I love credit cards so much!

Should I leave open my Amex Travel Credit card? I think I opened it about 6 years ago and never use it. It's been discontinued and the point values are awful. 0 annual fee but I worry about my credit score taking a hit and maybe my score is benefitting from having it open?
If it’s one of your oldest cards I’d keep it since it does not have an annual fee

We still haven’t gotten our bonus for my CIP. We moved the statement date and confirmed with chase that it was changed to September 10. I’m getting a little worried about buying plane tickets...

My bonus points of only showed up when the statement closed after I hit the $5,000 spend... .which looks like in your case 9/10 they should post

The first step is admitting you have a problem ;)

Hi everyone, my name is Calypso and I am addicting to travel hacking.

I have diligently researched ways to exploit the terms and conditions of various credit card companies, shopping portals and dining reward programs for the last 6 years. This behavior has caused me and my family to have outrageous and unique experiences in a plethora of areas around the globe.

... wait, I just re-read that and it doesn't sound like a problem. Carry on.

So your suggested plan put a bit of space between the cards I outlined. I can't go for the CSP/CSR double dip because I already have a CSP card (over 24 months but I don't think they will issue me another one, will they?) My plan is not to leave chase but to accumulate as many URs as possible. If I do go with AMEX it will put my spend in Membership Rewards which I don't have many, but could help in transferring them to an airline, which I could be doing with my URs to United for a future trip.

I modified my dates for applications but I DO NOT want to get shut down. If I get a denial I'll modify those dates further, I guess.

Anyone have all of these Chase business cards, both players? Is it unusual to have all of these Chase cards within 2-3 years?

I have two Chase business cards right now...the SW business 9/17 and CIP 5/18....my plan is to close the SW business after my 6,000 anniversary points post, then a month or so later apply for the CIC. Next year I’ll cancel the CIP prior to,the fee hitting and apply for the CIU

We hit the $5,000 spend right before our last statement but I guess just missed it since it had to process. We tried moving our date sooner so the points would post sooner but it didn’t seem to work.

You see them pending though right? IF they missed your last statement they will not post until your next statement closes. It's unfortunately how it works...now if you don't see the 80k pending, that's a different level of panic.

As it relates to buying plane tickets...I'm not a good person for advice there but I understand you're concerned. Are you paying for the flight with URs OR are you transferring URs to a partner?

Oh...what a pain that you were sooo close...I do find it seems to take longer with the CIP for charges to post than my Personal Chase cards

I'm sorry - I just saw that you had already addressed the timing on the CSR/CSP double dip!! How does Chase even allow this?? I thought they were getting more strict. I hope they don't shut me out! Maybe I will be spared since I am such a longtime customer - like 20 years - way before I heard anything about credit card points.
That's what true churning is! We have so many newer people here that probably don't realize this but this game used to be the wild west:
  • People would churn cards every few months
  • There was no AMEX once per lifetime
  • There was no Chase 5/24 rule
  • People were getting 4 of the same BofA card A DAY!
Of course, times have changed...BUT under Chase's clearly stated rules, you can churn their cards every 24-27 months depending on when you last earned the bonus. You just can't currently hold that card when you go to reapply (so PC or cancel 30 days in advance).

When you login right now...when does it say your next payment is due?

Wow you guys have been busy the last couple of days.

Got rained out at the beach but ended up taking the kids shopping for some extra new clothes. Went to two breweries. Dogfish head and hammock. Kids really enjoyed the hammock as well as the adults :-)

Downfall when working on a spend and places only take cash :-(

The 80k are pending. We will be using virgin to get tickets for a United/Ana flight. We wanted to go may 12 but plane tickets are getting scarce.

August 25
So when you adjust your statement date...you really adjust your PAYMENT date. My payment date is Sept 4th on our CIP and our statement closed on August 10th.

IF I'm correct, and that logic holds...your statement should close on August 16th (with a new pmt date of 9/10) AND your points should be available to use on 8/17... I could be wrong, but that's how I'm seeing things for you. Hopefully it works out that way!

See if they can PC this to a Blue Cash Preferred or something? BCP would earn 6% cash back on groceries making it a pretty awesome category bonus to hit-up.

Is it possible to sell e-gift cards somewhere online? I have a $75 AA card that I bought with the airline credit on the BofA premium rewards, and we don't really have a use for it in the near future.

But that $450 AF tho.

I panicked and decided I needed Centurion access at SEA so after all morning at work (thank the labor gods its a slow day today) trying to pull a 100k on Carmatch I decided to go to with the Ameriprise and hope for an auto approval and instant card number I could screen shot.

I entered DH's social on MY application :badpc:

I'm loving the Walgreens offer. It's tracked 100% of the time. We have three accounts I'm doing it on. Even though the exclusions say no more than three times with a merchant per month, I've still got the offer even though I've done it three times. May try again .

Good to know. I have just started with the RMN based on comments on here. I didn't realize that you had to reactivate each time. I thought it was good for 3x at each merchant. At least I am only out $5!

The platinum cards have the edge for me since they include every year on the card anniversary the companion certificate. You buy one ticket and basically get the other one free (still have to pay taxes). For me that easily offsets the annual fee.

I did not know this. Thank you!!

Is that $1174 for all of you or just one ticket (don't laugh...cross country can be expensive on Delta!)?

LOL! That's for 3 tickets economy!! We live a hub so our only other reasonable choices are Frontier or Spirit. Blah. I just keyed in the dates and buying with miles.

I'm not sure the OP is even aware of what URs are yet and how they work...but we're certainly going to educate them :D
Nope I don't have a clue what you're talking about.:rolleyes1

A CSR/CSP double dip would cover your tickets fully (that requires $8,000 in MSR - minimum spend requirement - in 3 months)
I don't know what CSR/CSP mean?:flower:This thread needs a sticky at the top to break down these things down for us newbies!!

I know we have some Delta hostages here and Delta can be feast or famine. @danjoealexis3006 what airport(s) are you likely to fly out of and in to?
We would fly out of Detroit and into Orlando. I have crossed looked at other airports but the other airport flies out of Flint and into Sanford.
