I love credit cards so much!

Aaaand we won't show this story to my wife.
We just flew back Sunday and my wife saw this yesterday. She has been good recently about flying...until now. Good thing we have about 6 SW drink coupons for our next trip in May. I don't drink...looks like 3 Mimosa's down and 3 margaritas on the way back. Hope there is no "last call" as we have a very late flight for our return.

I try to read everything, I swear I do LOL, but could you refresh what is a charge and what is a credit with AMEX? DH and I each have 5 total, Delta personal, 2 Hilton personal, Delta and SPG Biz.
Also, is the existing SPG Biz going to come with a free night in the future?

Amex charge cards include the Green card, all varieties of the Platinum card, the Gold card, the Premier Rewards Gold card, and the business varieties of these cards. The Deltas, Hiltons, and SPGs are all credit cards.

Yes, according to DoC, the SPG Biz will come with a free night.

I’m actually thinking about canceling Rome and maybe paying out of pocket for our Disneyland trip to go to the St. Regis in Bora Bora.. how do I get there?? Do I need a seaplane? SO hates flying and would refuse to get in a seaplane.

I recall researching this a few years ago, and it was FAR and lots of flights from the East Coast. Where are you flying from? Please go! I want to live vicariously through someone. Not sure I can make this one happen.

The card is a Delta Platinum Business. I could try just my last name.
I don’t think Amex is as picky as Chase. My SPG Biz Amex has my full name, then business name as my last name only. DH had a CitiBusiness Card with “Lastname Rentals “ as business name as a sole proprietor.

Access Credit Union, street address, not PO box

Access CU? If that doesn't work, then Access C.U.?

ETA: Per Plastiq's TOS, "For Payments to Recipients in the United States, the use of American Express cards is not supported beyond the following industries: Government, Utilities, Education, Residential Rent, and Club Fees & Memberships."

You'll probably have to select one of the above categories to get the payment through. Maybe Clubs or Utilities, if Other doesn't work?

I’ve read a time or two that one should set their cash advance on Visa cards limit to zero when using plastiq. I sent my first payment for power bill recently to establish a relationship.
I now want to make payment with my Amex. Do I need to set a cash advance on that card? If I need to set one how do I do that?

Hmmm received a Capital One mailed for the Venture card. 75,000 "miles" for $5000 spend in the first 3 months. Anyone have this card and can talk to me about using the miles? I know it can be tough to get and the miles don't work the same as UR or anything, but I was actually considering applying for it before and it would be nice if I could figure out a way to use it to cover the cost of our Universal trip in November.

I’m on the East Coast lol. As I was thinking about this in class I was thinking of flying to LAX going to Disneyland for a bit then going to bora bora. I’ll do some research and see if I could make it happen.

My DH constantly tells my kids they should travel while they are young but I really would like to know what he would say to this idea! I'm rooting for this trip for you.

I got the 60,000 mile offer and was seriously considering it for our October Universal trip. Not sure I would have been able to pass on the 75,000! Looks like a great deal. They pull from all three bureaus and it obviously takes up a 5/24 slot but depending where you are with Chase, could be worth it.

Well I got up the courage to apply for my first business card this morning and am stuck at the second item I have to enter! My name (just first and last legal name) is too long to be entered into the "Business Name" box. Any ideas from the pros?

Amex really is not picky at all about the business. If it is a "business" where you are just planning to make or sell something you could even just come up with a name and put that. It looks kind of nice on the card that way. I think my Ink (which was a pain to get) looks kind of dumb having my name listed twice on it. They put your name and underneath business name.

The biggest thing is flights from LAX to Tahiti and then Bora Bora. If the Marriott points are true and I can book five nights in a bungalow for 240k points id def book and hopefully I can book for 2019 for the same point cost. I can easily get to LAX with Southwest points I just have to get to Bora Bora some how. Flights are expensive lol this probably won’t happen but it’s nice to dream.

Just got the spg 30,000 to pop up. I think I want to pull the trigger. Anyone want to remind me how great these points are and what you use them for? I know everyone here loves them so much, would love to hear how you get max value. Especially on hotel stays. Having the hardest time pulling the trigger but I know I need to just make a decision!!

Congrats!

I mostly use them for transfers to airline miles. However, this month DH and I each transferred 90,000 SPG points over to Marriott which gave us 270,000 Marriott points each. This allowed us to use the points and trade them in for a 7 night certificate at a category 1-5 Marriott and 120,000 airline miles. The certificate is good for a year and we plan to upgrade it to a higher category (using more points) once we know exactly where we plan to use them.

We have used SPG points for hotel stays in Vancouver before an Alaska cruise, in Edinburgh, Scotland during the Fringe Festival, and for a weeekdn in San Francisco when we went to see Hamilton.

Our SPG points are allowing to fly like this next month and it is probably the redemption that I am most excited about! I can barely contain myself from going “SQUEEEEEEE!” every time I think about it.

Also check out the upcoming "sweet spot" for booking Marriott/SPG this fall. There is a St Regis Bora Bora (SPG cat 7) on the list, so . . . come Aug 1, you can get SPG cat 7 5 nights for 240K Marriott points. https://frequentmiler.boardingarea.com/2018/04/17/huge-marriott-win-spg-cat7/

Oh why did you have to go and show me that. I have no will power for bucket list items and great redemption value. Sigh ...

So, you're now planning for the underwater villa AND the island in Venice...you are very susceptible to the power of suggestion! I should come up with some more destinations that I would like to visit through your eyes. ::yes::

Hahaha! The island in Venice is on a current list of ideas for the hotel and flights package we got with Marriott when we transferred our SPG points. DH also has a few other ideas too. We were going to decide and book once Adeventures by Disney announced their dates for Japan next year. Now, it looks like we will be seeing what else would be good come August 1st.

We were planning the same idea. Break up the trip with a stop in DLR. United added or is adding flights to Tahiti. The good thing is that Bora Bora is one of those aspirational destinations that the bloggers all seem to have done. Therefore, there’s plenty of information out there on how one might accomplish this endeavor. Good luck and keep us in the loop.

Thank you for the help!

I got CSP and CF in 2016 and Marriott Biz this year, planning to get CIP in a couple weeks. I don't really have any other plans for Chase cards for me after CIP since Southwest isn't a good option for us. Maybe that new Marriott card eventually? Hmm going to have to think on this.

Im going to start reading.. this likely will only potentially happen if the bungalows are really only 240k for the five nights and hopefully I can book that for 2019. 2018 potentially may work, but I feel like flights would need to be booked out of pocket and that probably won’t work lol
