I love credit cards so much!

I tried my upgrade offer, it was 15k... guess I'll call for a retention offer tomorrow. I'm not sure if I'll keep it... the first year, I saved $275 with AMEX offers. This year I'm at $80, with $35 to come from BB and Staples... and most of that has been in the last 3 months. If it's another year for a free night... :sad2:

If you stay at a hotel with a convention rate, do you still get points and perks of status, etc?

I know we talked Texas, but I don't remember if we shared where in Texas. My family is in LC. I'm not, Houston is too concrete and humid for me. I'm loving the Austin area.

I have family in Houston, Austin, SA and Dallas area, as well in a few remote parts of TX. I grew up in Vidor (so glad I escaped that place!). I do remember you mentioning that your sister, IIRC, is in LC. I am no Houston fan but my family is all over it lol, so I end up there at least once a year. I'm going back in early Sept for my Memaw's 90th bday and then will be back in LC around Thanksgiving for a wedding. We were in Austin last summer and it's so nice there!

I am just not having the best luck with selling.

History with person who didnt pay for ebay item:
  • Fri midnight: auction ends
  • Sat afternoon: I send invoice
  • Sun: person leaves feedback "
    Great price and arrived fast"
  • Mon afternoon: I send invoice and message
  • Tues afternoon: I open case
  • Wed afternoon: receive payment
Me: :confused3

I also put a few things up on FB marketplace. I have a jacket I put up for $50, figure if I get it it would be easier than ebay and no fees. Someone has offered $25... sorry, this jacket is selling on ebay every day for $70+, if I sold it there for $50 with free shipping I'd still make more than $25... also had a wedding dress I posted, $50 - nothing fancy, got it from jcpenney for under $100. Person says they're interested, then doesnt respond to message all day

The downsides of my "business" :charac2: Poor me... lol.

I'm so sorry...at least your 'business' is successful at getting you CC bonuses :) I've had mostly good experiences selling on eBay but I don't like selling on CL or offer up or anywhere else really.

Speaking of AF... how long does it take for one to post? I still do not see the $450 charge on my CSR.

Dh checked my chase account on his phone on the app and apparently it’s saying our next closing date is September 3. Is that different than the statement date? Will we see the points soon after September 3?

So - I will give you my experience...but with some of the due date changes you have going on, it may not be the same...(just putting that out there)...

I met the minimum spend on my CIP card on July 14th (the charge actually posted around July 16th) and I could see the 80k points pending by Friday July 20th.

My "Next Closing Date" at that time was listed as August 10th. I believe the 80k points were in my account and available for use on Aug 11th or 12th (it is typically next day in my experience).

So Assuming there isn't anything else strange going on behind the scenes, I would assume your points will be available on September 4th...

IIRC, it posted about a month after opening the card. I do remember how painful that $450 felt knowing it would not go towards the MSR :sad2:
Thanks! I should have planned on getting my travel credit the same month. I guess I figured Chase would have wanted it’s moeny right away. At least I “saved” $300 this month!
Since you opened your card in August you should expect to see the AF charged on 9/1/18 and each year thereafter on 9/1.
Thanks! The 100,000 UR points will help ease the blow of the AF next month. 9/1 (of next year) also sounds like it will be a great day to downgrade the CSP!

So I've been trying to decide how to redeem my Marriott Cat 1-5 (now 1-4) N+F certificate, and i found the Springhill Suites Anaheim Maingate that I think I want to use in Oct. It has good reviews, is a pretty new property, is listed as .6 miles from DL, has free breakfast, and can fit 6 in the room. Has anyone stayed here and can offer any advice if this is a good place to stay?

I went ahead and booked it today, well sort of. First I called the number listed on the Marriott website that it says to call to attach to N/F cert. Well, that number is actually SPG and although she tried, the rep wasn't able to book it, and said she'd transfer me to a Marriott rep who could. Well, she hung up on me instead. Ok, no problem, I call Marriott. 35 minutes later am talking to a rep, who is in the process of booking for me, and all of a sudden am disconnected. Ok, fine, hang up and call back. 25 minutes later talk to a different rep, who books the resort for me, bu says he can't actually attach the cert for approx. a month, but at least the hotel is reserved and won't be booked up. Great! Well, not really because I looked online tonight and he actually reserved 9/13-9/20 instead of 10/13-10/20! :badpc::badpc::badpc:

Assuming I can get this straightened out tomorrow and get the right dates booked, it will be a pretty sweet last minute trip. We''ll be gone a week and kids will only miss 3 days of school (kids are kind and 2nd grade so I think it's ok), SW had flights from Wichita to SNA for approx 17k RT with convenient flight times, which meant only 34k because of my CP, and DM can use her SW points and CP (which expires end of this year) for free flights too! DH will be staying home for this one as he can't miss work, and really doesn't mind not going either. Now to research DL as I've only been there one about 8 years ago. Any tips or good research spots are appreciated! :)

Alright hopefully we see the points around September 4th. Thanks!

I didn't know you could book the Wyndham Disney Bonnet Creek! We *might* have enough UR for a cabin at Fort Wilderness which would be our first choice, but I have been trying to convince myself that an off-site two bedroom would be a much better use of points. Even though the Wyndham is "off-site" it's still in the Disney Bubble.

I did some quick looking around, and do you know the difference between all of the 2-bedroom point values?

I’m not exactly sure what the difference is, never stayed there....the description of the rooms seemed the same for 2 bedrooms costing different amounts of points. My son use to work for Wyndham and he told me in dollars higher floors and firework views cost more...but those aren’t listed in the descriptions...so I’ll see in December.

Another nice 2 bedroom we stayed at was Sheridan Vista....really close to the parks...his girlfriend works there selling timeshares and got us it for around $500 for a week a few months ago

Just got the Southwest Biz for reluctant P2 today! Companion Pass here we come! I couldn't find it using search, but do I need to do a different login for business cards? Thanks for all the help!!

When I got one a few years ago I did have to set up a new log in...but that may have changed

Has anyone stacked an Amex offer with a portal like topcashback, or Ibotta? I want to use the Amex ebags offer with Ibotta, but the terms say it has to be directly through the merchant.

I got 100k. Does upgrading count against 5/24? I really don't think I need this card. Must.Practice.Restraint.

What was your spend on the 100K upgrade? Mine was $1000 for 15K. I had already applied before they put an upgrade out for me. I wonder if I could do both? Slip it in before they look at it again? Sort of a double dip? That would be 2 of the 50K nights for me - worth $150 each. $150 is peanuts on those redemptions.

FPs made and got everything we wanted!!! The only thing that bugs me is getting Frozen later than I planned, but I'll keep modifying to see if I can get it earlier. It really makes so much difference having a longer trip. We took our niece and her mom in February for 5 days and I remember being so stressed about getting FOP. This time it wasn't even a challenge. I also was able to be up early to text my mom happy birthday so win-win.
