I love credit cards so much!

I saw a DP on DoC that the multi-tab trick worked on co-branded cards (Delta and Hilton in this person's case) but not the full AMEX ones, i.e. the offers showed up as added on the co-brands and not on the full AMEX ones. I only have BCP and SPG, and picked the SPG first so I can't verify.

Do you have an estimated timeline on when co-branded AMEX would arrive? I am thisclose to going forward with AMEX Hilton (not biz) for DH to use for our upcoming road trip. I would need it by next week though before we leave. Is this possible?

Sorry, it's been a few months since I received my last co-branded Amex. It could come in a week but then again...it could take longer. Sorry I'm no help!

Oh, Amex, how I love you and hate you. You let some things like self-referral slide, but throw your IT against Amex Offers.:furious:

As someone who just self referred for the Amex Green Biz (because, why not?) I hear you! Gotta weigh the 100,000 ( 2 self referrals plus 50,000 bonus plus 5,000 MSR-BGR plus 5,010 bonus plus purchase for green) against the juggling of multiple offers...it would take me a lot of offers to compensate for that many MRs so I'll stay quiet.

Interesting. I remember this came up a bit when the Best Buy offers came out, and I added them to SPG personal and biz on my account, and SPG personal/biz/employee card on DHs accounts and they're all still there. Maybe this was the issue last time too?

I just checked too, and although I "added" the Staples offer to BCP+AU, and SPG+AU, it was only added to the first one card I selected. Bummer, this was one of the best features of having multiple AMEXs!

I suspect the cancellation rate for cards with AF's just increased :D
I recall many discussions where using the offers paid over and above the AF so people just stuck it out. Having to pick and choose now may tilt that scale now.

No SW fare credit for me!

I had booked a Friday flight for our Sept trip, and changed it 3 times as it dropped in points. Then several weeks back we started kicking around going on Thursday, so I booked that too just in case. That's for sure now, so I was trying to cancel Friday's flight and that was the now non-refundable taxes/fees.

I realized that our flight to Nashville in Nov has not been changed yet, and is the same price right now, so I cancelled the Nashvile flight and got the fees refunded, and was able to change the MCO flight to Nashville :thumbsup2

each premium card has their own little perk.
American Express Plat has the best benefits in lounge access and status. it gives you priority pass, their own centurion lounges, and i think delta lounges. they also give u gold status at Starriott hotels.
Citibank prestige benefits comes with their 4th night on hotels. They also have the better insurance imo, ie price protection. I think they recently brought the trip delay to 6 hours which matches the CSR.
Chase Sapphire Reserve gives a generous 3x on dining and travel. This card can be paired up with a bunch of other cards earning the same point system. this will quickly build up your points for big redemption. we call this the trifecta(or quadfecta if ur okay with business cards... some of us even have 5fecta)

It is a tough choice since they all have their merits!

I don't use Uber that frequently so the Amex Uber credit may not benefit me the most in the aspect, but I did like the gold status for Hilton and Starwood/Marriott.
I liked that the Presitge offered 2x on entertainment and I have decent interactions with Citi in the past.
I only hear wonderful things about both Sapphire cards so I was intrigued. Forgive me if this is naive, but can I apply for a business card without a business? How would the pairing work?

Welcome....is there a particular airline you usually fly ? If so you could look into opening up an airline card....or checking which program Chase UR or AX MR transfers points 1-1 to that airline

I usually go SW or JetBlue. I love SWs flexibility, but sometimes I do not have direct flights from my airport so it is probably a 50/50 split. I foolishly did not take advantage of the past SW 100,000 RR promo. I had looked at the JetBlue Plus card for its free checked bags. I would have easily made the fee back in one, one-way trip!

I believe I saw Chase Sapphire was partners with SW and Citi Prestige was partners with JetBlue. It made the decision even harder haha

On the waitlist for DVC: Having the Disney Visa may be a good thing. You could put your down payment on it and get no interest for a while, I believe. Which resort are you waitlisted for?

I've been DVC since 2000.

I opened the Disney Premier Visa in Jan 2016 and dropped it down to the basic Rewards Visa before the $49 renewal since I was not going to make it back with the 2%. The 6 month no interest financing is very tempting to use. I was hoping to spread the initial cost across multiple cards to maximize a bonus or reward.

I am waitlisted for VGF so it could take some time. The guide did seem hopeful though!

DH got the Marriott personal last summer so I think we should go ahead and get him a SPG card before 8/26. I think he will not go for SPG biz, but should be OK with the personal. He is now 3/24 but his CSR will drop off in October and we have no current plans other than SW hoping for December for that. If I understand correctly I can still get the SPG personal after this month? I only have SPG biz right now. All those restrictions and I keep getting confused about them.

ETA I guess I need to worry about when this card goes away if I also want one. Do we know when they think it will go away?

Yes, you can get the personal after this month according to the charts. The AmEx personal card is supposed to close for new applications when the programs finalize the merge early next year since Chase is contracted to service that card type. In essence the SPG personal will go away at that point. Don't have a date yet, though; Stariott's keeping it "early 2019" for those changes last I saw.

Seriously. I was thinking the same thing on my way out this morning. The fact that I seemed to get my best Amex Offers on the PRG and it was another card I could add offers to was a major part in deciding to keep that card.

It will come in time. I love the villas there! I have stayed for 2 short trips of 3 nights and had a corner studio facing the lake both times. Just beautiful! If it wasn't so pricey I might stay more often but my 400 points just go much farther at BWV. So its a treat once in a while.

I would stay on the list for a small amount of points to get the benefits of direct purchase, but maybe also look into resale to get maybe more of what I wanted faster. I guess depends how many points you are also looking to buy.

Used the multi-browser/multi-tab trick. I just checked and sure enough the Staples offer is not in my PRG and SPG added offers.

I had the offer on my log in this morning and grabbed it. Forgot about trying to do it all at once (it was early and I'm tired). I called DH and he was able to still add it to his card and also to DD's. And it still looks like I have it. Does that mean we can grab 3 Disney gift cards and get the $15 back? (no tricks used here, just straightforward logging in and adding them to the cards).

Yep, you should be good! :)

The problem we all see is that a single person can't get multiple offers now. You've got 3 different people, even though they're all on the same card. I have 2 cards just for myself and what happens is if I add the same offer to each completely different card, it'll only stick to the first one I clicked - even if done at the same time.

It's early, there may still be work arounds, but AmEx IT seems to be stepping up their game

Since it's pouring here in sunny Florida I'm on the computer more than usual.

So...my DP of 1 here:

I added an offer to Amex Delta Biz---disappeared from other Biz cards (*note totally separate logins).
Ditto for SPG biz and Plat biz. However, did not disappear from personal AUs and one did not disappear from my personal offers.

Interestingly, added offer to DH's AU on platinum...it did not disappear from other AU's nor my personal cards nor biz.
Added offer to DM's AU on platinum it DID disappear from all other cards except biz.
Added offer to DD's AU platinum-did NOT disappear from other AUs nor my personal offers.
Added offer to DD's AU EDP-DID disappear from other AUs and my personal.

:confused3

I guess going forth if there's a great offer I'll try adding it to DD or DH's platinum and/or my business and hope to login in my personal and get it again.

So just to keep this straight. DH has the Marriott personal only, not into biz cards. You have the SPG Biz only, no SPG personal or Marriotts.

1. You have a small window to get whatever cards you want or need before the new rules go in effect on 8/26.

2. The SPG personal’s offer right now is 75k Marriott points after $3k MSR in 3 months. That’s the same points and MSR offer as the Marriott Premier+, but the SPG personal waives the first year AF, making the SPG a better deal.

3. Prior rumors suggest Amex will continue issuing SPG personal cards until the Marriott/SPG/Ritz brands are fully merged early next year, then Chase will issue the consumer (the no fee card) and premium consumer (Premier+) cards, and Amex will issue the super premium consumer (Luxury) and small biz cards.

That means sometime next year, Amex will discontinue new applications for the SPG personal and Chase will stop taking applications for the Marriott Biz+.

4. Until then, you can still sign up for the SPG personal. But DoC thinks it might be worth waiting for a better offer, like 100k Marriott points, since the current offer is 75k Marriott points (which is comparable to the old, regular 25k Starpoints offer). However, there are two reasons you may not want to wait: (1) after 8/26, the new restrictions kick in, so I think your DH might be disqualified from the SPG personal because of the Marriott; and (2) a higher points offer like 100k Marriott points could (or not) mean the AF is not waived (if AF is not waived, is the extra 25k points worth $95?).

5. How much spend can you fit in the next 3-4 months?, because DH could get the SPG personal, and you could get the SPG personal and Marriott Biz or Premier+ before 8/26.

Oh, ok. This stuff's complicated! There are also times when only one or two of get certain offers. I guess they aren't going to make this easy.

New Amex Offer at Staples, Spend $25 or more, get $5 back

Get a one-time $5 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to make a single purchase of $25 or more in-store at Staples by 8/31/2018.

Expires
8/31/2018

I got this on our personal cards (MB Plat, PRG, PRG AU, SPG), nothing on my business cards. Yay! Another 20% off towards our next Disney trip. (Staples sells all kinds of other third-party gift cards too.)

Remember, if you have only one online login, use the multi-tab trick for all cards on that account to add the offers or else when you add it on one card the offer will disappear from all the other cards.

If you have multiple logins, open each login in different browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Opera, etc.), then use the multi-tab trick for each login in each browser so you can view the offers on all your cards at once, then add. A few weeks ago, it looked like if you added an Amex Offer on one card, that would remove that offer from all other cards associated with you even if those cards were set up in different accounts.

Act fast. Amex Offers usually have an enrollment limit, and good offers like these (to places where you can buy gift cards) fill up fast.

Per @gottalovepluto : Reports on a DoC the multi-tab trick isn’t working and for those who get it to work the offer then disappears on all cards but the first card for SSN. Make sure you put the offer on the card you most want it on FIRST just in case these are true. I haven’t had time to add myself yet, just throwing out a heads up.

I did the multi-browser/multi-tab trick, added the offer to my MB Plat, PRG, and SPG, and sure enough it's only added on my MB Plat.

I saw this new offer this morning! Also, FYI, I also had an offer for 2x MR at Staples, so I also added that. I assume it will stack the same way the recent Amazon offers stacked. By the way, I have separate logins for my plat and the AU plat cards for each of my kids. I was able to add both offers serially to each card this morning just by logging in and out one at a time. I did not have to use different browsers or incognito windows or anything.

Hmm, so I got my denial letter from my Marriott Biz (that I accidentally applied for-lol). "Too many recent requests for credit from us" or something similar. But they approved the Marriott Personal that I applied for 45 minutes later :confused3. My last Chase cards are the CSR in November and an Ink in May. Really I don't care because I only needed a Marriott card to get me the 75k points--I didn't care which one it ended up being. It just seems odd.

Hi guys,

I am crazy to try and go for the CIP? I am 5/24 but the last one is not in my credit report yet. So I am not sure if I should try to sneak in before that?! But I am afraid to hit Chase too hard.

My cards for the last 24
Aug2017 - Capital One quicksilver
Oct2017 - Chase Slate (changed to CFU)
14May2018- double dipped CSR and CSP
Jul2018- Discover Miles( will be used to pay for my Master classes that will be reimbursed by work)

Maybe I should just chill and get and Amex?

You’re a little over 2 months from a double dip, so it’s a bit risky, but I don’t know when your Discover will report to your credit reports and put you at 5/24, which would shut you out of the CIP until, it looks like, 8/2019, so you can’t really wait. You could take the risk and go for the CIP now, and since the Discover will eventually put you over 5/24, you’ll be on a forced timeout from Chase anyway. I think a lot of the shutdowns happen after someone is over 5/24 and comes back for a Chase honeytrap.

Does a store card like John Deere have any bearing on the Chase 5/24 rule and the game we play? I've never been one for store cards but the tractor just crapped the bed and Deere has some good offers.

It could if it’s issued by a bank. The Target REDcard credit card counts against 5/24 and shows up on my credit reports as issued by TD Bank.
