So I just said to DH while we were staining wood planks in the garage...

"I looked yesterday and saw where Grand Wailea has rooms avail on points now for summer and Christmas break. So you need to decide btwn Hawaii and a ski trip for this year."

His reply: "I don't know if we should do either until I start selling some stuff at this new job."
Me: "I wasn't planning to spend money on it. Don't you know how much time and effort I have been putting into accruing points for this stuff?":badpc: "Remember earlier this week when I applied for you a new card. That is lots more points. Not counting those we have $5k just in URs. Try to pay attention when I talk to you.":sad2:

I am pretty sure he doesn't believe me when I say we fly for free, and can do whole trips for free. o_O I'm not sure why not, because for years we have been flying free just by opening SW cards and staying at the beach for a week free twice a year just from his hilton points. That doesn't even include what I know now that I have all of you here to guide me.:worship:

Booking a hotel for this summer- Hyatt house in Pittsburgh, cash rate 238 a night.

Should I do 8k points a night (16k total) or 4k+$55 a night? Points being transferred from UR.

we can do some math here... @ $238 a night, 8k points, you are redeeming at .0295 CPP.
@the 4k value, you are redeeming at .04575 CPP.
while you do pay some cash, you will get a better value in your points.

I used the Chase Sapphire shopping portal for the first time. My purchase is not there or listed as "pending." How long before it shows up?

Chase portal has always been so YMMV for me. they sometime shows up instantly, sometimes they dont. i made a Columbia one, which was there, but not it disappeared. Id wait a month. Even so, i called before and they usually tell me they dont see anything on their end. :\

I totally messed up DH CIP app. I used biz name & EIN. We have to send docs in to attach DH to biz/EIN and verify biz address. I thought well that’s fine we have Articles & EIN info from 2004 and bank statement with biz address. We’re good with the latter but I totally forgot that I initially submitted docs (Articles/EIN) as a single member LLC (me). I was only thinking about him being attached because we file jointly on our taxes. Anyways, at this point just disappointed because I wasted a good hard inquiry and nothing in return.

So my question now, I thought I read that you can reapply after 30 days, is that correct. Could it then be done with his name/SSN.
Also, I’m at 4/24 with two falling off in September. I’m thinking that I should go ahead and apply for the CIP first since we have to wait it out on DH.

I already have CF, CSP, CIPlus-old, CI-old. I’m also thinking about canceling the old CI since I rarely use it, have the CIPlus and it will free up that credit line. If I decide to cancel before I apply for the CIP is there a timeframe I should wait to apply after canceling the old CI.

Thanks in advance

This is my first time using the Chase portal. 18% back on h&r block. Other rebate sites I use were much lower. Hope I see the points.

So DH was officially denied for the CIP, he's super grumpy at me about it. We did get him the SPG card and will use that to book two nights in NYC in the fall.

I'm just not sure where to go next with churning. I'm at 4/24 until later this month when an AU falls off. DH is at 2/24 until later this month when he goes back to 1/24.

Here are the cards we each hold:

Him- SW plus, CSP, and SPG

Me- SW Premier, Disney, CSP, CSR, Freedom

My fee is coming up this month on my CSP, I'd like to PC that to the Freedom Unlimited. Can I call before the yearly fee hits?

We could both cancel our SW cards. Should we cancel or should we wait to see what the new card will be? I was hoping to earn the CP early in 2019.
Why was he denied? Did you recon? How many times did you HUCA?

They wanted us to send in documents to verify the business and business address. I made a mistake and I should have just entered his name but I put a business name. He called 3 times.

He called 3 times. Trust me, he's done calling, he's not super happy with me at the moment:rolleyes1

Yes, that’s a mistake there is no getting around the app is dead. I wouldn’t do any other apps for him & would try this one again in 30 days- you’re down right now but you’re not out!

He’s not super happy- totally get that :( Mistakes happen to all of us & that is a common mistake actually so hopefully that makes you feel a bit better.

I got an email from AmEx today that said "An exclusive offer for you" in the subject line but I'm not seeing any other language that it's targeted.
https://www.americanexpress.com/us/content/express-checkout/

2 MR points/$1 in addition to the normal MR points earned at the listed merchants when you use AmEx checkout. Walmart, Boxed, Staples, Newegg are all listed plus more.

ETA: And it seems I'm late the party again, just catching up on DoC and he's got it listed since yesterday :D Apparently I don't rank with AmEx and not in one of the first promo batches, hehe.

Well you do not have to buy the items for they give away free items every weekend most are good like this weekend is chocolate milk, yogurt, and chow mein. I tend to go to jewels or target out of convenience (i can pick up things on the way to work or before picking DS) yet i enjoy the free items since they started
I did get the gift cards and a few sale things today. Didn’t need any of the free things but good to know.

I need some ideas for flight to MCO next March. Booked Swan for Spring Break 2019 today but the plan for CP is gone now. DH just got denied for CIP, not sure why, no letter yet. He is 4/24, will drop to 3/24 later this year. He got SW card 7/2017. I’m 7/24, 6/24 later this year. We have 25k RR points between us. We have some AA miles but will use those for Vancouver for cruise in May 2019. Will have 35k SPG points after finishing spend on SPG Biz
I’m just so bummed at not being able to work on CP.

Would you focus on URs to use for SW flights? We’re in Chicago, so we could fly United or Delta but SW usually has best flights/prices for MCO. I hate to use the SPG points because we love Swolphin, even though it’s not best use of points. Ideas?

I have been very happy with my timeshare and the places I have been able to stay. My favorite in Orlando is the Marriott Lakeshore Reserve. I haven’t seen as much availability over the last 5-6 months. The system seems to load inventory around 0200-0300 every night. My alarm is set for 0230. It only takes about 2 min to log in and check. Every once in a while I don’t make it for the full 2 min:confused3. A few nights ago I found a “getaway” week in a 2BR for 8 in December for $379. Well, one certainly can’t pass that up :cool1:. Our CPs expire in Dec so we should take advantage, run down for the week and get out of the MN cold. Our Disney AP expire in May so this will be a Sea World/ Universal trip. Those tickets will probably be OOP. I booked a minivan with UR tonight for 24,000 points, hopefully if I need to change times when flights get released the price won’t change much. Hoping DH will come.

You could still go for one SW personal and a SW Biz. How many chase Biz cards does he have?

Forgive my skepticism and naivete, but I've just recently obtained the Disney Premier Visa. I understand that there is the 0% financing for 6 months for paying for a Disney Vacation. Does this mean that if I've currently been paying for a vacation with a combination of gift cards and other credit cards, that if my next payment were to be made with the the DPV, that I can still obtain 0% interest on payments made with it? Or does the initial/total amount charged have to be paid off at the time of booking?

My understanding is that you can’t get a personal card bonus if you’ve had one in past 24 months. He got the personal SW card 7/17, so wouldn’t be eligible until after 7/19. I was planning for end of this year for 2 cards to meet MSR beginning of 2019. Best I could do now is end of 2019, which would probably be better done at beginning of 2020.

Deleted my response since I was totally wrong and don't want to cause confusion for others!

I use plastiq to meet the spend on my Amex cards even though it cost me 1.5%. I just cannot meet the spend any other way but I much prefer to put it on the CIP and actually, make money on the deal :)

Sorry for the late response. But Thanks for that. Decided to put plastiq on hold for now. Because with a vacation coming up will definitely be taking CIC and between food costs and the remainder of the hotel costs I estimated about $1500 for those. So this MSR won't be as hard as i thought to meet.
