I love credit cards so much!

And then do you take the gift cards to Walmart for a money order?

Yeah or a grocery store. I stick to using Walmart with the Visa cards that have a huge giftcard written on them since Walmart doesn’t check, but the grocery stores look at these and see it has my name on it and I’m good to go. I hold the card so my one finger covers the small “gift” in the corner.

I'm optimistic that you'll get the CIP.

A lot of times I'll read recon stories that go like, "can you reconsider my application by not counting the AU cards?" "Nope." End of story. Whereas, in your case, divorce is a pretty darn good reason to disregard your ex's cards on which you happened to be a removed AU. I think sending your app up the chain is just a formality. Fingers crossed for you! And keep us updated!

DO NOT apply for another Chase card until you find out about the CIP. For approval, as a Chase business card, the CIP requires you have had no other Chase applications within the last 30 days. You wouldn't want to apply for another Chase card while the CIP is still pending, and risk another card application being the reason you were denied the CIP again. When you find out about the CIP, you can either (1) apply for another personal card (like the CSR or CSP, but not both) within 30 days of the date of your last Chase application. You can be approved for a Chase personal card as long as you have less than 2 Chase applications in the last 30 days (which would preclude a double dip because that would take you to 3 applications in the last 30 days). Or, (2) wait 30 days from the date of your last application to reapply for the CIP, or double dip the CSR+CSP.

Remember that the CSR and CSP are also subject to the 5/24 rule. So if you were denied the CIP because you were over 5/24 with those AUs, you'll likely be denied for the CSR and/or CSP because of 5/24 too, unless those AUs have been removed from your credit reports or aged past 24 months.
Womp, womp, I was denied the CIP for a second time. This time it stated "Insufficient business revenue" and "Business too new." I am fine with it, as I wasn't comfortable stretching the truth and it is what it is!

On to plan B.. I have been working on removing the AU cards from my credit report. Two were Chase, one was Citi. Chase said they could remove one quickly, but the other would take longer since the account was already closed. Citi is making me fax in a request to their credit dispute bureau so I am guessing that is going to take a little time too. Sure enough, checking my credit report now, I see that Chase has removed the 1, but the other is still there.

So that means I am currently at 5/24. I am torn on what to do. I really want to get into the Chase game ultimately, but my short term goal is also to earn Southwest flights for my Feb trip to Disney and was planning on meeting my MSR by booking my DVC rental this month and buying furniture for my house. I guess my options are look at a non-Chase card (Venture? AMEX?) or hope that these AU accounts disappear quickly and then go for the CSR? That is the card I want the most.. I don't know if I can commit to 10K for a double-dip without putting the DVC rental on there, which is out of the question for the reasons Lain outlined above (need to book within 30 days of my CIP application.) But I could maybe do the CU or CFU along with the CSR? And try for a business card in a few months when I have had more time to build my business?

What do you guys recommend? Thank you SO much for your advice. I would really be lost without you.

@DaveL, @speedyfishy @miztressuz should I be concerned? Two weeks ago I made the reservation with Disney. Yesterday I called Chase Cruise and Tours. Had to explain about 3 times that I wanted to transfer existing Disney reservation to Disney to pay with UR's. TA (not Melissa or Leon) said they could transfer the reservation to them but had to put me on an "extended hold" no less than 3 times to check. Then she said about the form. I said let me give you my email. She said "no I will just fill it out do I have permission to sign your name?" Then she said she would contact Disney and get back with me in a day or two. My experience sounds a little different than what you all experienced...
That was my experience, I didn’t have to sign any form.

You can submit your request to the credit bureaus, takes about an hour of your time. Takes a few days to get it removed.

if i'm applying for a new amex card, is there a reason to not login to fill my app out faster? or a reason to do this?

@Lain I just tried MPX app. Got error message and that my cc would be refunded in a few days. Hs that ever happened to you?

I was reading that you can use VS (Virgin Atlantic) miles on DL metal for TATL flights without the fuel surcharges that usually accompany VS redemptions on their own metal, and it costs fewer VS miles than Delta SkyMiles. So you can still use them to get to England.

I read through the article in the link. Interesting! So I am interested in a Delta route from SFO to Joberg, South Africa. I see the route on the Delta website. When I do a search on the Virgin Atlantic website, no Delta flights are listed, just Virgin Atlantic routes. I looked but don't see a button I should be ticking to search for partner flights. Does this mean that the Delta flights aren't bookable using Virgin Atlantic miles? Or do I need to call Virgin Atlantic?

need to call. heard great stories about Virgin Atlantic cs.

My Safeway gift cards from Amazon arrived just now. Ordered 2 days ago, in the morning. Delivery was supposed to be Mon, Jul 16- Fri, Jul 20 for free shipping. 2 days - that was quick!

And, we are about 12 and 1/2 hours away from Disney in Florida. I could do it in one day.
But then I would have to sleep/rest an extra day in Fl. So, 2 day trip with an overnight somewhere that I get a good night's sleep. When I get to Disney, I can go right into a park for dinner - usually Epcot cause we are usually at BW. That's the formula and I try to stick to it, although with the babies, they have their ideas. They want to get out of the car seats and of course we must stop for that, and then they must play before getting back in. They are going with me again in November and we'll see whether their Mom decides that flying back is easier! In January they all flew back because Mom and sister had to work.

I'm debating if I should have DH get the Capital one Venture card. One of the big draws would be the free Global Entry application. I've already applied for me (free on CSR) and the kids but he'll be applying in the next month. So we'd save 100 on the Global Entry plus we'd get $500 towards travel for a $3000 MS.

I'm pretty sure DH is at 1/24. He got the SPG AmEX in April and the Chase Ink Preferred in May. The CIP doesn't count towards the 5/24 right?

Is it too soon to have him apply for a new card? Am I being short sighted getting this particular card?

Nope not at all! We just decided we are going to wdw next weekend Thursday-Sunday for after hours. Frontier just released a 50% off so our flight for two people will cost $200. The flight times are pretty bad but oh well. We will land at 10:46 pm and leave from mco at 7 am but we are just going to pull an all nighter when after hours is done. We live 19 hours away so no driving for us

DD19 and I are doing the same but first weekend of august. We are doing Fri early am-Sun late pm though. Can't wait!

It's a decent value I think. The downside is many of us are denied that particular card for no one really knows why and they hard hit all 3 bureaus. No CIP doesn't count towards 5/24. Also, keep Barclay Arrival Plus in mind if the Venture doesn't work out. (Either/both would count towards your 5/24 status.)

FYI anyone doing Swagbucks and Best Buy, the 500 Swagbucks seems to only be good on one purchase a day now. 3 DPs on the gift card thread of people who only got credit for 1 of their purchases today.
