I love credit cards so much!

Yeah, pretty sure that goes into your "travel bank" and you can use it next time you book. Make sure you note the confirmation number its associated with - you will need that and the name of the traveler (has to be the same traveler name) and you will be able to apply the funds to a future reservation (within a year, I think). Not the easiest system, but at least you can cancel and rebook.
I just canceled something a couple of weeks ago and got my taxes back on the cc(points booking)

Did you do a change/rebook (vs cancel/rebook) and thus, made the flight non-refundable? That would be the only reason I can think of that converted the dropdown with a refund option to strictly travel funds?

This has been my experience as well

DH got the Marriott personal last summer so I think we should go ahead and get him a SPG card before 8/26. I think he will not go for SPG biz, but should be OK with the personal. He is now 3/24 but his CSR will drop off in October and we have no current plans other than SW hoping for December for that. If I understand correctly I can still get the SPG personal after this month? I only have SPG biz right now. All those restrictions and I keep getting confused about them.

ETA I guess I need to worry about when this card goes away if I also want one. Do we know when they think it will go away?

So I just quoted everybody who was replying... but yes, it is because I used the change reservation option when the flight dropped in points. I will go back to cancelling and rebooking now when that happens!

Huh. I've never seen that option - maybe I wasn't paying close enough attention! Now I'm grumpy too - could have not had to deal with travel bank silliness a few times.:crazy2:

I think southwest changed it in the past year or so. You used to be able to get the $5.60 refunded but now the only option is hold for future use.

That option has always been there for me...the option was not there once when I made a change to the reservation when the points when down...lession learned...if the points go down I cancel the reservation and rebook.

Reports on a DoC the multi-tab trick isn’t working and for those who get it to work the offer then disappears on all cards but the first card for SSN. Make sure you put the offer on the card you most want it on FIRST just in case these are true. I haven’t had time to add myself yet, just throwing out a heads up.

Used the multi-browser/multi-tab trick. I just checked and sure enough the Staples offer is not in my PRG and SPG added offers.

Oh, Amex, how I love you and hate you. You let some things like self-referral slide, but throw your IT against Amex Offers.:furious:

The 100K biz spg offer ends 10/31.

Yeah I wonder if that means maybe the personal one too? If so, that works for me, I'm afraid it'll get pulled right before I want it :)
I've got the SPG Biz, I'm glad I hopped on it in March when it was at 35k, even with the higher spend needed. So now I'm looking at the personals. Had been hoping for a 100k personal, but 75k with a waived AF isn't bad either. I know if I go SPG it's the AmEx lifetime language, but in 2 years I think I can jump ship to Marriott (or whatever they'll be called then) personal since that's what Chase will be issuing post merger.

All with the general proviso that nothing changes in 2 years  I'm not sure how many changes I've made to "the plan" just in the last 6 months!

I think the orgizer gets the 10 elite nights. I was reading up on it last night. If I can find a room for $50 I think I might do it. Easier than trying to squeeze in the last 5 nights I need to earn platinum.

That's how I feel about it!

Which card?

I got it on my spg personal and on an Optima (old) MR card.

LOL, the meeting is definitely better than spend for the rest of the nights :)

$200 in statement credits aren't bad in exchange for the nights. All about perspective.

I think so! Except I was planning on going round to the Town Place Suites, but they don't participate. Now I'll have to travel 10 minutes to the next town

Argh, so no multi browser either?
Darn, maybe I will use that Starbucks offer on both cards before it expires today, just cuz I can. I went yesterday on the SPG to hopefully get the better earn rate and was just going to let it slide on the ED cuz hubby only orders when he's desperate (and I'm too cheap to pay those prices for an iced tea or something. I don't do coffee) But out of spite I feel the need to use all the double offers that I have.

One of my offers is gone also. I added offers to my spg card first and it is there, but the MR card which already had a 2x offer is gone. Slick! I wonder if the separate browser tab is still working?

Same, I just had to cancel one about 2 weeks ago. I did have to do it over the phone since I had booked everyone together and only one is no longer joining us.

So I just quoted everybody who was replying... but yes, it is because I used the change reservation option when the flight dropped in points. I will go back to cancelling and rebooking now when that happens!
Ahh, good to know. Always cancel and rebook, don't just change. I screwed up anyway by booking the entire round trip for all of us as one booking at the beginning. For our trip only our return flight has dropped, all other flights have gone up.

As long as you haven’t changed or rebooked those flights the $5.60 is still refundable. Once you change or rebook they become non refundable. If potentially getting the $5.60 back is important then you always want to cancel and rebook vs change.

I am feeling just like you! I really don't want to spend $70 on Starbucks today, but we will use it at Disney because that's where I buy Starbucks coffee and sometimes other stuff, so any little discount is nice.

Just for clarity too - this is a fairly new change that occurred when SW updated their system.

(Fairly new as in May of 2017...lol...didn’t realize it had been that long).

It was good while it lasted...sigh. :sad1:

I just checked too, and although I "added" the Staples offer to BCP+AU, and SPG+AU, it was only added to the first one card I selected. Bummer, this was one of the best features of having multiple AMEXs!

Well look at that, I always modify/change so that makes sense. I'll know for the future, thanks!

I've got the SPG Biz, I'm glad I hopped on it in March when it was at 35k, even with the higher spend needed. So now I'm looking at the personals. I didn't look at the SPG personal this morning, but 10/31 was there for the biz.

Actually, making the 5K spend on amex would have been very difficult for me. I just don't have that much spend right now, and I don't want to spend on stuff I don't really need (other than vacations!). I did contact them regarding the offer but don't expect any results. I'm actually now hoping for no results as I don't want to tackle that spend. Daughter says 'I can help' but she's in the middle of several spends (Ritz card, Hilton card) and it gets more complicated than I need it to be.

The $200 credit covers at least a third of the new bonus, based on what I would use it for, so no biggie - spending an extra $4k to get $400 in value is what it would boil down to. I'm more upset that I can't get multiple amex offers to stick!!!

The one bright spot is with the new rules, I've got all the cards except lux and I'm only locked out of lux for 23 more months, lol!
