I love credit cards so much!

I'll have to revisit this...Now that I think about it, my Kroger account is in my name and I use my dh's KS login (we just use one so we both add and whoever goes by the store has everything loaded and we earn fuel points in one place)...Hmm, I bet that was the problem!
I had to dig out my card to give DH... I always type my number in but he still used his card tied to his moms account.
Weird Question, but would you stay at Swolphin over Pop? Me and the GF are planning to go in September, and have booked Pop with "magical" rates. My mother works for SPG and I have access to her benefits. I can get a room at the Swan for about $100 more (for the entire stay), but we are trying to go as cheap as possible as this a budget trip.

Is it that much of a difference?

I know we wouldn't have access to Magical Express at Swan, so we would have to Uber it to the resort (which is more $$)but we don't mind spending a bit more if it's that much better than a moderate hotel.
I'll throw another vote for swolphin, or even resort hopping! And we like Pop.... but for that close of price wed go for the convenience/location. Weve also hopped, last December we did the first night at Dolphin then switched to Pop, because Pop wasnt open and we got a cheap non refundable rate at Dolphin about a week out. And this September were doing a night at All Star Movies then switching to Dolphin. It's very easy to have them switch your bags for you. And if you are getting in late, you're really just looking for a bed to sleep in.

If you're only getting two day tickets, Disney direct might be the best price. I've been researching that for another trip, and that's what I've found. Unless Amex runs a $30 off Undercover Tourist offer, but if its September you probably want your tickets soon anyways. A thought would be maybe one night at pop with your tickets all for the magical rate, then switch to Swolphin with your moms discount. Best of both worlds!

Can't believe it was just yesterday that I said I had a bad feeling about the travel packages. Swolphin is taking a huge devaluation. I just priced a random week (6 nt) in August at the Swan for 2A/1C and got $1581 thru Starwood (nonrefundable rate) , and 94198 UR points (nonrefundable rate) thru my CSR UR portal, and 260,000 Marriott points using their chart. It's looking like UR points are the way to go in the case of Swolphin, and just using Marriott points for airline transfers like @Albort said from August on out.

Is there award availability on the site for August? Because shouldn't you be able to book using Starwood points at the present rate until August 1? That would be 60K starwood points (equal to 180K Marriott points). 5th night free under Spg @12K?? or what am I missing?

Colin from Plastiq found me!! I got the email and he is "keeping his calendar available to see if I quality for the Private Client Program". Unfortunately I think I'll be too busy to check in with him. I've only made one payment, though after it worked I did make it recurring.
I told Colin I will work with him when Eric leaves me alone! LOL!

The only place that has ever asked me for an id to match my credit card is the Disney Store and they ask every single time.

So weird, because Disney store is a hot bed of fraudulent activities what with all the easily shipped and expensive cameras and ipods…. oh wait  But now that you mention I do remember that I should change my answer, because I do occasionally get asked to match the signature and once was ID. But they were both a single store and the 2nd time I was buying Visa gift cards. I forgot about it cuz I was actually using my own cards :)

I guess that's like a 99% use rate where no problems using a different card name. Just don't buy large quantities of V/MC gift cards or shop at the Disney store and you're probably ok with replacement cards instead of AU's :teeth:

I posted yesterday that I removed DH as AU on my CSP and CF so that he can apply on his own and get the bonuses. I was going to also have these removed from his credit report, but I don't think I have to. After looking at them more closely, with these AUs he is 1/24 and will be 0/24 after July 17, 2018. He will spread these two new applications out over a period of a few months or more. Future cards for him include one of the Chase SW cards, but that probably won't be until late 2019 in order to try for the CP for 2020/21. Other than that he probably won't apply for ANY new cards as we churn slowly and he is a very reluctant player 2.

Anyone see any reason to go through the trouble of removing these AU's from his credit report? They will eventually show as "closed accounts" - correct? How long will it take for his credit report to update and show them as closed?

Yes, they posted the full hotel category list today as well:
https://points-redemption.marriott.com/category-change

Both swan and dolphin will be new Cat 6's for 50k a night come Aug 1. Right now they are currently 36k (12k SPG, really)
:scared1::eek::faint: I was afraid of this..... so my idea of buying 30k spg on sale right now..... this makes that purchase ....not really useful(?) or a good idea b/c the price is going UP next month....(?) any input? (prob a kneejerk reaction for me, this is the first year that I haven't had enough spg to cover a WDW stay whenever we wanted it,and feeling a little lost,I knw there are other hotel choices tho)

Ok so on Fidelity, I opened both accounts. Threw $200 in the investment one - to confirm I don't need to add $200 to the cash management, correct?

So all of us Swolphin fans can cry some more, I ran the math on my reservation in September.

For 6 nights at the Dolphin:
  • pre March @ 10kpts = 2.96cpp
  • March - July @ 12kpts = 2.47cpp
  • Aug @ 50kpts = 0.59cpp (x3 = 1.77cpp)
:sad::sad::sad:

Swan too, just for kicks:
  • pre March - July @ 12kpts = 3.39cpp
  • Aug @ 50kpts = 0.81cpp (x3 = 2.44cpp)
:charac2::scared::sad: darn! I was busy and missed all this yesterday....I have gotten my fam used to the easy luxuries of a swolphin vacation..... oh boy!:confused3:rotfl2:

No, you're right, it's just that there weren't any rooms available on points when I spot checked yesterday, or maybe I just missed them. You should be able to do that until Aug 1.

Correct, you could put it all in one account or split it between the two. They'll put the matching bonus into the same account(s) in 7 days. I put it all in one account as well.

Currently on the phone with Melissa at Cruise and Tour. Funny how I keep getting her without even asking. I saw room discounts released for our November stay and I decided to switch to Coronado Springs. I can get our first night discounted for $211 and the second night for $227 at the standard rate since we're traveling over a holiday weekend. I'm on hold right now while Melissa pulls up the rooms, but I should get about $89 back from my original booking at CBR. Never stayed at CSR so that will be nice! I know there is construction there, but it doesn't look as all consuming as the CBR construction does. I normally wouldn't want to stay at such a large resort, but since we'll be driving down and will have our car, I figure we can just park near our room and drive to TTC for MVMCP and to HS the next day. I booked our original trip before parking fees started, so we're squared away with that still even though I've changed my reservation twice now!

Happy Friday y'all! Quick question- I applied for my CIP on Tuesday. Called each morning since and its still "under review." I am getting antsy, ha! On average how long does it take for people to find out they were approved/denied?

And if I am denied, my plan B was a CSR. Can I immediately apply or do I need to wait? I'm getting a little antsy because ex-DH is going to be moving out in a few weeks and taking the furniture, plus my booking window for our DVC rental is approaching. I would hate to have to put any of this on my existing cards as it would really hamper my ability to meet the MSR without dipping too much into my savings.

So...bad idea or good? use dh and ds accts to buy 30k each on sale, and turn into a cat 6 nights and flights before end of July (with 50k RR points) to use at Swolphin..... advice? dumb idea? that means a 7 nitgh stay at swolphin would cost av.g 195 per night straight up,and the RR points are a bonus(?) edit to add to above.... I would transfer both of 'their' purchases into my acct.....

I just noticed that Discover has Hotels.com gift cards as a redmeption right now. $45 for $50 or $90 for $100. I've got $255 in cashback right now, so I might do that for the last $111 for our September stay at RPR... Not only would I be using that cashback to cover travel expenses (what I save it for anyways) but it's a slightly discounted use!

ETA: Though I'm stingy about using the cashback, in 4.5 years I've only redeemed a couple Alamo certs and 2 Landry's gift cards to use at Yak n Yeti  This will definitely make me want to get my last $22 for Q2!

Does anyone recall how long it usually takes their MDE to update after changing a reservation with a TA (or Chase)? I thought mine had changed instantly before, but it hasn't yet (I could just be impatient LOL). I still have the same reservation number, maybe if it's not updated by this afternoon I'll call Disney?
