I love credit cards so much!

Plastiq just flagged two of my car payments for review. I've got a copy of the regular statement (the most recent one is showing as already paid) and the payoff amount letter. Do you think one is better than the other or just send both?

Were the sum of the two payments more than the amount due on the regular statement? If so, maybe the letter with the payoff amount would be better evidence of the total debt you're trying to pay.

I hope it's okay that I re-post this. I got one response, but was hoping for a few more (no offense to the person who did respond - it actually seems like we have a lot in common :-)). Things seemed to move really fast this afternoon so assume maybe this just got "lost."

I think I’m marginally hooked! I’m feeling bad that I’m not working on a minimum spend requirement LOL. Call me foolish, but I’m not ready to delve into business cards. That said, from all my reading, it seems the Chase Sapphire Preferred might be the card for me. Here are the details:

I’m 4/24
SW card at 11 months
Mattress Firm at 9 months
JC Penney at 7 months
Another SW card that was opened April 3, 2018

One article I read says I may be denied if I’ve applied for a Chase card in the past 90 days, which I have.

Recently (2 weeks ish) lowered credit limits to be less than 50% of income.

Excellent credit scores (upper 700’s).

Credit Karma says I have very good approval odds.

Now, the other thing is that maybe I should have DH open the Sapphire. He’s 3/24, but all have been 7 or 8 months and “little” things (Wells Fargo for a furniture purchase, Fleet Farm and JC Penney). Credit Karma says his odds are “good.” I somewhat wonder if it’s because he has very few cards in his name with fairly young history.

The only thing with DH is I’m kind of waiting for the new SW card and may want to try to open that and the SW business card for him to get the companion pass.

I’m so terrified of making the wrong decision!

I appreciate any and all advice!

I think you'd be fine, in only my opinion :), if you're not going for the double dip the only thing it hurts if denied is a hard pull on possibly 2 credit reports. It would put you at 5/24 so you're out of the chase game until that first SW card drops off (assuming you don't get any more cards that report) so if that's the last one you want for yourself for a while then may as well. Probably couldn't hurt to wait until after 60 days at least since your last application. I think 90 is recommended but not necessary. I got approved for my CIC (business) a little over 30 days from my last application (personal) but I wouldn't recommend it!

If you decide later you want the other or like the CSP and just want another bonus, DH could try for it (either the CSR or using your referral the CSP) and then double dip his last spot for the CP (putting him at 6/24 and done for a while as well). CSP is supposedly more lenient than the CSR, which makes sense given the "class" they are trying to attract with each card. So if not sure DH would qualify for CSR, then another CSP bonus doesn't hurt. Or if there was another card you were looking for within or without of Chase then he's got one open spot for it.

Thank You!
Only one of my cats got VAS (cancer at injection site) from the rabies vaccine. Another poster here had 2 cats with it. My vet (at the time) told me the odds are 1 in 10 million. I believe that to be greatly underestimated bc in the 13 years since Max was diagnosed, I've spoken with so many people who had dogs or cats get this and I know I haven't spoken to anywhere close to 10 million pet owners!
My vet agrees with you that the estimation is way too low. He also shared our story with colleagues because he thinks we've shown there is a possible genetic predisposition to contracting cancer from the vaccine due to our mother and daughter both having it. We also had one of her sons, and he developed cancer as well. It wasn't determined to be from the vaccine, but I'm not so sure. This all happened in the past 2 years, and we lost a 4th cat in that time as well. It's been a devastating time for us.

I ended up sending both. The payment I made is much larger than the monthly payment since were paying it off.

I feel your pain.... After Max, we lost another to Congestive Heart Failure. That was two in the span of 2 months.
Our new vet and I were discussing VAS when I took one of our new kittens in. The vet had lost a cat to it. The tech in the room with us lost one to it as well. That was 3 out of 3 people gathered in that room that day. Each of us had a "1 in 10 million" cat? Ridiculously under estimated statistic.

I just don't get Chase. I get my "You're Approved! your card is on the way" email as expected 2 days AFTER I received my card and finally got the online account setup. That's old news now :p What I did a double take on is they sent it to the wrong email address!!
When I applied for and setup the account for the CIC I used my business email address. I know that for sure because I received confirmation of the application with the 30 days notice at that address. When I set up the online account I used it too (I just doubled checked, it's the only email address listed in my profile)
I got the approved email in my personal email that I use for all my other Chase accounts. I don't even know how to begin to get that fixed if it keeps happening!
I guess I should be grateful it's at least coming to me and not someone at random. But not getting the warm fuzzies from Chase IT either.

Thanks -- I'll consider 15% off my goal. Unfortunately I need the card in the next few days. I'll check Costco tomorrow; now that they accept Visa, I can get 2% cash back.

Are you not a fan of Raise? They typically deliver e giftcards like iTunes codes almost instanteously and between the discount and pp checkout with the CF, it’s ~10% off since you can’t be opportunistic given your current needs.

Actually those gift card resale sites don't like me -- last time I tried to order, it insisted my account could not be verified (I can't recall if this was raise or a similar one). Plus I have already maxed out the bonus category on my CF for this quarter (groceries is an easy category for me -- restaurants not so much, so I'm hoping the PP option continues next quarter).

I am surprised at the number of people who still use ITunes. I figured that was a thing of the past. It has been several years since any of my kids asked for some, which makes me mad the amount they have in their accounts and never use it anymore. On to new and better things which was Pandora and now is Spotify until the next must have music app comes along. I think I have some unused cards floating around here too.

I am an extreme resister of new technology! I like having music on my ipod for walks, and actually the current need for an itunes card is because I want to rent some movies to watch on my ipad during some upcoming travel.

I don't want to like these, but I appreciate you posting. Our cats are seven years old now and I have just blindly accepted whatever shots the vet wanted to give them (granted, it's been 2-3 years since they've been to the vet). I definitely will be asking more questions next time.

Hi peeps! First, I wanted to come over here before anywhere else to say thank you to all who posted on the ABd thread. I did not expect to wake up this morning and discover y’all were gonna make me cry. Crying out of only one eye is definitely weird so thanks for that novel experience. You guys know how much I love those. Please know that despite the initial scare of “holy smokes these are stroke symptoms, I teach about this everyday and it’s happening to me” I am relieved it’s only Bell’s Palsy. Adventures by Disney has my eternal gratitude for everything they did! I didn’t come all the way to Asia to have anything other than an amazing time so that is what I am doing!

In the spirit of silver linings and novel experiences: I am bound to lose weight that I gained on this trip because eating and drinking when one side of your face doesn’t work is too challenging and I’m too lazy to make any extra effort. I’m not as reticent to post selfies when my smile is crooked anymore. I now have a legitimate excuse to look like a pirate and wear an eye patch! This is fun. China airport security wasn’t as amused. To make this thread related: I used 15,000 BA Avios to book my flight from China to Tokyo today in business class. Real money pricing was over $700 per person. The lounge we are enjoying has food that comes from Jade de Jardin which is mainland China’s first Michelin star rated restaurant!

Oh, and Shanghai Disneyland’s Pirates of the Caribbean was EPIC!!!!

Love you guys!!! :grouphug: Peace out!

So, so, so happy you are ok!! Our pastor had Bell's palsy. Took awhile to go away so be very patient with yourself. I love that you have still managed to have a good time on your trip...would not have expected anything less from you...!

Getting annoyed with plastiq! I'm trying to pay the lawn service who fertilizes our yard. I paid him last month with plastiq using my CIP. I had him categorized under 'business services". Tried to use my Amex spg biz to pay for this month. Amex won't support that payment. Switched him to "utilities" and Amex won't support that either. Has something changed with Amex and their supported categories? Utilities were going through fine two weeks ago. Not sure what else to put him under.

ETA: "clubs" category isn't working either which is also supposedly supported by Amex.

@elgerber had that problem with AmEx and Plastiq "fixed" it somehow since the payment was supported (gov payment I think, taxes) when contacted. So maybe an actual glitch on the site and asking support will work?
