I love credit cards so much!

I wonder why you'd want to do that. When my DD18 was under 18, I'd ask for a pass to go through with her...even at 16 and 17. I just wanted to stay til she boarded. They never gave me any issues with it. Now she has flown enough that she just goes through on her own.

That's the thing, I could almost understand this if it was a minor flying and they didn't give you that pass. But this was just two adults who were friends!!! Just drop them at the door and say goodbye!

What about the folks on /r/churning who brag about how they do the same thing so they can hang out at airport lounges? This is why we can't have nice things.

Why on earth would you just want to hang out at an airport lounge? A nice lounge is one thing when you have a long layover and need a place to wait. But to just hang out in? I feel like these people are missing out on some real world options...

I just linked my Chase Freedom card to paypal. I've never had a credit card linked, so I just want to be sure I get how it works. When I select paypal as a payment method, then select my chase freedom as the way to pay, it just goes as a charge on my CF card, right? And then I'll get 5x the rewards since it's PayPal. I'm just making a purchase on Lands End, but also see that the Southwest portal has 3x rewards for lands end - so if I go through that portal and then select PayPal to pay, will I get SW points and UR points?

Just beware that if you have money in your PayPal account, PayPal will automatically draw from that balance regardless of your preferred method of payment.

I'll have to grab it out of my car and check after lunch!

If it is, it’s the kind that churners share and sell on reddit. But before you transfer it, you should be aware that to apply for the offer you need to provide the invitation code and your last name, then it’ll take you to an application page that has your name and address pre-populated. The applicant can change it, but you’ll be giving up that information.

I'm back for more instruction!

I've decided to double dip the CSP/CSR and get the Amex. I'd like the Chase cards for June travel, and if like to take advantage of the Amex deal before it's gone, so I have to apply soon.

What is the application strategy? I was reading CSR first, then CSP in incognito mode (or both incognito???). Should I apply for the Amex at the same time? I'd prefer to stagger them, but don't want to miss out on the Amex deal. We can do the minimum spend easily with some upcoming expenses (which is why I started thinking we need a better CC reward strategy!).

Also, I am not on Reddit. Is it jusr another message board?
When I did my double dip I applied for CSR on my phone using a Diser link from reddit and after I was automatic approved I applied for CSP in my work computer. Since I cannot open reddit on my work computer I just email myself a support link from a Diser.

Congratulations to you and your husband on his second Chase business card in his wallet!

:cool1::woohoo:party::Pinkbounc:jumping3::bounce::cheer2::banana::cool1:

Remember, you can buy gas cards at office supply stores for 5x.

Yes, Gyft and Swych earn 5x on the CIC when using PayPal checkout.

I'm not aware that eBay seller fees earns 5x on the CIC. eBay shipping fees does not.

Netflix and Hulu earn 5x on the CIC.

Plastiq only earns bonus spend on the CIP.

Swych sell Walmart gift cards? I might have to look into that, their website is less than helpful I am grabbing the app... Gyft is horrible. :D So if Swych earns 5x on the CIC I might just use that instead.

Edit: DOH! No Walmart! :(

Just beware that if you have money in your PayPal account, PayPal will automatically draw from that balance regardless of your preferred method of payment.

When you check out there are a lot of options, they tend to want to use Balance first, then bank then CC... You are also given the option of Balance and then bank/CC or WAY at the bottom CC for the full amount... Just keep scrolling they don't want you to use that generally.

Checked my USPS Informed Delivery email and it looks like my CIC denial letter is in the mail today! Going to run home at lunch today and pray it's in my mailbox.

Not only this, but even with a zero PayPal balance, some gift card resellers (staring right at you, Raise.com >:(), will reject the transaction despite a credit card being the preferred payment, and withdraw it from your bank account if you have one linked. I had two back to back Raise purchases through PayPal that ultimately withdrew from my secondary bank account despite my CF being the preferred. I called PayPal to ask why and they said it was a merchant or card issuer problem. Chase cleared another PayPal transaction same day through a different vendor for $25, so I doubt it's Chase. And this happened twice.

Just called to check on the status of my CIP - now 7-10 Days instead of 30 - is that a good sign?

Also based on advice found here I called about a retention bonus for our Amex platinum - I didn’t even know such a thing existed until this board. They offered us $500 credit or 50k points. I have been with Amex since 1995 and had the plat Mercedes for 3 years. We put almost everything on it and payoff monthly so we are great customers but I was still thrilled with 50k unexpected points!

Now I will be hoping for another Amex rewards to jet blue redemption offer! Want to try mint from east coast to LA this winter! Wish me luck!

That’s bad news/GREAT news!

Unfortunately, the 7-10 days message for Chase applications means likely denial. They’ll send you a letter with a reason and we can help you figure it out.

But fantastic news on the Amex Platinum retention offer! It sounds like you took the 50k MR, and I hope those didn’t come with a spending condition. Amex retention offers become available on your card 13 months after you’ve received the last one (probably to discourage cardmembers from calling in every year).

When I had DH removed as an AU on one of my cards, he sent requests to each credit bureau to have the card removed from his credit report. I know that others have sent secure messages (SM) directly to Chase asking for them to have the AU removed and have had luck this way as well.

Since you are at 3/24, you could potentially get 4-5 Chase cards, spacing them out over several months. I agree with others that your first move should be a CIP. The bonus is 80k UR and it won't effect your 3/24 status. I opened mine for my eBay sales and stated annual revenue of just $1k. Right after the CIP, you could go for the Chase Freedom card, since it only adds $500 to your minimum spend requirement (MSR). This will allow you to take advantage of the rotating categories.

After that, you will be at 4/24. You could get another Chase business card, such as the Chase Ink Cash (CIC) or the soon-to-be debuted Chase Ink Unlimited (CIU), which gives you 1.5% on any purchase and is great for non-category spend.

Finally, I would recommend that you double dip your last 5/24 spot, which will put you at 6/24 afterwards. Either getting both CSR and CSP or getting CSR and CF (especially if meeting the CSR/CSP MSR is too difficult).

Also, PC means product change. It is when you change from one category or type of card to another. You are correct that you do not have any cards to PC to a Freedom. You can't PC co-branded cards, such as Disney Visa, to Chase product cards like Freedom.
Wow, this is great info. Thanks for the plan... I have to admit this is more cards than I was thinking about ha!!! But I am intrigued.. I have some questions.

1) So after I get my refi done, apply for CIP. I *have* sold before on eBay, but literally like 1 or 2 things. I'm such a rule follower... is this ok or should I be nervous?
2) Apply for Chase Freedom- When you say "right after", do you mean like the same day? Or a few months later?
3) I am confused about the need for the Chase Ink Cash after the Chase Ink Preferred... is this just to get another sign up bonus?
4) Regarding the double dip, won't I have the CF already? Or is this 2 years later?
5) I guess it would also help me if I could understand the sort of "overall strategy" of this approach. Would you say the goal is to apply for as many cards as you can to maximize the sign up bonuses ? And then you have this big bank of rewards that you cash out for a while until you are eligible to cancel these cards and do it all over again? Or is it more of a rolling thing? I do have a few particular trips I would like to fund, but I also am looking for just a solid long-term plan.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! I cannot thank you enough for the help.

When I called to change my Freedom last night, they were also going to mail me paper forms to change my name - one for every card I have with Chase.

After I hung up, I thought, I should have waited a month for that... I'm going to get those for my Marriott and my SW Plus, which I plan on canceling (unless I get a statement credit or something).

Okay I am new here and so far learning a bunch. Love this thread....kinda addicted. Can anyone help me with a question I have. So I have a pretty good plan on what cards i will open and use my DH to help in that to reach our goal to go on Disney Cruise next year. My question is, do I call Disney to book the cruise now and put a cash deposit down then pay of the cruise with UR I would have earned by then next year or do i wait util I have accumulated UR points and pay as much as possible next year? Anyone have experience with booking a Disney cruise and can help me wrap my head around how to do this?

1. Most people on here apply for business cards for their "business" and includes things like selling on eBay/Craigslist, braiding horse hair at horse shows or baking cookies. I am a rules follower too. I would put $1000 as your revenue when applying though, since that is a reasonable number though some have applied listing just $10 and still gotten approved.

2. You can apply the same day, but make sure to apply for and get approved for the CIP first since there is a 0/30 rule. This means that you cannot have applied for any other cards in the past 30 days in order to get approved for a Chase business card.

3. Yes, it is for the bonus. But I also love this card. It has no annual fee and gets you 5x points at office supply stores. I met MSR by purchasing Lowes and Home Depot gift cards at Office Depot to use for home projects.

4. I meant to say CFU, which is the Chase Freedom Unlimited. It gives you 1.5% cash back on any purchase. When combined with the CSR 50% bonus, it is really like getting 2.25% on any purchase when you redeem for travel. I use this card for all of my non-category spending.

5. The goal is two-fold. One is to get a big reserve of points through sign up bonuses to use for your travel expenses. The other goal is to get the Chase quadfecta, which is CSR-CF-CFU-CIC. This combination of cards allows you to best maximize your everyday spending to continue earning UR points through their various bonus categories. You can cancel any of these cards and then reapply 25 months after you last earned the sign up bonus to get the bonus again.

Just beware that if you have money in your PayPal account, PayPal will automatically draw from that balance regardless of your preferred method of payment.

It did default to draw from that first, and the remainder on the credit card, but I unchecked the box next to the PayPal money and it seemed to then just be using the credit card. Money is still in My PayPal account so I think it worked.

FYI: Don't hit minimum spends and then return things and not put the spend back on the card. You may get the points, but is it really the right thing to do long term?

This comment stems from here: https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/8k33eh/daily_discussion_thread_may_17_2018/dz5o9vz/

I don't think we have anybody doing this here, and while this Redditor feels ok with it...IMHO it's just not right. I get that we operate on the fringe of the rules, but not reaching the minimum spend and taking advantage of the card issuers system limitations to track returns on MSRs probably isn't an arena we want to operate in. If anybody disagrees, I'd love to hear that viewpoint though :) I can respect a different opinion stated respectfully with logic.

This is so stupid and reckless (ronnie pickering, not you). We already know that it’s spend-side only for Amex MSRs that triggers the signup bonuses on their cards, regardless of returns. But the point is, Amex has the right to claw back bonuses if you haven’t met the MSR net of returns. I’ve seen DPs on FT that say if the triggering transaction (the purchase that put you over MSR), in particular, is refunded, Amex will claw back the points (automatically?). Then you need to spend the difference to put you back over MSR within the MSR period to get the points back.
