I love credit cards so much!

I'll be the standout lone person who loves to drive  I've driven either five hours north or five hours south to every horse show I've had this year. DH and I were long distance for 6 years and drove two hours every other weekend to see each other. I'm actually excited for the 11 hours to Orlando lol.

Both my parents are truck drivers... maybe it's in my blood :car:

FYI it’s possible the swagbucks bonus is limited to once per day now. If you have a lot to buy, I’d spread them out as much as possible.

I feel the same way. Those extra 2-3 hours just seem like a lifetime.

Yep, we drove from Denver to north of San Diego over three days, averaging 5-6 hours a day. It was great and fun. On the way back, we drove it in two days, with each day 8-9 hours. I thought I would DIE. I could not wait to get out of the car! Those extra 3 hours a day were a killer!

I am a nervous flyer. I’ve flown more this last year (since you people made me get these credit cards - haha) than I have the rest of my life! I am trying to like flying but it’s not easy. My kids traveling this week and now I am nervous for them. My oldest DD went to Maine and flew on a tiny 8 seater. My younger DD on way to Thailand in a double decker. It’s not easy being a nervous mom.

Pick up those BoA Amtrak cards and ride the train in style. Actually no, don't do this. I do because I'm a crazy person but no one else should.

The wallet has banned me from Amtrak :p We did Amtrak from BOS to PHL after a repo cruise and after hubby has told me 'no' for long trips. He said if we couldn't fly I should rent a car. He's a driver but I kinda agree on that one. We'd have driven back in about 5ish hours but it took us 7 on the train plus whatever we waited for the train to depart. It's also why I can't get behind the train for Disney, it's like 24 hours on the train and we drive it in 18.

It works for some but not us :)

:crazy2:. I know many people who find that fun but that sounds like torture. I HATE the car, especially because I get carsick so easily. It would take me about 20 hours to drive to WDW, without stops. 2 hours and 50 minutes on a plane, thank you and see you when you get there!!

During the hurricane at Disney in Sept our flight got canceled. We scrambled to find new flights. There was ONE seat available. I took it with DD still under 2, and let DH drive to NC to catch a flight. Didn't feel bad either, I picked him up at our home airport the next day, lol.

Yep, it can get expensive. I board around 7:30PM and get to Orlando around 1PM the next day (assuming it's on time), which is... Not terrible.

The train was late once and we didn't board until almost midnight, and didn't make it to Orlando until almost 8PM. That was unpleasant.

We used to drive from VA to NJ multiple times a year growing up. I loved it! DH and I have done FL to VA a few times. The last time was a disaster though that resulted in his car spending a year in NC. We almost spent our honeymoon doing a cross country road trip to Disneyland, but it ended up being cheaper to do a Transatlantic cruise than a one way car rental.
We all just booked flights to NJ for next month so I guess my parents have finally tired of the drive after 30 years haha.

Exactly my dilemma. I'd rather have a stash of Alaska than VA, but it will be much easier for me to top off the VA for two J or F seats to Japan with UR. If that trip falls through for one reason or another, I don't know what I'll do with those VA miles.

We do go to England every few years, so I know I can use the miles if I had to, but the fuel surcharges are so ridiculous that I'd prefer to use them for a different airline, and that's where the possibilities slim way down compared to having a stockpile of Alaska miles.

I was reading that you can use VS (Virgin Atlantic) miles on DL metal for TATL flights without the fuel surcharges that usually accompany VS redemptions on their own metal, and it costs fewer VS miles than Delta SkyMiles. So you can still use them to get to England.

Is it bad I'm looking for cheap flights right now because I don't want to drive 8hrs each way for a 3 day weekend...?
Nope not at all! We just decided we are going to wdw next weekend Thursday-Sunday for after hours. Frontier just released a 50% off so our flight for two people will cost $200. The flight times are pretty bad but oh well. We will land at 10:46 pm and leave from mco at 7 am but we are just going to pull an all nighter when after hours is done. We live 19 hours away so no driving for us

I've taken the autotrain down to Florida twice. The first time the cars derailed pulling into the station and it took hours to get my car off. But they drove me to my College Program check in and gave me a voucher that covered most of my return trip so it wasn't too terrible!

We took the train from San Diego to Anaheim after our Panama Canal cruise and I loved it! The view of the ocean was fantastic.

I posted my experience over on our subreddit about using Raise as a seller. Would love to see DPs on what others have used. My handle is 0limits over there.

I've been watching your debate on the DAH thread :) I'm glad you get to go!

Credit Card Benefit FAIL - DH called me because he is applying to Global Entry for both of us. He goes through everything, then asks if he should pay for my application with my card or his. I say, oh, mine, you only get the benefit once per year. He puts in my CSR info. Then I realize - I have his CSR in my wallet. So I ask what card he used for his application - and he used his CSP!!!! So, we re paying for his global entry out of pocket and won't get reimbursed for it :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

When we did TSA precheck you didn't pay until you actually went in to get fingerprinted etc. Apparently you pay for Global Entry up front. If I had known that i I would have double checked what card he was going to use....

I pretty much always do stuff like applying for Global Entry, but DH was trying to help out. So irritated right now!

giftcards.com has a max of $500 per card. $1.99 per card to get shipped and $6.95 fee per card. They also have a shipping option with tracking that is like $7/8 so if you are getting five cards it makes sense to do it that way.

Giftcardmall has a $500 max per card too, but free shipping and a fee of $5.95. If they really code as 3x I’m going to stick with them.
And then do you take the gift cards to Walmart for a money order?

Just want to add to this - just saw that I can use mypoints to earn United Mileage Plus Points - 2500 miles = 6900mypoints (can also get 5000 miles - not sure how many mypoints).

I don’t know much about MyPoints. I only signed up for it this week since they have a promotion right now to earn 250 United miles for signing up and another 1,500 United miles for spending $50 in the next 30 days. But basically, it seems MyPoints is a shopping portal. So I’d need to see how their points earning and redemption value compare to MileagePlus Shopping directly for UA miles and other shopping portals for cash back or points.

Yeah, I'd rather fly :) Hubby likes to drive. It can be torture depending on how it's done. We've driven to FLL too which is about 21 hours for us. We decided to split that one up so we were only doing about 10 hours a day in the car... oddly enough that was worse and even hubby agreed we were NEVER to do that again.

I've agreed to compromise, if we're going somewhere for a week or more (preferably more) and it's within 20 hours I'll consider driving. Otherwise airfare is part of the budget.

Mypoints is a lot like Swagbucks. Surveys, polls, offers. Think they are both owned by same company.

I had DH sign up today but did the 1500 mile offer after a $25 spend. Didn't see the offer you mention until after.

I have not yet used the United shopping portal so don't know how it compares to my points.

Right now I am focusing on earning swagbucks to convert to disney $. But after that trip I will put my focus on mypoints for United Mileage Points.
