I love credit cards so much!

They updated the MR program T&C regarding MR > SPG conversion rates to align with the new program. The change for that goes into effect on 8/1, so starting then MR > SPG is 1:1 instead of 1000:333 (in 1k increments still). Unless they do something like hold the transfers until after the new program starts, seems like between 8/1 - 8/17 you can transfer 1:1 and then after 8/18 when your Starpoints balance converts to points they'd be multiplied by 3. Right now looks like if you time it right you'd get 1:3.

I've never transferred MR to partners, can anyone tell me how quick is it usually? Couple days? I don't have enough to match the 75k from getting the Marriott Plus but then again I wouldn't be paying a $95 fee either. :scratchin
Transfer from Amex to SPG is instant. I just did it on Monday - should have waited. Oh well, I only transferred 2,000.

I guess I haven’t had enough coffee, so please help me understand. DH got the 2 Marriott & SPG personal - all since Jan. He doesn’t qualify for any of the cards correct?

Looks like he won't qualify for any of the Amex SPGs because of the Marriotts.

He might qualify for the Marriotts 31 days after he cancels the SPG personal:

I'm okay with being in a holding pattern for getting new cards IF I know what the payoffs/outcome will be. Finishing up DD's Europe trip in 2019 is one and then Australia/NZ likely 2020 (or 21) is the second (hence the focus on MRs).

That said, really enjoying hearing about everyone else's approvals :)
Curious, why you are focusing on MR for Australia? We’re looking at a return trip t celebrate 20 years/my 50th/DS entering HS. We went for 2 weeks for our honeymoon and it was amazing!

That's what I thought... well, I guess "he" will apply for the SPG Biz tonight. The welcome bonus is lame - but at least he'll get the 5 elite nights before that goes away too.

I was thinking the same thing. Before 8/26, I still qualify for the Marriott Premier Plus, even though it's only 75k. My wife has no Marriott cards, so she can get the SPG Lux (rumored 125k) and still get the SPG personal (rumored 75k).

Getting the Marriott Premier Plus will put me at 5/24 until a card drops off in December 2018, and I'd be eligible for a CSR/CSP double dip in February 2019, but I kind of want to cancel the Marriott Biz when it hits a year in Feb/March 2019 and go for the CIU instead, which means I may have to put off a double dip if I want to space out my Chase apps. Getting the Marriott Premier Plus will add another $3k in MSR while we're still trying to finish the $5k on the Hilton Biz and $10k on my new Biz Plat.

We had been eyeing the CIU for DW in mid-August, but I don't yet know how to fit that in with the limited time SPG Lux offer and ~$15k of MSRs already. Seems like we can save the SPG Personal for later because getting the SPG Lux doesn't look like it'll disqualify DW from the SPG personal, and 75k seems like the standard base offer these days.

Yeah Premier Plus puts me at 5/24 as well. So pay $95 for 75k Marriott now or churn my SW Premier later this year (assuming a 50k+ offer comes out)? Decisions.

I'm bad at the churning part of this game, my SW AF hits in a few days. If I don't cancel within the 30 days for the full refund, I'll still get a pro-rated one later yes? Or is it like AmEx and I'm SOL?

That is a of info to digest!!!
I am still at LOL/24 until September I believe, or very late August, so Chase personals are out for me, so I couldn't jump on any of these anyway. But I have the SPG Biz, gotten early this year, so that prevents me from getting most of them anyway, if I am reading that correctly?? I haven't had a Marriott card in a few years, but that SPG biz is still fresh LOL.

YOLO!

Approved or pending?

Auto approved for $29k credit limit. One of the things that really annoys me about Chase - it appears part of their shutdown criteria may include too much credit extended. Then they turn around and give you a huge credit limit on new cards. I SM'ed to lower it right away though.

And it appears all links for the Ritz card are now dead, so I'm glad I did it when I did. Hope anyone else that was interested was able to grab it.

OK so need help what do I put for sw bus options for the three selections for selling items? Don’t want to screw up chance for approval for dh especially since he’s not keen on calling

I use the following for my eBay biz:

Retail: Books, Hobbies, Music, Sports, General, Nonstore Retail > Other Miscellaneous Store Retailers > All Other Misc Retailers -ex[cl.] Tobacco

Speaking of which, I need to go over my CLs if I'm thinking of applying for the Marriott Premier+ next month.

That would be awesome if it worked. Are you sure that it is MR > SPG at 1:1 though? I thought it was going to switch to MR > M(arriott)R 1:1 - I think it's possible that the MR > SPG disappears on 8/1. But now I'll be on the computer on 8/1 seeing if that MR > SPG transfer at 1:1 exists!

I'd suggest you stick to using a manageable number of portals that will earn you "currency" that you can use, whether that's Ultimate Rewards points, AA/UA/SW miles, or straight up cash, so that the rewards from your spending aren't diluted between more than half a dozen programs.

THIS. I often go with the highest payout amongst a handful of portals, but thinking I should reconsider and actually use a short list for the reasons you stated.

I don't need 2 Amex Platinums overlapping each other! The Platinums have a terrible base earn rate and its bonus categories aren't very useable to me. Like @Ngwira said above, that's why most of my actual spend goes to Chase. I pretty much only put MSR, Amex Offers, and big ticket items that need purchase protection and extended warranty on my Amex cards.

I think strategically, where this card fits in is, when my MB Plat comes up for renewal next April or May, it'll make it easy for me to cancel it because I'll have the Biz Plat, which will continue to offer me Centurion Lounge Access and Hilton/SPG/Marriott Gold status, while I get what I need to done with Chase, and then apply for the Charles Schwab Platinum later in the summer when I (maybe?) cancel the Biz Plat.

This will be me as well...if I try for the Biz Plat. Started on the path to accumulating MRs once I pulled the trigger on the Personal Plat in May (had a ED from college which I am thankful I opened since now I will never have to worry about having a card to keep MR points alive), and now will likely be opportunistic as well as I continue the quest to amass MRs before cashing out (maybe all maybe a portion) via the Schwab to cap things off. I actually do LOVE Amex with regards to their purchase protection. They make it incredibly painless and I've used the card despite a lower earn rate to utilize the benefit. Had a few things I had to make claims for and it was a breeze.

That's the really crazy thing, Chase made the Ritz better and now.. they're yanking it.

Yeah, MS is a possibility. I've never looked into it around here, it makes me uncomfortable. But I could likely open a PNC account for her. PNC denied me a while ago, but I have many more new bank accounts. I bet if we waited 30+ days from her last account, she'd be able to get it.

I hope.

I know @speedyfishy (NOVA) and @SBWB48 (MD) do a bit of MS around your area. I doubt they'd let a MSR get in the way of absolute certain FOMO.

MSing isn’t to bad if you are comfortable. Chase is also so easy with allowing bank funding. It’s tricky getting MOs in this area for me, but I found one Walmart that works. And no one cares if I get the giftcards with my name on them.

:wave2: Yes, MS can be uncomfortable at times, but I will say, it only gets easier once you'd figured out a routine. Mine has been which grocery stores give me the least amount of hassle (Harris Teeter, I heart you) and which WM can you find with the shortest line and cashiers that just want to go home. Fortunately, I have found my routine and in doing so, it has become less daunting (never was terrified, but more 'shy' I guess lol) and more tedious :rotfl:. I have thresholds in terms of whether it is worth my time and what the returns are (MSR, profit > $X); have slowed down considerably recently because the "juice wasn't worth the squeeze". But for an MSR like the Biz Plat, I'll be diving right back in again ;)

Welp, pulled the trigger. Will be trying PNC funding next month. If for some reason that doesn't work, I will have questions.

Congrats! I thought about it last night, pondered it this morning, and POOF, it was gone by the time I went back to it an hour ago. Not meant to be I guess...

Congratulations! Approval dance party!

It's scary how closely our plans align (previously mentioned during the Chase Biz card discussion). I'm thinking of the Biz Plat shortly (call after work lol) and likely squeezing in the Marriott Premier if possible, but need to assess my CP strategy since I was planning for it at the end of the year, but now with new restrictions, I may have freed up a slot...:scratchin

Other than the fact that I just got the Citi AA Biz and want the Hilton Biz as well...this is mapping out to be a  next few months. Didn't think I could top the $17K MSR from March, but $10K + $2.5K + $3K + $XYZ = :faint:

And here I was thinking I just wrapped up my CIC x2 and will just cruise with the AA Biz :rotfl2:

I wake up at 4:45 - I'm going to wake up a few minutes early to try to transfer all those points. I will have just enough points for 2 - packages. Fingers crossed.

So I delved into Plastiq today. Got my first statement for our new Mortgage Company. Company is J.G. Wentworth Home Lending. I just put down JG Wentworth under Business and put our account # down under Invoice #. Paid with CIP. Hope this works - that would be awesome. Do I keep checking the website to see when it goes through and do I send a check each month ( not EFT or ACH funding correct?)

You have a great mortgage name to easily get around the rule, yay! You should receive an email letting you know when it goes through. Unless you set up ACH with routing/account number it will be paid by check. Mine is always paid with a check.

If it goes through smoothly, you get a sent email. The processed email doesn't mean much. Once you get that sent email, go in and set up the payment as recurring, so it is automatic and less chance of being stopped in the future.

Coming out from lurking with a couple questions!

Any opinions on the Discover It card? My main cards are the CF, CFU, CSP, and AmEx Blue Cash, and I was considering the Discover It. It sounds like the CF but with cash back instead of URs. Is it worth it with the cards I already use?

For anyone that has it, does anyone know what credit bureau(s) they use when you apply?
