I love credit cards so much!

That's a good approach, and one that I try to do too, just to get a feel for what to expect. If other flights are shorter, is that because of a longer layover somewhere? If so, it might be nice to break up the long flight so you can stretch out and move before getting back on the plane. Does United allow you to put a ticket on hold? American Airlines has a 5 day hold that they offer without you paying for the ticket, I wonder if United has something like that. That fare seems remarkably low.
I looked at a couple of different months and they have quite a few days with the 35k miles offered. When I was looking at May I was seeing a 1-2 hr flight to Chicago, a 2 hr layover, and then the final flight to Japan. So we wouldn't get the nice layover after a long flight, but rather before the long flight lol

Feeling a bit bored with churning also (not quite @SouthFayetteFan level of bored) but after juggling 3 cards earlier this year, I only have one right now, and the MSR is *only* 3k. Pretty easy peasy, yk? Nothing to stress over, or get excited figuring out how I can meet it. SO, I've gotten obsessed with bank bonuses lol thanks to @gottalovepluto and @speedyfishy and all the others who post about them :) Kind of fun! I've opened Memory bank and Fidelity in the last couple of weeks. I now want to open Citywide (think might be CO only). Do I need to be careful how many of these I open so close together? I see references to the "chex" system. Am I going to get on their bad side for opening so many so close together?

Also...I need an Amex biz card to go after next :D I have a feeling I'll meet the CIC spend really fast...my dh has all these things he wants and I kept telling him he had to wait for me to get the new card. Well, it's here so let the spending begin...workout equip, new grill, yard stuff...I really want to buy an infrared sauna (good for my dd with Lyme)...so it won't be long and that MSR will be met.

I only have the Amex BGR and Delta biz. Dh has the SPG biz. Anyone have a suggestion? I'd love to collect more MR's but also would be interested in hotel rewards. Maybe start working on Hilton cards?

My CIP app took 3 days to change from 30 days to approval. Dh's took 1 day. I think @SouthFayetteFan said his dw's took 6 days. It just varies so try not to stress! I do call the automated line incessantly though :) Good luck!!! Hoping approval is right around the corner for you!

I think I was just expecting it because DH's only took 1 day lol. His credit is better than mine so mine may take a little longer. Thanks!

Not gonna catch up for a couple days :( but fwiw I threw caution to the wind when I started bank bonusing & no regrets. Chex reports are referenced sometimes in denials, I’ve been denied only a few accounts due to Chex (a couple of which everyone was denied because the banks never intended for a thousand applicants to hit in a day) but imho not enough to matter. Check your local offers first as smaller banks are more likely to be Chex sensitive then branch out and go to town. I’m at 30+ Chex inquiries currently from the last year & a half (like 6 of which are double hits from M&T days and 2 extra are from a baby bank who screwed up opening my HSA and literally doesn’t know how to remove the inquiries).

Where I live in CA no one is dumb enough to post a sign saying $$$ for opening a checking account- the line would be blocks long- so I ended up skipping that part but I always advise others to check just in case :) (I’m not exaggerating- I just got a mailer for a cooler for opening a local checking account and it’s the best local bank offer I’ve seen in a few years aside from the same bank’s $50 flyer-only offer for opening a biz account.) The banks that deny due to Chex always seem to be very sensitive, like 4-6 Chex inquiries ends in denial. If I can open just a couple accounts in place of that one odds are I’ve already made up that lost bonus.

My concern level about my Chex report inquiries = 0. This admittedly may be foolish but I’ve been happy since Oct 2016 with it.

I opened the Fidelity the day it was posted here. I got an email about finishing my account opening so I clicked on it and went back through all the info again. Well, now I have two of each account type at Fidelity. I did not fund the second account(s). Do I need to call them or just leave them there and open?

Thanks for your thoughts! Are you on a trip, or just super busy? Hope all is well.

i think my next card would be Amex Blue Business Plus card... either that or the Ameriprise card for the benefit, i think thats more me than u though.
Hilton cards do sound attracted too...

I think that Blue Biz was on my radar screen too. I'm gonna need somewhere to park my MR's once I close my BGR at the end of 2018. I am not familiar with the Ameriprise. Will look into that one. Thanks :)

I don't know what card you use for gas (probably Freedom this quarter, amirite?) but if gas isn't a category bonus on your cards, I reliably get 6% cash back on gas when I fill up at King Soopers (aka Loaf N Jug, or whatever your Kroger store is in your geographical location). I have a reloadable KS gift card* that I use my BCP to reload (getting 6% cash back and no fees to do this) and I use that gift card to pay for groceries and gas. Looking forward to redeeming fuel points tonight at $1off/gal, woohoo lol!

*DD's school gets 5% of the money I load on there, I had to get it directly from the school and not KS. I know you homeschool so this doesn't apply for you, but others might look into it for their public school.

Yes, Freedom this quarter but I typically use my Costco citi for 4% on gas. I gas up at Costco or King Soopers also :) What part of CO are you in? I'm in Littleton.

That is a great idea to buy a King Soopers GC at 6% back and use that for gas. Wish I had thought of it before PC'ing my card lol.

I do homeschool but we do a part-time program through Jeffco so we can do the reloadable GC thing too and give 5% back to our 'school'. I've done it before but I got lazy with it I guess and I've not done it in a long time.
