I love credit cards so much!

Not sure if you have children/how old they are, but Grand Cayman seems like a great spot for families with younger children. The blogger MommyPoints recently wrote several posts about her family's spring break trip there, which is what got me interested in it.

Grand Cayman has been on my radar screen for awhile too. My aunt is a TA and travels all the time. Grand Cayman is one of her favs, and keeps suggesting we go there rather than Hawaii. She says it's very safe, friendly, clean and "Americanized". Then some friends from church went earlier this year and came back just raving about it. I looked at their pics and heard their vacation stories and was hooked. They have children similar in age to mine so I could envision our family vacationing there. And then, lastly, I also read Mommypoints recently and loved her review. I was leaning to trying to get us to Hawaii in 2020 but now, I'm seriously considering GC instead. I just need to see how all the points fall into place.

a friend of mine absolutely fell in love with Exuma in the Bahamas. She has been trying to find a place that has a much bluer water but has not yet found anything.
besides, u can dress yourself as a pirate and reenact a Pirates of the Caribbean scene there... :]

I have DS11 and he loves it in Punta Cana. Although Beaches Negril is still his favorite spot or a cruise (he loves the kid's clubs on them). We're hoarding all of our points for a 3 week trip to Australia in hopefully 2020 so I can ok with paying OOP for these vacations in the meantime since they are all-inclusive.

For your Australia trip, what kind of points are you accumulating? I'd love to go there someday.

Ok, now you have me 100% sold lol! And yes, I looked at our friends pics and knew these were not altered in any way pics and could not believe how blue the water was. I've been to the Caribbean and also never seen water anything like that.

The Chase Marriott BUSINESS is not subject to and does not add to 5/24. I assume you meant the biz card but didn't specifically see that mentioned. You're probably ok from a shutdown standpoint as long as you don't hit any more chase cards in the next 3 months afterwards (which why would you considering you're trying to get under 5/24). :)

Thanks so much, I actually didn't realize it had to be the biz card so thanks so much for pointing that out!!! I don't see a Marriott biz link on the reddit, does that sound right? Only personal links? Also, will this affect me being able to get the CIP in Oct/Nov? Isn't there an unofficial rule that Chase only likes to approve 2 biz cards for one person for a "business"? Or did I made that up?

once you cross the threshold, it gets sent to u within a few days(sometimes on the same day). You do not need to make it before the closing date. its different than Chase's system where bonus points comes and goes with your statement closing.
Amex offers usually show up to me a few days after using it. You should see a credit.

Bonus points on the SPG biz post independent of your statement. Once you hit the min spend they should post within 2-4 days (regardless of when your statement closes).

That's awesome, thanks! That's one nice thing for Amex compared to Chase!

Can't speak to the first point but for the second, the stmt credit should show up a day or two after the charge fully posts (not pending anymore). It's not depending on statement closing or anything like that.

I'll watch for the credit in the next few days then, thank you!

You are correct, even better!
Ok good, you had me scared for a minute that I missed something! Was planning on Oct/Nov for CIP and then CSR/CSP double-dip.

I got denied for the CIC. My last card was 3.8 and the one before that was 1.31. The rep said it was because of too many opened accounts in the last 24 months and I can’t recon it. Is my math wrong? Am I missing a rule? Should I HUCA?

ETA: i got the 30 day message and shortly after it changed to 7-10 days.

I know 2 chase bus are safe. Not sure about three. I’ve seen some yes and some no.

No support links for Marriott biz so no worries there. Your comment on the biz cards does warrant some consideration. I'm hesitant to go out on a limb and give you advice but I'd definitely read up and consider whether you want to jeopardize your CIP in any way...

Did you get the letter yet? That sounds like 5/24 language...:scratchin I don't recall your 5/24 status but I assume you knew you were under 5/24 as you're always on top of things.

Yeah, he said I was 6/24. I said three of those are business cards and shouldn’t count. I’m really 7/24 when you count business cards, but Amex takes time to report so I think he wasn’t seeing an Amex Biz card.He said Biz cards counted....

ETA: I didn’t get a letter. I’m brave now and will let Chase grill me on my “buisness”

You might have cut it too close with your last card being 3/8. I know it's supposed to be 0/30 for business card apps, but I would buffer it by a few days or a week to be on the safe side if it were me.
What are your 3 business cards?

I think the only reason business cards don't count (usually) is because they do not show up on a credit report. But from what I understand, if it's on your credit report, Chase will count it -- so Chase doesn't have a policy of not counting business cards, but it can't count those (business) cards that aren't on the credit report. I have seen a few other people who have had this issue--Chase counting a business card because it's on the credit report. Do you know which credit report Chase pulled? I would look at it to see what cards are showing up.

I'm wondering if the timing was just too close also. My aunt applied for the CSP and then 31 days later, applied for the CIP. She tried to recon but they wouldn't and gave some answer that seemed to be because of opening too many cards (she was only 2/24) so I really think maybe 31 days just wasn't quite enough time for a biz card.

This is why I asked which business cards @speedyfishy has, because some banks report them as personal. DoC says sometimes Barclay and always Capital One.
And if there are other Chase biz cards, I wonder if they might be included because the reps can see them.

I have used my sapphire with plastiq for my car payments and it work fine so I am sure the same for CIC. I am about to pay my car loan again, but this time with CIP to meet the bonus so I Can let you know then

That would be great. Thank you

Ok they were counting an AU even though it was an AU on my significant others card and at the time he was at a different address than me and I didn’t provide a social so odd they found me. Also the 6th card they were counting was a card that I applied for and got approved for but chase immediately canceled because their rep entered an extra 0 on my income when I applied. That was in August 2016. I didn’t even see it on my report because chase immediately cancelled the card before I even got it. I’m trying to get that card removed from my report. Idk what bureau they pulled I’m still on hold.

It’s been removed!!! I have to wait 30 days for it to show on the report though so I guess I have to wait.

Good work!!! If you push hard enough with logic you can win :) Definitely sounds like a 5/24 denial due to the mistake information you're now clearing up.

Also check Costa Rica. Southwest flies to both San Jose (SJO) and Liberia (LIR). Gorgeous beaches there and a very safe and friendly country. We loved it!

This is interesting. One of my daughters asked if we could go there one day. My husband said no too dangerous. I really
didn't think about it but now that you mentioned you enjoyed it I will look into it. Costa Rica sounds very exotic to me.
Where did you guys stay? Any tips?

I'm glad you figured it out!
