I love credit cards so much!

Well, I just finished my spend on the CIP, should I get the CIC or referr my wife to the CIP? I am still looking for SW Biz early next year for the CP. any thoughts.

On another note. I really like doing the bank bonuses. I have been very happy with how that has turned out. It has been fairly easy to do.
I would refer your Wife and then see if they will match the 100k

There is a new Marriott offer as well, which folks might want to consider depending on their travel plans. It gives free 2 nights (up to 35k points) plus a $200 statement credit and waived fee the first year for $3000 in spend. This may be a better card for some people if they have plans to stay at a cat. 1-5 hotel (best value from staying at a cat. 5) in the next year.

So the big differences in this offer is no annual fee the first year, $2k less in spend and a bit less flexibility in the "points" redemption.

More details here:

I like this one! I am going to keep it mind since we always go to Legoland in CA and it would save us a few hundred dollars just with the free nights.

Ooh! I’m gonna do one for the beach trip I just did on URs!

I'm booking next week!! Fwiw I thought Morimoto's was cool. The cocktails were disappointing, the atmosphere was awesome, the food was ok (Had Peking Duck but it was more of a fusion style Peking Duck than the fully authentic that I was expecting but it's a fusion restaurant so uh-duh, my bad there!). I would definitely recommend trying it! While I don't intend to go back, I'm glad we did it!
We did Morimoto when it first opened. I thought it was pretty good. Can’t recall my drink, but had a Buri bop bowl which was very good. DS had dumplings as always, 2 orders if I recall. Expensive but fun. We usually don’t do a lot of ADRs but occasionally splurge (last visit we did 4 and I decided it was too many for us, felt like I was always running to another res)

Tough choice. As @speedyfishy said, the enhanced 50k UR offer on the CIC is rumored to end 5/20/18. @3 DD love princesses also made a good suggestion to refer your wife for the CIP, 20k UR to you, 80k UR to her. That's 100k UR in bonuses certain. There's a small chance you might get a Chase rep willing to match the 80k to the 100k Small Business Week in-branch offer. It's $3k MSR on the CIC and $5k MSR on the CIP. Could you manage both? The CIC would earn you 5x UR on VGCs and GCs from office supply stores if you have a way to liquidate them.

SO got the CIC a bit more than 30 days after the CIP approval. When did you get approved? I’m hoping to get him the SW Biz in January too but who knows if he will get approved. I thought the CIC would be worth risking the 60k RR but idk if you would feel the same way. The CIC offer I think is going away this month.
I was approved 3-13 for the CIP. I would have to agree with possibly getting the CIC. I could always get rhe personal SW at that point. I am 4/24 and trying to stay that way lol. Do you know how many biz cards you can get with chase. I am loving the CIP with plastiq. That alone is why I may refer my wife to the CIP and then myself get the CIC. Who knows, by January the 3x with plastiq my stop and I could get the SW biz. Lol. I didn’t know about the CIC going away. Thanks for that.

I am about to start dipping my toes in with the bank stuff. What do you suggest for my first one? I don't have a job, so is there something else I can do for a direct deposit requirement?

Thanks for the info. I could swing both CIP and CIC as long as plastiq works for the CIP. That has been the easiest for us. I could MS if need be. If the wife would get the CIP could I use her card to pay the mortgage if my name is only in the mortgage? Does plastiq care?

I’ve used my plastiq for dh student loans. I don’t think they care about the name. I’ve used my cc and dh cc on my account. Also the bills I’ve paid have been from him and from me.

For me, I looked at what bank would count as a DD. I have navy federal credit union. So I first looked at DOC and saw who I could transfer funds to and have it cobut as a DD. My first bank was M&T bank. I have done 4 checking accounts with them. Then it branched to those to banks that would transfer funds as a DD. Next came chase. Then Wells Fargo and looking at PNC bank. My wife is a stay at home mom and we are in 2 player mode at times. I have made about 2k with this. I don’t know how it works when it comes time for taxes though. I guess I will cross that bridge when it comes. Lol. Sorry this is very long. I would be glad to help when I can.

I think we could all agree that would be cool to see under a “Misc” category :)
I mean, a misc category could include some business/first class redemptions :)

I'm heading to WDW in 10 days, and I just reworked our whole hotel stay :rolleyes1.

Original purpose of the trip was to do a quick visit with our little one, and burn some points. Well, I just decided that the Sheraton Lake Buena Vista didn't sound great for us, based on reviews, even though it was super cheap (in points - 12k SPG total for 3 nights), esp. because there doesn't seem to be a lounge, so no bennies for my SPG Biz there.

Instead, we are doing a split stay - 2 nights at the Delta (a Marriott chain, 1 mile from Disney Springs) and one night at the Swan. Right now I'm not using points for any of it - the Delta is 25k Marriott points, or $90 cash a night, the swan is 12k SPG (36,000 Marriott) and less than $200 cash, including the resort fee.

So I'm not burning any points because spending 86k Marriott points on something I can get for $400 is a return of .004 per point, and that seems pretty low. But now I'm spending money on a trip that was supposed to be practically free... o_O
I feel your pain on this!

@Jen and Ashwin - sorry about your unpleasant seatmate. I didn't have any unpleasant experiences in my work travels this week, but there were a couple of odd moments. My uber driver who asked me if I smoked pot (I was in CA, so less weird than the question would have been elsewhere, I guess) kept asking me if I was offended every time I looked at my phone or seemed inattentive to our conversation. I wasn't offended, but I would have been happy to ride in silence after an initial polite conversation.

Then on the plane, a very nice lady struck up a conversation. It got a little weird when she started telling me how aliens had already brought us all the technology our planet needs, but she was very pleasant. Fortunately, she did let the conversation die after a few minutes or it would have been a really long flight home!
This is exactly why I never travel without headphones. I will even pay airport prices if I forget them... :hippie:

Yes, you can use DW's CIP to pay a bill with only your name on it (I pay my wife's student loans from my Plastiq account using my CIP. My wife has used her Plastiq account and cards to pay the utility bill that's in my name.). You can add DW's CIP to your Plastiq account and pay bills with it (caution, see below). You can refer DW to Plastiq so she gets FFDs and you get FFDs, then DW could user her own CIP on her Plastiq account.

When it comes to mortgages via Plastiq, I'd be a little cautious. As you know, Plastiq has restrictions against paying mortgages with Visas (and Amex). Whatever you have set up is working for you, so don't mess up a good thing.

Personal anecdote, I added DW's SPG Biz to my Plastiq account to take advantage of some FFDs on my account for DD's tuition payment. I had been paying DD's tuition using Plastiq for months without issue. As soon as I used DW's newly added SPG Biz to make a tuition payment, Plastiq put a hold on it and asked for documents verifying the payment. Luckily, it wasn't anything restricted so I sent in an invoice and got it cleared in about 2 hours. If you're trying to make a mortgage payment, you can't exactly send in a mortgage bill and get the payment approved; they'll decline it and won't let you make any more payments to that recipient. Lots of people here have reported no issue with using Player 2's card on their Plastiq account, but you might not be so lucky.

If you have to use DW's CIP to pay a mortgage, you might want to refer DW to her own account (and collect the FFDs), add her CIP to it, and set up the mortgage payment on her account (and maybe even modify the recipient details a little) so that if her payment gets declined, it might not affect whatever you have going on with your account. You may want to mix in a few other legit payments so it's not just that big mortgage payment going through your wife's account.

I have an AMEX question and need some help since I know NOTHING about AMEX!

DH has an older Delta Amex, maybe 5-6 years old I'd say. I think at one time it may have been a Delta Silver(?) Is that a thing? DH downgraded it from one card to the lowest level a couple years ago. We received a letter today that the current Delta card has been discontinued and will be converted to the Delta Gold card. I'm trying to figure out what to do with this. I've heard people say Delta has lifetime bonus language, but is that really "lifetime"? Can I cancel his current Delta card before it's upgraded to the Gold card and reapply for him for the Gold later? I have no immediate need for the Gold card, so I could wait a few. But I have no reason to get upgraded to a Delta Gold and pay a $95 on a card I don't really use. Alternatively, can I call to cancel the current card and ask for some sort of bonus miles in exchange for upgrading it to the gold?

Memory Bank is easy and you can fund $500 with a credit card. Only a $100 bonus but that and the credit card funding is nice.

Discover was also easy. Don’t let the large deposit requirement scare you because you can keep moving the same money in and out until it hits the requirement. So if you do the 25k deposit you can just deposit 5k then transfer it out and deposit it again and again until you get to 25k.

looking at PNC bank
If you do PNC make sure you find the intial deposit with a credit card for some easy MS.

How many Biz cards your can get really depends. People have gotten three CIPs with multiple EINS and a sole proprietorship.

Wow!!! You are awesome. I didn’t even think of some of the points you made. I don’t want to mess with a good thing. I will then refer DW to plastiq and have her pay the mortgage with her CIP. That way I am not tied to anything if hers does not work. All very good suggestions. So since you had to verify with plastiq, was it because it was a new card to your account or Amex card ?

I know what I am about to ask has nothing to do with CC, but here it goes Lol. Could anyone recommend some must eat at restaurants at WDW please. My family is going in Nov. and ADR is on Wednesday and we are still not sure where to eat. A family of 5. Thank you!!!!

Here are some of our favorites that are good for a family of 5. Most are counter service since you have gotten great table service recommendations.

MK - BOG for lunch is a must every trip (ADR). They have the best counter service in the park. We also like to eat upstairs at Columbia Harbor House.
AK - Satu'li Canteen is great and has become our favorite.
DHS - We don't like the counter service restaurants, so we always book either Sci-Fi or 50's (ADR). Hollywood Brown (ADR) is also really good but expensive. BaselineTap House for apps!
Epcot - Via Napoli is great for a crowd (ADR). Restaurant Marrakesh is good for Mediterranean.

Resorts - Really enjoyed Sanaa on our last trip at AKL, but may not be for picky eaters (ADR). Geyser Point Lounge at WL for burgers.

Disney Springs - We enjoyed Blaze Pizza and Deluxe Burger on our last trip.

We usually only book a couple of ADRs for each trip and try to eat somewhere new each trip. We have found counter service restaurants that we like and they are easier to work into the schedule.
