I love credit cards so much!

I set up a Chase bank account for the $300 bonus (which was super easy and I highly recommend!), but now I can't figure out how to add an external account. Every time I try to add one, it says "this part of our website isn't working" or something like that. Has anyone else encountered this? I really need to transfer some of that money into another account!
Chase has had a plethora of updates screwing up various aspects of their websites the last couple weeks. I would not be surprised if that feature works in a couple hours or tomorrow tbh. That said here are other ideas:
-Add the Chase account to the external bank. This way you “pull” the money from Chase using the other bank account
-download the Chase App and try to add the account from there
-write a check? In your Welcome to Chase packet is there a sheet with like 4 starter checks on one page? My biz account had them, I can’t remember if I got them on my personal account

Today's DPs? Could you explain. I'm waiting for DH's Starpoints to transfer to my account (taking forever) to purchase my Flight/hotel package. Are there problems being reported?

I'm also waiting for a SPG tfr to happen - don't suppose it helps with the holiday weekend. I'm kinda ready to go for the Cat 6 package, but think I am being driven by FOMO more than anything else right now.

So I'm trying to book my NCL cruise that I want to use UR points and I'm getting mixed info. First call the rep said I could book it with them using my future cruise deposit and then I could use my UR points later when I make my first payment. This matched what others on here said.
I called twice today to actually book it and got two different reps who said that if I book with them even using the future cruise certificate I have to use all the UR points I want to use today when they booked it. I asked what happens when I transfer a booking to them instead, would I then be able to use my UR points at payment and they said no, they'd need the points at the time of the transfer.
Which doesn't make sense because it's not like it's instant, it could be transferred to them and I'd not even know it until they told me. I told the last rep that I was confused because I knew other people that transferred Disney reservations after making the deposit with Disney and they didn't have to make payment at the time of transfer and they could use UR at final payment. So I asked if there was something different about Disney and he just said he'd never heard of that and it's been like this for as long as he knew.

I know a few folks have transferred reservations with Chase right now, but have anyone gotten to the final payment date and were you able to use UR points? I'm getting confused. Even if I get ahold of the first rep who said I could, I'm not sure who to believe - him or the others :confused3

While I haven’t done what you are trying to do, I can tell you after my Disney ticket debacle that every Chase agent will tell you a different story. Just Huca till you get the answer you want. If they tell you they can do it, chances are they actually can. The others just don’t know how. For some reason there is no uniform training here.

Agreed. I think they just really don’t know that transferring reservations in allows you to use UR at a different date, I suspect because there probably aren’t many people who transfer reservations in. I’m positive DaveL has done it though. There was a lot of discussion about on here several weeks ago because I remember also thinking it couldn’t be done.

Looks like @DaveL talked to Melissa at Cruise and Tour ext. 4179 and she was able to transfer his reservation. I'd try that.

Yeah, I'm gonna HUCA some more tomorrow and try a few more extensions mentioned before, thanks! Just trying to figure out who's got the correct info, the option I want to hear or the option I don't
If I can't use UR there's not much point in having Chase hold the ressie. If I do it through the discover TA at least I know I'll be getting X amount of cash back even if it's not as good as UR. Without being able to use UR towards travel for the bonus, aside from have lots of UR to use on it, getting the CSR was useless. But I wanted to book it before I get the UR in place, which will be in a few more weeks at least, just to hold the cabin I want. NCL is also a 30 day transfer window so it all gets tight now that I'm down to really 1 good cabin left in the section I want. (guess the $50 deposits worked, there were at least 3 a few weeks ago :) )

I hope so! I'd hate to find out 6-9 months down the road that I can only use my UR as a statement credit because they can't take it as payment cuz I listened to the wrong rep
But I agree, usually if they tell you it's true it's because they've done it, but with my luck I get that 1% that just makes stuff up cuz it sounds good, hehe

Fingers crossed day shift is the good shift :)

This story puts Exhibit A to shame... lol

Fist thing I think of is the airport parking fees!

Yeah, When I first attempted to do this I talked to about three of four reps before I got to Melissa and each told me it was not possible to transfer anything from Disney to Chase... Now it sounds like many more reps know about that process. I would try Melissa and see if she can provide some info on NCL, they may have a different policy than Disney as far as payments go. Does NCL require just a deposit and then the full amount closer to travel? From what I gather they follow the rules of who the reservation is with, like with Disney she read pretty much the exact Disney policy as far as payment and cancelations. I'd google NCL transfers and see if anyone reports having to make the full payment when its been transferred to a TA, if you cannot find anything than I am sure its just lack of understanding how transfers work on Chase's part.

Wooo hoooo! Dpuble dip went through without a hitch! Took 20 min tops. Thanks for all the advice and support.

Woohoo another Double Dip dance day !
:woohoo:party::cheer2:party::woohoo:

What's that, at least 3 today right? That's a lot of metal being sent out to our little group :)

That's what I was thinking, @miztressuz. THREE SUCCESSFUL SAPPHIRE DOUBLE DIPS TODAY!

:worship: CONGRATULATIONS, @LB002, @Disneyonmymind, and @1st*toright!

And another CONGRATULATIONS to @LynnTH on Player 2's CIP! :cool1:

That would freak me out :)
My only strength is I'm not half bad at playing dumb and you'd be amazed at how far that can get you on some things.

i hear u. One of my MS runs, the cashier remembers me and got suspicious of what i was doing and she ended up calling the manager on me...

THIS. On my recent WM trips, I had the cashiers actually chatting me up about how annoying fraud precautions for debit cards are because I told them I need to swipe twice for my MO since my bank limits each swipe to $500 :rolleyes1 I told them I couldn't agree more :D

I think I would like to try this next! Is the $400 just for New York? I feel like bank bonuses can be easy, but they feel a little overwhelming too

I think this is a NY offer too. My DFIL got the offer and they live upstate.

Woohoo another Double Dip dance day !

Adding myself to this metal dance party tonight, but mine is for the Amex 100K Plat :cool1:. Pulled it on CardMatch a couple months ago, but hesitated to pull the trigger since I had other plans in the works. But gave it some more thought now that the CICs have been approved, SPG Bizs are done/close to being done, and our CA trip is around the corner (can use the SFO lounge before our flight to SNA on SW, and would like to try to use the Escape Lounge at OAK when we arrive; any idea if that would be an issue to use after we arrive?), and I told myself I would pull the trigger this time if I could pull the offer on CM again. @Lain's story about not being able to pull the offer again (for his DW I believe) after he pulled it the first time had me nervous, but I figured I'd leave it to fate since I've been so indecisive on it. Told myself if I could pull it, then it's meant to be, and I would apply right then and there. Well...:thumbsup2
And Amex was kind enough to give me my card number instantly, so :jumping3:

My hotel happens to be category six, but I’m going to use the certificate right away since I already have it booked. I did transfer last Wednesday morning so I’m hoping by Thursday. I’m trying to figure out what airline.

Yep, NCL works the same as far as payments so at least I may have the transfer option available seems like... If I can just get to the right agent :teeth:
With NCL the future cruise certificate acts as full deposit for the cruise, so no cash payment is needed until final payment; a little different from how DCL works their placeholders. So the way the first agent said is I had to use my UR first time cash payment was made and since my cert covered the deposit I was all set to play with UR later. Seemed too good to be true so I wasn't too surprised when I got a different answer until the different transfer answer too and then I got concerned.
Thanks for restoring some hope!

Congrats!

I pulled that Amex offer and haven't tried to see if i can pull it again. I am/was focused on the double dip plus DH got the Marriott card. I still want to get the Amex, but not sure what the best timing will be. I am worried about credit limits too because the 2 CS cards both gave me insanely high limits tonight. I may wait a month, cancel my SW card and lower the CS limits before I try for it

:woohoo::cool1:party::cool1::cheer2:

The Amex Platinum is a seriously beautiful metal card; and since it has a terrible earn rate after meeting MSR, I keep it pretty by sock drawering the actual card when not traveling. I'm glad you jumped on the 100k MR offer! A big bonus like 100k MR makes this card worth it, at least for the first year. (Be sure to redeem your airline fee credits this year and next!) And it gives you access to some of the best airport lounges domestically. I really hope you enjoy the Centurion Lounge at SFO and the Escape Lounge at OAK next month. Lounge entry after arrival shouldn't be an issue at Escape, although there was a story today that Amex has started imposing some restrictions, including no entry upon arrival, at their SEA Centurion Lounge.

:charac2:Sadly, I haven't been able to pull up the 100k MR offer for my wife despite word that Cardmatch is targeting this offer again. I think I'm more upset about it than her. She's fine trying for the Air France/KLM (PP) Lounge in the International Terminal before her Japan work trip. Ah well... frees up some spend to put on a Hilton Biz or Amex BBP.

Unfortunately, Alaska is notorious for denying PP access to their lounges. It’s supposed to be limited to peak times, but I’ve seen too many negative DPs about their lounges at SEA, PDX, and LAX.

I would imagine, esp at SEA and PDX that you get a lot of biz people and people in general with status of some sort that gets them access without having PP or something else. I think it's more common (at least on the west coast) for people to actually still be loyal to an airline and are to Alaska more than I notice other airlines, with the exception of SW in this thread. Both SEA and PDX are going to be heavy Alaska airports as well.

He was able to sprint to one of the other lounges. Not sure which one it was. But at that point he had about 5 minutes, so he grabbed some cheese and crackers and a soda. He probably should have just bought some real food instead.

He probably went to the club at Sea, there's two, one in the south terminal that I used before my Icelandair flight and one in concourse A, which if he wasn't able to get into the Alaska's lounges in C or D that's probably where he went. It would have taken too long if he'd been in the North satellite where their other lounge is. I'm hoping to use one of their lounges for my next two flights out since one is early Sat morning and the other is a Thurs redeye. Didn't get to use one coming home Sunday since the only lounge with PP access was in hall 1 and I was in hall 4 and you can only go into your hall.

Congrats!

The "best" time to open an Amex card with an "airline fee credit" like the Platinum ($200/calendar yr.), Premier Rewards Gold ($100/calendar yr.), and Hilton Aspire ($250/calendar yr.) is in late-November to December. Because the airline fee credit is a calendar year benefit, you can potentially "triple dip" this benefit on just one annual fee. (Any other time of year, you can still double dip the benefit.) You can successfully trigger the credit by purchasing gift cards in specific denominations to Southwest, AA, and Delta. On the Platinum, that's as much as $600 worth of airline gift cards on a $550 AF.

So say you get one of these cards in late November 2018, you'd use up this year's credit right when you get the card; then you'd use up the credit a second time on or after January 1, 2019; then you'd use up the credit a third time on or after January 1, 2020. Your first year annual fee would post at the end of your first statement, in or around late December 2018. Your second year's annual fee would post around late December 2019 with a due date in January 2020, and you won't actually have to pay the annual fee until you've had a chance to use up the credit a third time. If you don't want to pay a second year annual fee, you can cancel the card after you've triple dipped the airline credit benefit. (I'll also add that you get $35 of Uber credits in December vs. $15 all other months.)

Question is if you can pull up the 100k MR (or even 75k MR) offer at the right time.

Lastly, Amex isn't concerned about your limits with Chase. The Platinum is a charge card with no hard credit limit. For credit cards, Amex may even readjust the credit limits on your cards with them if they feel like you're overextended and they need to reallocate lines.

Hope everyone had a good Memorial Day weekend! I'm behind on this thread (as usual) and just jumping back in.

How long does it take for points to post to Marriott after your CC statement closes? My statement closed on the 27th and I can see the 75,000 points in my rewards history on the Chase site, but they aren't showing up in my account on the Marriott site yet. I feel like this has been answered before but I can't find it.

Wow. Genius. I just have to see if I can pull it later this year... Or if I can be that patient! And I didn't think about tge credit/charge difference. We pay off each month, so it's the same either way.
