB each year without credit cards. Would like to do the same for Delta if possible.

Once I satisfy my yearning for United points and/or other Chase cards on my list, I will look into CC that would maximize Delta award flights. But I just cannot do that now. Got to stick to my plan.

Here's a question... you used to get 2x starpoints on restaurant charges at SPG hotels too. Are restaurants still going to trigger those bonus points?
