I love credit cards so much!

Not sure if the is the correct place to ask this question or not. We are currently using our Disney Visa to collect points. We are going to change up how we use our credit card vs debit card so that we can earn as many points as possible. But in thinking about the card rewards, I believe you only earn $1 per every $100 spent on the Disney card. Does anyone use any different cards that may give a better rate of rewards that you can use for a Disney trip?

Oh boy...we are about to change your world :D :D :D

Verizon increased my phone bill recently so I’m switching to T-Mobile. We have to finish paying off SO’s phone before the switch. I’m excited for the T-MOBILE Tuesday deals too. lol

DW and I have AT&T's grandfathered unlimited data plan for our iPhones, but AT&T's been increasing the price on the plan every few months recently. We've thought about switching to T-Mobile -- how are their data plans?

We'll be switching from ATT to Tmobile this week as well. I just paid off my daughter's phone last night (well, my credit card her cash), waiting to get it unlocked. Four lines with 3 phones financed on ATT is more than 6 lines and 4 financed phones on Tmobile's military plan, and I'll be back to unlimited data.

We switched last year and have had zero problems since we did. We're on the TMobile ONE plan and pay $120 for two lines (no extra taxes and fees!! It's literally $120) and have unlimited data/text/calls. They also include Netflix on 2 lines or more, so we canceled our subscription. My GF can also call her family in Mexico since it includes calls for both there and Canada. T Mobile Tuesdays are also awesome as I have a Dunkin Doughnuts right across the street from my job!

I was on ATT before and will be never looking back.

I did. I sent them originally pretty early Sunday morning (because I was at work at 3am) and then sent them again a few hours ago. I'm hoping they missed the emails due to the times...

It's so frustrating because I sold several things last summer and had zero issues.

I have been cleaning out some old stuff and have had the same issues...also I am not getting feedback from anyone but have been sending it out to them. Someone took like 6 days to pay after I had said something twice. Ugh :sail:

So with all your talk on the AMEX Platinum now I have a FOMO (like Disneygirl). Trying to figure out how to meet $10,000 spend. (have not gotten into MSing). Then I had an epiphany.... My brother owns his own contracting company. So, I use Plastiq to send him a check for "remodeling" and then he gives me the $ back... I think that would work. I just texted him to see if he would be up for that. He already thinks I am always scamming things....

Dumb question but could HE just use it (for whatever) then pay you back? It wouldn't be a scam then (and no plastiq fee!).

You are correct, the no fee Disney is just 1% on everything charged to the card; unless they do a promo that gives you bonus. At minimum there are a few cashback cards that give you 1.5 - 2% back on everything charged to the card, so right away you're ahead there. Then there's other travel cards that earn points or miles that generally get even better returns that can be used for Disney.

Unfortunately there's not a magic card to point to and say "get this one!" :) Although the Chase Sapphire Reserve is pretty close for most folks here. If you give us a little bit of your travel goals, and when you plan to take the Disney trip we can help guide you to one or more good cards to get you there. If you like to stay onsite the Chase Ultimate Rewards (UR) cards may be helpful since you can book and pay for packages, rooms or even just tickets with those points. If you don't mind offsite then specific hotel cards could help which will free up money for the actual Disney purchases. Several "off site" hotels are actually on Disney property and get Disney perks like the Swan and Dolphin.

Welcome aboard :)

So in general - our discussion here revolves around signing up for multiple cards a year to offset a large portion (or all) of our annual travel expenses. Instead of worrying about the everyday 1-2% you get back...we move from signup bonus to signup bonus earning 15-40% back! Before we start giving a ton of advice it’s probably worth asking...Are you willing to sign up for 4-5 cards a year (or more) to greatly bump up your Disney earnings?

I'll let the experts weigh in but in short...yes.

First, what do you anticipate your travel for Disney to include? Flights might lead you to co-branded credit cards; packages/dining/rooms might be better paid for with a general point generating card (Chase Sapphire Preferred and/or Reserve is the most often discussed here); tickets are their own animal.

Since one size doesn't fit all, I'd recommend you list the cards you have, when you obtained them and your travel goals (Disney World or Disneyland?) and where you live/what airlines you fly/prefer. There are many experienced people with a lot of good advice.

Oh, and welcome:wave2:

Omg that’s a long time. I guess we just won’t cancel lol. Hopefully nothing comes up
My trip cancellation took a long time because i was using asian LCC which the insurance company apparently keeps calling the wrong number. On bigger airlines, they usually will pass a letter stating that you missed your flight and u were given no compensation as a result. this is something LCC would NOT do. hence why it took me almost 9 months of waiting to get them to approve it. Was def not a fun experience but most def YMMV.

Thought Visa Metas don't load on Venmo? I tried that before and card was rejected, unfor.
how long ago did u try this? a friend of mine tried it about 1-2 months ago and it worked out fine... :\

This is the perfect place to ask that question. You'll see many of us are trying to get the most rewards on our spending.

Do you have both a Disney debit card AND a Disney Visa credit card?

Dh and I will just have to make sure we are able to go. As of right now there isn’t anything that should be stopping us from going but you never know.

lol my family thinks the same about me. They think im crazy for applying for CC just to get the bonus or think because i use credit cards to pay for almost everything it will lead to debt. My parents make large purchases using their DEBIT CARD. Just last month they went to buy a new tv i saw the receipt on their kitchen table and asked mom how she paid for it and she said with her debit card. I said nooooo why? I have told my parents and siblings if they need to make a large purchase to call me give me the cash and i will drive down to the store or order it online for them.

Yep...I’ve found most buyers don’t leave feedback...I’m ok with that .... before I started doing mostly BIN with instant payment...I’d open an unpaid items case as soon as eBay allowed it...since it was either going to motivate the buyer to pay or I’d get my FVF back and could relist the item sooner.

Maybe 2-3 months ago? Are we talking about Metabank VGCs (from grocery stores)? It's the reason I have to take them to WM to liquidate (other than the 4 card limit). Card was registered and everything. MCGCs work, though.

ETA: saw on reddit that US Bank Metas might work on Venmo, but Metabank issued ones have given people errors (myself included).

Welcome..You are absolutely in the right place...I think others have mentioned listing any cards your applied for in the last 24 months...where you want to travel, airlines you use etc....you will get lots of great advice here

yeah. ill have to doublecheck again. i believe US banks are all MC, no Visas.
Friend of mine needed help draining his $50 meta so he sent another friend $50 and zelle back.

I tossed and turned all night thinking about the biz plat. As much as I want the MRs, I don’t think I want the stress of a 10k MSR. Amex are hard anyways but 10k is just a ridiculously high MSR for us, even if a visa. So, my fomo May get the better of me and I cave but gonna try to stay strong and resist!

Ack, I'll bombard you with one more post. Regarding your mention of using your debit over credit currently, I'd be remiss if it wasn't discussed that the key to this "game" is to ensure you don't over extend yourself and can always avoid interest and other fees that will eat into your rewards. (Annual Fees on cards can be an exception if budgeted properly) For some making the jump from debit to credit can throw off their spending style and accidently incur fees. We'll probably throw all kinds of tempting offers and probably multiple card roadmaps to the ultimate Disney trip (hopefully for free!) BUT know yourself and your comfort level and ability around getting and keeping credit.

You'll find many styles and advice from the folks on the thread, so if a suggestion isn't right for you don't feel like you're missing out by not going for it or you'll hurt feelings by declining it/disagreeing with it. There are many roads to Disney, we as a group probably walk all of them and still get there ok in the end. :)
