And FYI the code can be used multiple times, I don’t believe Reddit has been able to establish just how many times (or if there is even a limit) but they have established it doesn’t work after the person who received it uses it.
That's pretty cool! So the unique number isn't completely unique.

Sort of OT but really having a crappy day with the ex because according to angry texts messages from him I'm spoiling the kids and "trying to show them I have money." The truth is I don't "have money" (and he's never paid any support), I just manage my money well (including traveling on points). And I'm waiting on lab results from the vet on a growth removed from my fur baby last week.
Sending positive vibes to you and your furry friend!!!

I leave tomorrow for Atlantis. I checked in this AM with Southwest right at 24 hours and got an A boarding position. I’m super excited to get away for a few days. I’ll try and remember to take good pictures so I can share a review.
Have a wonderful time!

Automated status line orders your applications from most recent to oldest (so your newer (pending) app is reported first. So no worries there.

2 weeks is a good sign. Are you planning to call recon today and try to get it approved?

Based on the past couple hours, it is clear that I don't have a plan. :rotfl:Seriously, though, should I call recon again? Do you think they will know and/or ask me about the CSR? The automated line knows so I have to think it will show up in their system when they plug in my SSN.

The AF for my Amex Platinum just posted. I really like having this card and have used many of the benefits. Since the beginning of 2018, I have triggered the $200 travel credit by buying Southwest gift cards, I've used the $15 Uber credits in full every month (except for April when I used just under $12), I've used $130 worth of offers on the card and I've used the lounge access twice (one Centurion lounge and the Escape lounge at OAK). So for 2018, my AF is down to $148, with over half the year to go to use Uber credits, use offers, visit lounges, etc. I really had no intention of cancelling but decided to call Amex to see if they would give me a retention offer. They gave me an offer of 30,000 MR if I spend $4k by 8/29/18. The spend is high, so probably not the best offer, but I didn't really have it in me to play hard ball, so I took it since I never planned to cancel. We'll see whether I make the spend or not, but I'm not currently working on any other MSR and won't be until the Fall since DH has gotten three Chase cards since Feb. (last was CIC within the last two weeks), and I'm over 5/24 until Oct.

I'm curious what you say when you call. Do you just say you are thinking about cancelling the card and see if they make an offer, or do you specifically ask if they will give you a retention offer?

I think they are on record as saying it won’t go away. Obviously changes are coming though. Of all the merger related things, this one (nights and flights) seems to be the poorest in terms of communication/execution thus far.

Yes, we need more information.

You should call recon to get the CSP approved, but personally I might give it a few hours and hope the phone reps change shifts in the meantime. Since you called recon to get your first app approved, there’s a chance you might get the same phone rep if you call too soon to get the second app approved. Lol.

Reposting some of the advice I posted for @1st*toright this morning when she successfully completed a Sapphire double dip.

It seems the second app for a CSP almost always goes pending because of a credit line issue. Assuming the applicant already has other credit cards with Chase, then Chase gives them a huge credit line on the CSR (as they often do), it doesn't leave much for the CSP.

You need to get the CSP approved on the same day as the CSR before Chase's system updates with the CSR and denies the CSP for already having a Sapphire product.

When you call in, mention you’re calling (only) about the CSP application, and ask what can be done to move the application towards approval. It's likely a credit line issue, in which case you’ll want to have a card in mind with enough credit that you can offer to move from that card to open the CSP.

Obviously, you'd don't really want to move credit from the CSR and draw attention to it. We think the Chase phone reps have the ability to “see” a recently approved CSR in their system, but most won’t notice that kind of detail or don’t know about the one Sapphire rule and shouldn’t give you any problems. There are also DPs where the reps can be talked into pushing the CSP application through despite the earlier approval. If the rep does mention the CSR, and asks why we need the two cards, a lot of us just say we want to separate expenses.)

I'm not sure how others do it, but I just said I was calling because I saw that the AF posted on my account and while I liked having the card and was enjoying some of the benefits, it was still startling to see that high AF in black and white, so I was wondering if there was any retention offer eligible on my account. The rep was able to see that I'd used the airline fee credit, Uber credits, offers, etc. But he pretty quickly made the retention offer. He initially offered a $300 statement credit for the $4k spend which I interpreted as 30k MR, so when I asked for clarification, he said he could also offer me 30k MR, so I took that.

Thanks. I will wait a while. Do you know what time they close? Moving CL is a problem because I don't have any other Chase cards. The CSR will be my first. However, I am not even close to having a total CL of 50% of my income with Chase, especially, but even if they add my other card's CLs. So that is good, at least.

Here are some reports of successful double dips that had to call in to recon to get the second card:

Thank you so much for all the help!

IT WORKED!!! Double dip at 4/24!

I called recon and asked her what I could provide to help move along the approval for the CSR since we have some travel expenses coming up that we'd like to use it for. Answered some questions, mostly repeats from the application. Then she had to move around some credit (forgot I had a ridiculous $28K limit on my Chase Hyatt, so moved $10K from that), then we were set. No mention of the CSP application at all, whew. And I'll be able to pay off our Disneyland Paris reservation with it, which should also allow me to use the $300 travel credit. Yay!

Now, to spend $8K in the next three months...that's a tall order!!

The double in DH's dip has been officially approved (CSP) after a short recon call to move credit around. Yeah!!!

$8k of spend here we come. I smell a few new PNC checking/savings accounts for DH. And i'm going to see if they can expedite so we can put our spring 2019 travel plans on one of those cards (probably reserve to take advantage of travel credit).

Thank you again for all of your help!!!

Glad you guys have my back. We called recon together (which didn't seem to phase the rep, they just got permission from DH for me to be on the phone), they asked some questions about income, how long we'd been at our current address etc. Then he confirmed that the issue was with the credit line, so I asked them to move credit from the SW to the CSP and we were approved.

party:

No mention of the CSR at all on the call, we didn't bring it up and neither did he. So, 8k of spend, here we come. And we are going to go on a really romantic date to get global entry together sometime in the next few weeks, now that we both have CSRs to pay for it :thumbsup2

If it doesn't change from 2 weeks to approved in a few hours I'd be calling before the end of the day. @Lain posted the reconsideration line hours earlier:

ETA: Chase Credit Card Reconsideration. Personal: 1-888-270-2127, open: 8am-10pm Monday to Friday. 8am-8pm Saturday & Sunday. The verification department may have different hours.

So should we not preemptively lower credit then?

I still think preemptively lowering credit lines, especially far enough in advance of an application, increases the likelihood of insta- or auto-approval. But you should keep enough credit on your cards in case you have to move some over. I personally try to keep +$5k on a card from which I can offer to move to open a new card.

Congratulations to your daughter, and the whole family!

P.S. Is that the National Honor Society badge on your daughter’s graduation sash?

I was wondering about that badge on the gold sash too! My dd graduated NHS but only had the gold sash recognizing it. No badge on hers...

Thanks! Yes it is the National Honor Society Insignia on the sash. Plus National AP Scholar Honor cords and Mu Alpha Theta Honor Cords. She worked super hard to get National AP scholar before her senior year. There was only 2 in our school to do it. I think she was a little miffed that all AP honor chords are the same color and do not distinguish the level. lol

I guess schools can use whatever NHS stole they want. Most of the ones from other schools I saw where actually white collar type things that also had the insignia on it.

Also, I booked a package with Disney and plan to transfer it to Chase within 30 days. Based on my understanding, I will be able to earn UR points and pay with them, plus GCs, and any balance 30 days before check in day. Do you all agree? I can spend the next 6 months earning UR and collecting GCs and pay it all off in a one-time combined payment? DH keeps telling me to double check on this cause he thinks I’m crazy, lol. :rotfl:

Yes that is correct, See my posts on DISchurners but this is exactly what I did. May I suggest before you transfer it get everything done on the res you want while you 'own' it (Ie Room requests, Transportation/extra tags ect..) because after Chase will have to make those requests for you. I would plan to pay it off a week before Disney's deadline just in case you have problems getting ahold of Chase or there are issues. Also I think I have this in my posts on DISchurners but have an idea of what you will owe in points, as I don't think Chase's payment screen shows the $200 deposit and the first points number they told me was over my calculation until we figured out her number excluded my prior payment. And one last also, you can only make one points payment so tell them you'll wait until you have the points to make that payment, don't apply any right after its transferred.

Congrats to her on all her hard work! Our chords were different too. I know other schools around here did individual subject chords...ours just did honor roll chords...My dd was gold all the way until her senior year when her sickness got really bad last fall. She fell to silver honor roll but honestly, considering all she dealt with, I could not have asked anything more of her. All the schools here do the gold sash for NHS. I've never seen white represent NHS. Weird how this really varies!

def ymmv. saw a DP of this guy who called in twice, same rep, rep was like, didnt u call me earlier? haha. both apps were pushed through by the same rep.

So should we not preemptively lower credit then?

Also keep in mind what the minimum CL is on the card you want to open. If there's a min it should be listed in the offer details. So think about lowering enough to get the min credit but keeping some available to move if for some reason they decide you're not worthy of the min. (which would be weird, but weird things happen with banks)

I agree with @Lain. I think lowering the limits preemptively is good. You just have to do it way in advance and not two days before like I did (before CIC app). And yes, still leave room to move credit if needed.

Thanks! I know DH has 12k on both business cards, can't remember what he has on his Amazon and Disney cards. I won't be double dipping him until probably October so I'll go ahead and lower them a little bit but hold some back.
