yaaassss, SWRR are in my account for the N/F marriott package I purchased yesterday afternoon. Just over 24 hours. :worship: Of course, I am on the way out the door for hockey but excited to book flights later tonight!

In other news, spg transfer from DH is still not complete.:badpc:

:dancer:

After much debate, I decided to hold off on an AMEX Plat because of the fee, since I don't have a use in mind for the points yet. And I didn't want a personal for myself because I don't want to prolong 5/24, I couldn't pull any special AMEX offers on the other MR cards for DH, I wasn't sure about United/Marriott/etc for him, and I wasn't sure if it'd be pushing Chase to get him a CIC 2 months after CIP... So I got a Hilton Biz for myself  I figured at $3k it's just enough to keep me busy while I figure out the next card, and surely I can find a use for Hilton points. I even remembered to use a support link so I don't have to be shunned this time!

Thanks! I'll have to grab DH's CIC tomorrow and stop by on my way home from work. I've also never used Uber and it looks like there's a first time user $15 promo code right now too, so at least I'll get by fairly cheap on the long ride from LAX to the Hilton Anaheim.
Do you have an Amex? https://www.americanexpress.com/us/campaigns/uber/index.html Might be able to get $30 off instead.

ETA: lol jk, y'all are all over this already!

A note on the HSBC bank bonus ($350 version - $10k for 90 days, no direct deposit). There were all kinds of horror stories on DoC about how hard it was to get the account set up (lots of stories about codes only being sent by mail, additional identifying info required etc), but it actually went reasonably smoothly for me. They don't communicate well, but I saw the trial deposits in the bank I was funding from, and did a chat to figure out how to complete my app (my app was still listed as pending, but the trial deposits had already happened - seemed odd). So they sent me to the site I needed, and I was able to enter the trial deposit info. Shortly thereafter (like 5 mins) I got a text with a code and an email with another code that I was able to enter together and get my account fully set up - so like 24 hours from application to set up.

Whether I have issues getting the bonus remains to be seen, but the setup wasn't bad. I think you do have to park the money for at least 3 months, and there is something on the DoC website about a $25 penalty if you close it before 180 days, but I couldn't find the penalty provision in any of the screenshots I have.
Considering what others went through my hsbc opening last year was pretty easy, just slow. My irk was the bonus. After 8 weeks or whatever the wait was I messaged them about the bonus and they told me "it says APPROXIMATELY 8 weeks" bonus showed up like a week later. They're just a slimy bank, you can get a bonus out of them, it can just take extra work :)

:offtopic: Side hustle stuff- I had registered with a local focus group outfit MONTHS ago, but never got invited for anything. They finally got in touch and asked me to be in a focus group that pays $150 for 1 hour, and of that group 8 people will be chosen for a second hour and paid another $100. Not bad! Topic - something to do with banks! If they ask, I will definitely tell them that sign up bonuses totally work, and they should do more of them! :rolleyes1
But they only really get your attention if the bonus is like $300+....

I am sad. We are taking a break from new applications while reduce DH's Chase credit limits and I decide what card I want next (not Chase). So have just putting all extra spend on last gasp on using SPG cards. Just noticed DH's just closed today at over $3000 spend. In one month with no effort or focus whatsoever. Jeez. I want a bonus for that! Such a waste.

I also posting this because just noticed my message count was 666 and while not overly superstitious/religious I see no sense in letting that just remain since I noticed it and all. That is just good sense right?!?

Question on Citi cards:

I'm planning to go for the Citi AA business card before the 50,000 + $200 offer runs out next week. I was looking at the r/churning wiki and it says that if you get one bonus on a Citi card, you can't get a bonus on any other card in the same family for 24 months. So does that mean if I get the business, I cannot get the bonus for the personal if I apply later?

How exactly do you book with Disney then transfer to Chase? Do you just pay the deposit through Disney then call Chase with the confirmation numbers and tell them you want to transfer it to them and you pay the remaining balance with points? @speedyfishy I didn't know about transfers - I would just have done what you did with cashing out points and paying if Disney was less expensive than Chase.
I literally booked my vacation package with Disney, paid the 200 deposit, and then called Chase and asked them to transfer it so I could pay it with my UR points. You MUST transfer within 30 days from booking it with Disney. It was easy peesy, lol. I made sure I made any changes etc myself before I transferred it.

I don't think so. I did it the opposite order, I got the personal CitiAA in 3/17 and the CitiBizAA in 10/17 and got the bonuses for each card. I think the personal and business are considered separate families.

I was reading that you can use VS (Virgin Atlantic) miles on DL metal for TATL flights without the fuel surcharges that usually accompany VS redemptions on their own metal, and it costs fewer VS miles than Delta SkyMiles. So you can still use them to get to England.

I came across the article while looking into redemption options, but I was under the impression that international Delta flights were nothing to get excited about. I suppose I shouldn’t be too discerning...free is free after all.

Thanks! I wasn't sure if family was just considered AA cards in general or what.

I just applied for the Barclays AA biz for DH. I told him I was applying for a card for him and he said "wow how many cards do I have now?" I thought about it and realized he actually only had two (not including the couple he has from before churning). His application is under review, so we'll see if he ends up needing to verify his identity too.

Did anyone receive an email from BoA for sending out support links for the new checking account offer? It was targeted. Get $25/person they get a $150 checking account offer. If so can you post on our MISC thread there that you're willing and able to send links? We can use reddit PM for the necessary info for it. I'd love to hit up this offer so I can try to get in BoA's good graces for a cc later this year after I was hard denied their biz cc. I'll use the person on DoC if I have to but I'd love to use one of you :) DoC write-up https://www.doctorofcredit.com/bank-of-america-150-checking-bonus-25-per-referral/

I just called the Chase status line to check on my Marriott Premier Plus application from yesterday and after I put in my SSN, I was transferred to a person! :scared1: All she did was ask for my my SSN again and verify the address on the application, then told me it was still pending and it can take from 2 weeks up to 30 days for a decision, but it was still a bit unnerving. Has this happened to anyone else when calling the status line, or am I just “lucky?”
I had it happen when I was checking for someone else. Hung up that phone fast!
