I love credit cards so much!

I like this one! I am going to keep it mind since we always go to Legoland in CA and it would save us a few hundred dollars just with the free nights.
A few hundred dollars is nice but where are you at 5/24 status? Have you hit cards like the CIP/CSR/CSP? If you haven't hit those you can get a lot more value than just a few hundred dollars and there's a lot more flexibility in redemptions. If redeemed towards travel CIP = $905, CSP = $625, and double dip of CSR & CSP (IF you can handle the dual spending requirements) = $1,350.

So since you had to verify with plastiq, was it because it was a new card to your account or Amex card ?

Not sure if it was because it was a new card, a new card in my wife's name, or because I was trying make a payment in the "Education" category with an Amex (Amex won't let you pay student loans through Plastiq so there's some possible conflict in that category).

Here are some of our favorites that are good for a family of 5. Most are counter service since you have gotten great table service recommendations.

MK - BOG for lunch is a must every trip (ADR). They have the best counter service in the park. We also like to eat upstairs at Columbia Harbor House.
AK - Satu'li Canteen is great and has become our favorite.
DHS - We don't like the counter service restaurants, so we always book either Sci-Fi or 50's (ADR). Hollywood Brown (ADR) is also really good but expensive. BaselineTap House for apps!
Epcot - Via Napoli is great for a crowd (ADR). Restaurant Marrakesh is good for Mediterranean.

Resorts - Really enjoyed Sanaa on our last trip at AKL, but may not be for picky eaters (ADR). Geyser Point Lounge at WL for burgers.

Disney Springs - We enjoyed Blaze Pizza and Deluxe Burger on our last trip.

We usually only book a couple of ADRs for each trip and try to eat somewhere new each trip. We have found counter service restaurants that we like and they are easier to work into the schedule.

Oooh I forgot about Satu'li Canteen! I think we ate there 3 times on our last trip! That and the fish & chips in England are our favorite quick service.

Ok that's the part on my page that says I don't qualify yet for 2019, so what about 2018?

I'm sorry - I completely missed the fact that you were looking for 2018 and that JB shows 2019! I'm nowhere close to Mosaic, so I'm not really sure.

In my spreadsheet I have my recent flights at 1.6 cents. Are you subtracting out the taxes and fees or can I not divide? lol My flights were $92 for 5644 points and $106 for 6660 points. Are they all slightly different returns? Just curious.
Yeah - I’m subtracting $5.60 since your points didn’t “save” you that money.

92-5.6=$86.40/5,644=1.53cpp
106-5.6=$100.40/6,660=1.50cpp

They are all different returns due to a tax component. Basically, it causes your cpp to be higher on cheaper flights. I use 1.48 as that’s the return to on a $130 flight which is pretty average. :)

@speedyfishy is PNC open to everyone, and the bonus is just targeted by state?
Open to all. Bonus is targeted but I got the bonus from CA, that’s very hit or miss. I triggered it with either a $5k (? I think, whatever it was my direct deposit paycheck couldn’t cover it) transfer from Chase or Alliant. My money is on the Alliant transfer. This was about 9 months ago. Hillariously enough I couldn’t get the credit card funding to work but I was opening it for the bonus at the time anyway. Possibly because the name on the PNC account didn’t exactly match my credit card.

I love this idea - especially regarding the pictures (love looking at travel pics!) I also want to see pics of @calypso726 's plane "suite." Thats close enough to a hotel to be included, right?
FYI - I updated the index on the Hotel Reviews thread :) I will keep that updated ongoing so we can find properties at cities that interest us.

@calypso726 we'd also be happy to have insane reviews of things like suites on planes!

I am glad we will get a hotel review thread! I'll submit something on the Willard in DC which was a free night IHG redemption now that Chase and IHG are going to honor the free night at any IHG for those who applied on the old card.

I will be happy to oblige. Barring no further equipment changes we should be flying both the classic A380 Singapore Suites from JFK-FRA-SIN and then the new A380 Singapore Suites from SIN-HKG. While on the subject my DSIL sent me this video of SQ suites.

Now my family knows we travel hack but don't really pay close attention to what I am or am not doing. So when she sent the video, it was kind of surreal to reply that not only are we flying on that plane in suites class, the actual seats mentioned in the video, 1F and 2F are our seats!

I did just order a Cricut yesterday. And I did think "I could sell this stuff". Now whether I do that??? Of note the shopping portal I used to buy the Cricut didn't work and I am very sad at the loss of that $16.

Just saw this bundle on SD and thought of your Cricut purchase. I hope you got a good deal.

And was she duly impressed?

I just took everything out of my travel wallet and put it back in my normal wallet. I have all this cash in there! Where the heck did that come from? :crazy2: I mean there's the $20 FIL chased me down with, and the $35 I won in the slots... but I've got another $100 there! I don't use cash :snooty:

But really, I do creative accounting in YNAB to hide DH's presents when I buy them, because I still want to earn points!

ETA: The worst part with cash is, if I want to earn points, I have to actually go into the bank in person, the horror!!

I just wanted to add that both Chase and Amex online accounts have a profile page where you can update your income. Updating your account profile will at least get the new (combined) number into the issuer/bank's system for the next time you apply for one of their cards.

Thanks. I will do that.

Side jobs is definitely a business :) The Chase Ink Preferred is the best biz card around - here's how that bonus works:

Chase Ink Preferred (CIP)

  • Best Online Offer = 80,000 Ultimate Rewards (URs) for $5k spend in 90 days (there is an in branch offer for 100k - it requires some additional work to apply in branch to with a BRM).
  • Annual fee = $95 (not waived)
  • Points are worth = 1.25 cents each through the travel portal OR transfer 1:1 to numerous partners
  • Assuming you'd use the 1.25 travel option here's what you get:
  • 80,000 bonus URs + 5,000 base URs (from min spend) = 85,000 URs worth $1,062.50 LESS $95 annual fee = $967.50
  • Also of note - you could hold these points, get a CSR after and then you can redeem these points at 1.50 via the CSR making it worth $1,180
Also - I notice you aren't a member of our private reddit group "DISchurners". Would you like to join that? We have some detail on our best tips over there AND you could support another DISer when you apply. You also can share your own support links there too...

What is the approval rate on this card? I have a brach less than 5 minutes from my home so going in is no issue. How many points do I earn per dollar spent?
Do I need anything extra to apply for a business card?

What can these points be used for? How can I redeem?
