The offer I saw on our flight this past Sat was only for the Premier in flight. They were advertising the premium card but it wasn’t with any special offers. We’ll be back on SW on Sat evening so I can check again but it looked like the same offer as our June flights had.

Yes, that’s the recommendation to put at least 30 days before reapplying to prevent them just reopening your prior account.

crud, I thought this seemed too easy:headache:

Does transferring UR to marriott to buy a package ever make sense?

I could transfer 158k UR to top me off for a 120k SW/cat 1-5 package.
Well - let's do some math and analytics...YAY! haha!

So you currently have 112k Marriott points. And you have AT LEAST 158k URs that you're willing to transfer to Marriott. Let's pretend for a minute that nothing is changing with Marriott in a month...

You could transfer 120k URs DIRECTLY To Southwest and you'd have 120k SW RRs. You'd be left with 38k URs which you could transfer to Marriott and you'd have 150k Marriott points. 150k Marriott points is enough for 7 nights at a current category 5 hotel. BUT it's also not a 7 night certificate requiring you to stay 7 consecutive nights at a Marriott Cat 5 hotel. This is a CRAZY coincedence but you literally have the exact amount of points that makes EITHER option an IDENTICAL result (except for the whole 7 night cert. requiring 7 consecutive nights stayed).

EDIT: to state this in one clear summary: In either scenario above you end up with 120k RRs and 7 nights at a Cat 5. NOT doing it actually provides greater flexibility as you can just transfer your URs when (if) you need them.

Hopefully this makes sense - and if the numbers were different AT ALL the math result would be different. IF you had more than 112k Marriott points, it may start to argue that getting the certificate does make sense. If you had less than 112k Marriott points it would swing more in favor of NOT doing it.

How do you combine spg and Marriott points? The directions I see say log in to SPG account then click "Transfer Starpoints to Marriott Points". I do not see that button anywhere. I am 99% positive I linked the accounts. How would I know if I did or did not link them? You guys are giving me serous FOMO about the travel package, but I am not sure I even have enough points. Was not sure if they had to be moved in 000 increments. I have xx978 spg points and if I can not move those last 3 digits that might make the difference.

Oh wow....how interesting! More to ponder.

To show a scenario with different points...if somebody had 210k Marriott and was wondering if it made sense to transfer 60k URs...
Well they could do 7 nights at a cat 5 for 150k and they'd be left with 60k Marriott. 60k Marriott under the new system can be turned into 25k Southwest and they could transfer 60k URs to SW and end up with 5 nights and 85k SW RRs. So for this person...transferring and doing the package actually gets them 7 nights AND 120k SW RRs so it could make sense then.

The scenario presented with 112k Marriott was wild, lol! I did the math and I'm like...ummmm that's weird, there isn't a black/white answer...

Finally got our $89 refund for rebooking our WDW trip with the holiday discount. We now have a -$25 balance on DH's CIP. :yay:

Unrelated to churning:

Just trying to struggle through this work day before I leave for my horse show... It has been NUTS around my office so I'm glad I'm out of here for the next week. I've turned off work email to my phone and am going to tell my coworkers not to text me about anything :rotfl2:

I'm trying to figure out the discover acct page (still) I can see a purchase made, and an amount spent, directly under that # is a grey number...what is that? is that a running total of points accruing? it's a bit confusing and I can't find a spot elsewhere to see points earned for purchases, etc.

the grey number under the transaction amount is your running card balance. I don't know of anywhere on discover to see the cashback earned on an individual transaction like Chase. You can guestimate on the 5% calendar page where it gives your total earned to date on both category spend and regular spend, but it's not up to the minute as soon as a charge posts. It some times takes a day or two to update.

however I did just notice on the transaction details they put a picture of which card was used to make the purchase  so hubby can't say he didn't do it, I've got the proof right on the screen.

Where did you see that it ends 8/19? That may change some of my plans...

When you do the dummy booking and pull up the offer, it says it directly on the offer. Or at least, it did for me.

It's probably worth noting that there are numerous Hilton Biz offers circulating right now. The public and referral offers (which don't have a stmt credit or waived fee to my knowledge) show no exp. date. The current "Hot" offer with the $50 stmt credit AND waived AF that you can get thru dummy booking shows an exp. date of 8/19.

That's what I vaguely recall seeing when I tested the dummy booking myself. Then someone else mentioned it here, so it confirmed that my memory was right and 8/19 was the expiry on the dummy booking offer.

Soooo if my SW Biz now has a -$115.01 balance because they gave me the AF retention credit and reversed my late fee/interest... can I SM Chase and get that as a check?

For some reason I don't see me spending $115 on my SW Biz
When I end up with credits for reasons such as these, I choose to spend the money to $0 them out vs. asking for a check. I know it doesn't really make sense but in my mind I just like to avoid having the eyes on my account of "asking for a refund" vs. just spending a quick $115 to get my "money back". (And I certainly have no issue with anybody who prefers to call for the check, it's not "wrong" or anything...just not what I do :))

Checking in with AMEX on those missing starpoints.. from the beginning of April. Tomorrow is 5 weeks since I opened my case.

ETA: Oh, they want to tell me it's my tax charges :badpc:

Any word on what's going to happen with the SPG Biz bonus? I would love to get platinum status, if I get the SPG Biz before Aug. 1 I could get the additional 5 elite nights. But the bonus is so lame right now.

they should be coming back with points... the only reason it went to statement credit is because of the transition.
