I love credit cards so much!

I put $5 for my revenue and got approved for the CIP. I applied online but your business is more of a business than mine. Lol I wouldn’t worry since you are setting up a real business.

Nice! Yep, that's a load of worry off my shoulders. Just finished lifting the second of my 3 credit freezes to start the whole process! Eeek!

Also, did anyone else freeze their credit after the whole Equifax/Experian data breach last fall? Do you keep your accounts frozen and just lift them for new apps? Or just monitor everything closely? I just put in for a temporary credit thaw but the fees for that will add up if I keep doing it for every new card...

If I were you my #1 card right now would be to get a CIP (and then another for a spouse). I would have your husband get one first due to the plan you charted out...
  • Wait and see if the CIP 100k offer is available online next week.
  • If not - are you near a Chase branch and would he apply in person?
  • If not - then use a DISchurners link
  • Spend 5k, earn 85,000+ URs
  • Then have husband refer you to CIP in July/August
  • Spend 5k, earn 105,000+ URs
  • Those two signups paired with your CSR are worth over $2,800!!
  • Then you could apply for the SW duo in late 2018 for the 2019/2020 CP
  • Perhaps you have a specific reason for wanting that Marriott card...but those CIPs are super awesome and I'd get them now while you are under 5/24 and the offer is still at 80k (+ the referral offer for 20k).
  • If you really need the Marriott for some reason you could have Husband do CIP now, you do Marriott in May or June...and then get back on the plan I outlined ::yes::
Hope that helps :) As long as you don't get too aggressive with applications (which is why I say do husband CIP first and then have him stay quiet until later year for the SW cards) you probably can't go wrong :thumbsup2

EDIT: I should add I like that you have a long term strategy. I would probably even extend that strategy out 12 months with a plan of cards and dates. That's what I do, and then if something special/urgent comes along (i.e. an increased bonus on a card you had your eye on) you can call an audible!

I think his current Ink+ refers to the CIP, correct? So he could refer me from his Ink+ to the CIP and he'd get the 20k URs? Then we could cancel his Ink+ prior to the AF hitting....then perhaps I refer him back to the CIC next year after we've gotten the SW stuff out of the way...I want the Marriott card for a little extra topping off to my Starriott stash so I can do a nights and flights in a Cat 8 in Hawaii and get 120K SW points.

Thanks for the extra brainpower!

Slow in here tonight.

I'm really thinking of the Amazon Prime card. The 5% off on Amazon is appealing - because I could get all my household and non-refrigerated grocery items that way.

Part of me dies thinking about taking a credit pull for a lousy $70 gift card tho. Any more, I'm in it for the long game value plays and anything that will save me cash. I wish there was an Amazon Prime debit just like the Target RedCard!

I do not know the answer on CI+ referring to CIP...maybe somebody here can clarify. If nobody does, remind me and I can ask on r/churning.

I’m also pretty sure you cannot refer him to CIC if you have a CIP.

I’d steer clear on that one...it’s just so hard to justify a new account on your report for that little. But...if you love Amazon...hmmmmmm

I meant refer him back to the CIP. Slip of the keys. Or maybe a Freudian slip? Haha!

I know. That's what I'm so conflicted. It would be a hold and use card tho.

Canceled DH's Amex Green today. No need to keep and pay the fee. MR safe with his Everyday account. Next up on the chopping block is my Amex plat.

I think you meant to reply to my other comment ;)

Also - didn’t know you were into MRs :) Nice to have an everyday to keep them active. I also have a blue Biz + in case I ever want to cancel my everyday to free up a CC slot.

no CIC?

Just for knowledge sake (I don't have a CI+) can you then refer yourself to a CIP?

i hope so. Im planning on doing this.

Yeah grabbed the wrong message.

MR are my main program. I don't do UR anymore really. I'm tapped out for those cards with Chase. I have the Blue Biz+ and the PRG too, natch.

Cool! We are so “chase-centric” here it’s neat see somebody who has focused on MRs. There are a few of us but not many :)
